Yona of the dawn is one of my favs ever, so I really hope you like it! Until about volume 9 it’s like an introduction to all the dragons, but after that it becomes more social and political, and interesting (not really into politics but yona made me like it). It’s worth the reading and the characters are amazing
i'm excited to get into it properly! the only eh thing from volume 1 was yona and haks age gap but from what i've heard the series is more about yona's development so i look forward to reading more
Seven Seas has 3 major printing locations Canada(there main one), USA, and Hong Kong China. The thick white paper are only ever used for printing at the Hong Kong site. So if a volume is not in queue to be printed at the Hong Kong site it will never get the thick white paper.

There is a paper shortage so they're printing on what they have it seems. It's not a big deal. I've had volumes printed on regular manga paper, and then I've seen some lately in the same series printed on thicker white paper. I don't think it's a quality control issue; it's in relation to the paper shortage definitely.

Enjoyed the haul! Loved seeing series I have yet to see from other TH-camrs :D And yeah Hanako-kun is releasing very quickly since there’s 18 volumes out (volume 18 released a few days ago!) so sooner than later it’ll be up to date with the Japan release! As far as I know yen press releases them pretty quickly if they’re relatively popular. (Well with the series I’ve collected from them so far.) I can’t wait until it’s finally up to date, then I can focus on other series, haha x)
I'm holding out for a Yona of the Dawn box set. 🤞 It'll probably never happen because shoujo rarely gets boxsets, but I feel like that series would be the perfect contender; it's long, and popular with different readers. I noticed the change in paper quality in another series from Seven Seas and it seemed to be because of the Hong Kong printing. I prefer the “newspaper” since volumes with the white pages are so stiff to read. Didn’t know it was the same with Tokyo Revengers. I hope I get all of them in the same since the other series had different papers for different volumes and it bugs me way to much. Are you buying from Adlibris or did I hear you wrong? I thought they were only available in Scandinavia but then again I’m not sure were you’re from. Thanks for an entertaining video :)

With the TR volumes, I got the B&N edition and a regular edition off Amazon and the Amazon copy had the nice white paper and the Barnes one didn’t. It seems like it might be kinda random unfortunately

yes!! forever hoping that an english publisher picks it up, even digitally would make me so happy TT and i am kinda scared so get into SH since i've actually never read a light novel but i figured if any series i have to try this one, i love love love the anime (also izaya is my favorite character and i'm pretty sure he is a major character in SH)

Viz media lately has been super disappointing. It looks like every reprint they are doing is italian. The volumes are considerably thinner, the paper quality much worse and the ink seems to have much less contrast. I really hope they do not reprint slam dunk in italy. The new yuyu hakusho reprints were also done in italy.
For instance those yona reprints you had in your haul appear to be all italian prints. The spines usually bleed over onto the covers for those. The covers are also a lot stiffer than normal viz volumes.
now that you mention it i have noticed the covers are pretty stiff :( dang all the series i'm waiting on for reprints are from viz as well, i'm not super picky as long as the volumes are readable but we have been waiting a long time for some of these series like nana slam dunk yona etc

I’m not sure if this is true, my volume of Tokyo Revengers has pages that are super white and says that it’s been printed in Canada.
