Dr Susan LaFlesche Picotte born 1865 she was only 50 years old when she died in 1915. Next year it will be 100 years since she died. She was one of my great grandmothers, I am thinking we should do something for her???
Dwight Howe NET is working on a documentary which would air in 2015, looking at Native American women who have had national impact. Dr. Picotte will be one of the women featured.
I will recommend Arlene Wahwasuck, member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, who has retired from the USPHS as a CO 6 (same rank as the surgeon general of the US) and served IHS in the Eastern and California Area Offices as the DON. She contributed in the planning and implementation of the PBP Health and Wellness Center. In box me at my email posted on my google + profile if interested.
