    Comment on your iron gapping as they get longer. I imagine the 8 iron is the iron in the set where Taylormade adds a bit more tech to help increase ball speeds. And generally, long irons are harder to hit. With lower swing speeds and shallow delivery long irons are hard to get full potential out off.
    For instance I am a 23 year old man with fairly high swing speed and steep delivery. I can fly a 4 iron about 215 but a 3 iron goes the same distance generally so I don’t carry more then a 4 iron.

    Hitting off a mat boosts your yardage by less spin and a tendency for the club to bounce into the ball. It can be as much as 10 yards or more.

      dont know about that in Mias case. She is hitting her driver about same distance as me but my irons are solidly 10-15y longer.

      It only bounces into the ball it it's fat and it's easily identifiable because the attack angle will be up.

    Well done, hitting it well. remember to keep keep checking these yardages through the year, as they can move and you can get caught out when on thecourse. Also if you can get to a place that normalises the data, as not sure how the range your at works based on range ball and reading partial/full flight.

    It looks like you are hitting TaylorMade P790s. If you go online and look at the specs, they have weird loft gapping on the shorter clubs 8 on down versus the longer clubs for some reason. I wonder if that is why your 8 iron flies a bit farther. I avoided the P790 because of this and stuck with my Callaway Apex 21 which has more evenly spread out loft gaps.

    No way hitting off mat adds distance compared to fareway. Most articles i have ever read says mats add forgiveness and spin leaving balls shorter by a small percent.

    How come you do not have a 3W? I did not have one for a couple of years because I had trouble hitting the ball properly with it. I decided this year that I have improved my swing a little so maybe I should try a 3W again. I got one of the new game improvement 3W's (I got an E version of the 3W from Tour Edge) and what a difference it has made. I know love my 3W and it even sounds great when I hit it.

  • @andymares4891
    @andymares4891 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Worn down face on the 8 iron + hitting of a mat + trackman normalizer (convert) of a premium ball (juicing) = less spin and more carry. Also, a mat bounces the club which correct mishits and makes the ball flight straighter and longer. In reality range balls only affect golfers with tour speeds who deliver the club consistently. You should be on some kind of tour if you carry the driver that far.

    Thats a good job doing your yardages like that. It will give you some idea of were you are at. Especially the longer clubs. But to really get it spot on it requires a bit more work. You have to hit off grass and to use your actual ball of choice. I wouldn't bother with anything longer than PW. But that depends on your current level of play and were you need or realistically want to get to. You dont need to hit that many shots. Get out on course when no ones around, main course, par 3 or a field. You must have a laser. Just drop some balls down at certain distances and only count nicely hit shots. If its a field, just laser your bag for a target. Use your imagination. Its a fun. You haven't got to do it all at once. You confidence will go through the roof when things get serious. Once your out on the course playing, if you find your not hitting your practice numbers you can adjust them. I also would only put the this work in during good conditions. Make a note of your no.s on the back of your club or a card in your back pocket. It really focuses the mind.

  • @CMBelite-FR
    @CMBelite-FR 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You need to normalize those ball data with a track man for example as practice ball will give your less ball speed and depending if its a hard ball (less spin than a prenium ball) or soft ball ( more spin than a prenium ball. With hard range ball, i get 10% less carry distance than with a prenium ball like a ProV1

    Yeah don’t trust trackman completely - better on a simulator or launch monitor with a premium ball that you can enter you individual lofts on that tracks your strike etc .. but they are okay for general yardages .. not sure on the total but carry is usually there or there abouts …. For instance hit a 8 iron on driver selected - and it will say its gone 180 yards but it definately hasn’t 😂

      I have the P790's .. I've found they don't like being forced, they love being hit with a smooth swing. Coming from some lovely Mizuno's that I could sometimes muscle, the contrast is amazing between them and the 790's ... I prefer the Taylormades though. Very rewarding when you get them right and they fly long and sit well.

    The 8 iron yardage seems fine based on the 7iron. but your 9iron might be the problem not the 8. 5yds from your pw and 19 from 8iron is not a big enough gap. Same with the 6 iron being so close to your 7

      14 x 15. That’s 210 shots, which for me, unless I took a descent break half way through the session, would mean a loss of physical energy and power from my 7 iron up. I see what you mean though. 👍

    • @bradfortner8921
      @bradfortner8921 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That’s an absurd amount of shots for any amateur in a single session. While the statistics on a robot would make more sense with more data, it’s not practical for almost anyone. The point is to determine club distances so that you have real data to determine club selections. You get one shot on course. So in actuality, fewer shots is better.

    • @rayfreeman2305
      @rayfreeman2305 4 หลายเดือนก่อน
