My aunt gave me the names of my grandparents and great grandparents on my dad's side. What a gift that was! Some family lines are super easy, and others are a complete road block. My Mom's side I have been able to go back pretty far, because they were Quakers. Quakers keep fantastic records.

I just found you last month. HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉. I've learned so much in 1 month from the 3 of you guys. YOU, Aimee and Crista Cowan. Women of power in my eyes. I was assigned to give a lesson to a few people at church. Wow, I had to jump in with both feet and learn quite. I also taught myself PowerPoint asap. I would love to know how you teach with media. Your presentation is awesome. I introduced myself to genealogy back in 2016, have not done it since 2019. Back than I only used FamilySearch.
My three sisters and I went to the cemetery in Illinois where our Dad is buried to view the eclipse in complete totality. We just hung out with Dad. It was a great experience. We have about 20 family members in that cemetery. We honored them all, when we were there.

I started Research Notes on my 3rd great grandfather and discovered he was a land owner I hadn't noticed prior. I also noticed a couple other things I hadn't noticed before. I will try to start notes on addtional folks as I am working on a few mystery families that connect to multiple sides of family that sometimes all tie together.

I'm a fan of researching places, not just people. For one ancestor, I had a hunch that I should look up his birthplace. Turns out, he was born in the town where General Morgan was arrested and his raids on the North (US Civil War). The family moved away a couple years before the war started, but they must have still thought about their friends who were still there and it must have hit close to home for them.
Also, I had a cousin who told me about a line I didn't do much work on being part of the Underground Railroad. I found ads for one of these ancestors having animals that he sells from a good two day's walk from where he lived. The animals were on an island in Lake Erie, near Canadian water. Could this be part of the Railroad, not his work? I eventually found a Wikipedia article about a Canadian island near the US one, and it mentioned being on migratory routes for humans during the Civil War, not just animals. BINGO!
