      @damonaniton Some brands have 24/7 wifi cams (they are wall powered). Ironically I had a long chat with some of the team at Ubiquiti today at the WISPAmerica show. They didn't know why either.

      @@ThisSmartHouse "Some brands..." yea like the Eufy cameras you are reviewing in this video. They are 24/7 wifi cams. Eufy also has 24/7 recording over wifi on all of their other plug in powered cameras that are part of the 3/300 series. I believe Arlo, google nest, and ring also allow continuous video recording subscription options for cameras that are connected to a power source.

    • @dontump2286
      @dontump2286 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      As a note, I do not think the 24/7 recording on Eufy and Arlo are actually using the wifi directly from your router when they are recording. I believe Eufy uses the homebase or built in camera storage and Arlo uses their homebase also. For any camera that uses wifi continuous recording, you would probably want to have a separate homebase or network so your home wifi isn't constantly on overdrive. For example, I have 12 arlo cameras. Before I got the arlo homebase, my home mesh wifi network had to constantly be reset every couple of weeks because of all the network traffic from the cameras. Ever since I installed the homebase, my network has not had to be reset in over a year because all the network traffic from cameras are funneled through the homebase.

    Hi mate - thanks a lot for this review!
    Just a question sir. I am a bit curious about how data is transferred/stored to the home-base? Is it only WIFI or does it need an internet connection to store data?
    Please tell me about that because it actually matters about the internet subscription as these cams are a 4k-recording cams.
    Best,

    Just bought this set up …..I’m in Australia so the 10 meter extension lead isn’t included .
    It’s worth mentioning I had used some exisiting 5.5mm 12volt extension power leads that were already in the roof from a previous Swann system for power …this set up seemed fine during the day but as soon as dusk hit , the cameras went to red icon light …off line. ( seemed almost like the infrared night vision drew more power than the old extension cables could handle it ?)
    I tested one camera with its power pack direct to a power board at night and it didn’t go off line .
    Today I re did all 4 cameras direct to AC power board and extension leads , getting rid of the old 12 volt extension cables .
    So I’m at 2 minds with reviewers suggestion to buy 5.5mm extension leads from resellers .
    So far so good …I will report back the next morning after a full night time trial .

      @ThisSmartHouse  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would assume that was due to voltage drop. Your older cables were probably thinner gauge. Glad you got it fixed. Another solution would have been to get a higher voltage (14v) power supply.

    I've found the audio recording quality is very poor with Eufy 24/7 Outdoor Cam E220 cameras I own, and have been interested to learn if the new E330 is any better. I didn't find any portion of your TH-cam video containing audio... Why is that? Did you do any testing of recorded audio??? I've seen another TH-cam review of the E330 where the audio quality contained in recorded video is absolutely pitiful. THAT is a deal-breaker for me! I have multiple 6-year-old NEST outdoor cameras that record crystal clear audio, and don't understand why Eufy's cameras are so poor.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There was some concerns last year that I believe they have addressed. Others have gotten more in-depth into the security concerns it was mostly to do with how the cloud storage kept clips in a publicly accessible bucket. But you would have to know the exact hash of the image to get the one you wanted.
      I believe since then they have gotten rid of the intermediate cloud storage and now every time you open up a clip it pulls it straight from your home.

    All my Eufy Camera are useless when there is no internet.... all my camera lights turn red and the homebase too. Meaning only the thief needs is to cut your internet connection outside and your house have no cameras anymore. I will not buy anymore Eufy products if this is not resolved. Really strange why Eufy forces people's cameras to be always connected... vulnerability of cameras and it's recording is higher when online. I really wished there is an option in the app to stop it from connecting online and just rely on the home network.

    • @ThisSmartHouse
      @ThisSmartHouse  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That hasn't been my experience. I had my S340 camera with me and the onboard AI kept working and I believe it still recorded. I guess it depends on the camera and how to you have it set up. My cameras connected via my HomeBase still record even if the internet is down.
