2007 Mazda 6 3L - P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire - How to test when a cylinder is under the intake!

  • Car had a heavy misfire that would come and go. Only code was a P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire. Quick look through livedata reveals no misfire counters or anything else that would be useful for an intermittent misfire. Check cylinder layout and #2 is right under the intake. What to do now???
    This is where labscopes and amp clamps come in handy! It's especially good to have more than one low amp clamp. You just have to be careful. It's really easy to get caught up by a bad connection or other equipment failure. Not everything goes like a textbook. The real world is a noisy and distracting place! You gotta know when to not trust your capture and how to identify and work around wrong connections. I had enough of that with this car that I'm making a separate video on just that. I also have some good examples from some other vehicles. It can be VERY easy to make a wrong call on a misleading scope capture! I'll be uploading that video soon and will post a link here.

    I also always try to encourage people to play around with captures. When you have a bit of spare time try to create faults in cars and see how they show up on various captures. It's usually easier to learn waveforms when looking at captures of known faults!

    My 2007 mazda6 have cylinder 4 misfire and l cant seems to solve the issue
