I also read somewhere, Wikipedia, I think, Yuko is Valia's/Varia's daughter, left - I forget where - on the doorstep as a baby, in the Realm of Reality, to protect her from the war between the realms of darkness & dreams.

I played this game myself via the collection months back, and it's wild just how well-presented it all is. Reiko's goodbye is such a punch in the gut, and the final boss music kicks so much ass.

Valis III and this remake of Valis I on PC Engine are the best games in the series.

This game is such a great classic. The funny thing is that it's a remake of a PC game that seems pretty much unplayable.

They need to release these English translated versions for the PCE/Turbo.
It'll happen. The PSP Castlevania was done, so all these other PC Engine games coming out in English will get a proper Turbo CD release as well.

Decent collection, but for the asking price (even at the current discount of $36); it is extremely bare bones and over priced. Only 3 of the four NEC PC Engine games, no other versions of other ports and still couldn't be bothered to add screen filters to smooth out over pixilated sprites for HD TVs. Not asking for an HD remake, but I miss the PS3 generation where at least smoothing filters were added (such as in Third Strike Online and Final Fight Double impact). While still a better effort towards game preservation; still kind of rough.
Yeah for this price I'll stick to emulating it
On the plus side, you can buy the individual titles a la carte.
Smoothing? Good god, man, why?!
@@lapis591 Smooth scaling (soft) and not that smeared smooth HD paint that covers important details. Im taling about the filter with a soft natural light blur so that the images dont look like a walking mess of razor sharp sqaure pixels on an modern T.V. Too much detail isn't good (like seeing every single pore on a person's face) but too much smoothing and you lose some details.
People often criticize pixel smoothing, this has to be the first case ive seen of someone being mad that its not included.
It's only a matter of time before these games get hacked and then transplanted into the original TG games to play on a Turbografx-CD. Although that might be assuming that there's enough room on the System card to handle the subtitles. Sometimes that can be an issue. But if they can hack and transplant the PSP Castlevania X, then they can do this in general eventually. Either way this is great and I can't wait for Cosmic Fantasy in English!

@@Pikachun I'm also hoping for the shmup collection with Psychic Storm, Avenger, Gaiares, and Granada. I haven't heard anything about that being translated. Psychic Storm is one of my all time favorite shmups, and I've always heard good things about Gaiares and Avenger, but haven't gotten around to really playing through them, or Granada. And I'm glad they didn't bother putting Legion in that collection, it's one of the worst shmups for TurboGrafx-CD and was apparently mostly made by Wolf Team. I beat that game several years ago and I can't remember anything particularly redeeming about the game unfortunately. Legion is a stain on the Telenet and Reno/Wolf Team name.
