What a faction war!! This was everything I dreamed of when I saw that there was another one of these. All of Alfredino's matches were absolutely incredible, but my favorite had to be the wood elf-dark elf battle. It was so incredibly frantic and high paced that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

That Daemons versus Dwarfs game created enough grudges to fill another book. It was like me playing against the helpless campaign AI

The dawi got what was coming to them.
That was honestly disgusting. Dawi did so well but then were just kinda picked apart when they shouldnt have lost.
Yeah, it was like that scene from the innocent days of GoT S1, when Bronn defeated that knight, then the lady of the place sneered at him, saying "You didn't fight with honor!", to which Bronn simply replied, "No. But he did.". Nonetheless, it was a well-fought battle by both sides, and an educational one when it comes to the "should I bring guns against a flying daemon prince that my opponent is guaranteed to bring" question.
@@IIIJG52 They had a risky build and were ultimately punished for it by methodical play by the Daemon player.

NGL. I'm kinda happy about that Cathay/Vamp Counts rematch because that second game was absolutely BROODAL. Iron hails coming off the top ropes to slam Manfred and vargheists into the shadow realm was a treat to watch.
That Sigmar vs Dragon army was really good. Hats off to both players for that battle.
That battle between Deamons of chaos and the dwarf shows the reason why I always hated playing land battle in multiplayer
Tough to see all those cycle charges for sure.. but, you gotta admit the daemons late game strategy was solid.
Definitely can be frustrating but I think it was a test of patience for the Dwarfs. Could they have won by being more patient and not chasing/doing things differently? Idk, maybe.
But I actually like seeing these kind of battles every now and then.
As Daemons I would not have drawn it out or cycle charged that much, but also I can’t blame them.
@@Sleepingdruid37 I absolutely agree, that was the smart choice as Deamons and the dwarf could have used better target priority with the cannon.
I still think that land battle is fun to watch but IMO terrible to play in casual multiplayer (see all the home rules that are necessary)

Pirate eyepatches were supposedly to keep one eye adjusted for below decks so they weren't sun-blind in both eyes

Interesting fact on the eye patch: in some cases it was to ensure optimal vision in both light and dark situations; when at sea, going from bright day light to the dark inside of the ship you would want your vision to always be ready, and with the eye patch you could always lift it to have one eye with the pupil ready for the dark
This is actually the most interesting thing I've heard in a while. I always wondered what the deal was.

Land battles are absolutely amazing. There were few that were more annoying ones but to everyone who points that out - Do you think games like those don't happen on Domination? Quite the opposite.
Any word on if Turin is planning on doing another Faction Wars? You can tell how much work they are but they're absolutory the best TW-W content. Just cant quite get into enjoying domination battles

I love domination but there is something special about land battle tournaments!!!!!
Idk, that Dawi game was a very cool headed implementation of a game-long strategy, punishing an opponent for their recruitment mistakes.
@@jeffreymonsell659Yeah, love it or hate it, the late game strategy really worked- those flamer reserves, Be’lakor’s healing, and the generally speedier daemons.
I get it though - a bit frustrating to see so many cycle charges when he could’ve stayed and fought too. All fair though.
@@Sleepingdruid37 For sure, being doomed with no real solution can be frustrating. And the Daemons player definitely could have stood and fought a little at the end, when they had a significant advantage.

Love land battles.
The cathay vamp count match up is a hard one! However, I have had success with maxxing out on crypt horrors, getting some cheap fell bats, and either isabella or red duke on a hellstead with wind of death and using up all my zombie summons whenever possible. Main problem in the match-up is control and not giving cathay any high cost infantry like grave guard to bombard with their compasses. Subatai gave it his all though!

Turin the reason pirates used the eyepatch was to acclimated their sight going under deck they would swap sides and the one eye will be seeing much better in the dark ! Random facts lol

Man I watched one of the last streams where Taco just WRECKED everyone with ogres. Was not expecting Bretonnia to stampede him like that!
i think a big mistake was spending money on the gnoblar scraplauncher, it barely got any value, and tbh there's little brettonia could bring that would give it enough value. Maneater pistols would've been my pick, as they would've be way better sniping against the high value troops, such as the cav, and single entities.
1 Leadbelcher was fine as it could shoot into blobs and cav, however the double caster wasn't great, as neither could stop their characters even slightly. The firebelly is probably more worthwhile with the magic attack and sword of rhuin for the green knight, so perhaps dropping the lord for a tyrant without items who would hold much better. With his damage/tankiness/regen, you could blob fight against their characters whenever sword of rhuin is up, with the pistols providing supporting fire and the crushers or ogres swarming in with sword of rhuin should do a lot better.
Imagine knight & blade but you can recruit chaos knights
i heard once that pirate wore eye patches not because of eye damage but to keep that eye attuned to the dark so they wouldn't be blind going below deck or at night going beyond light.

Demons vs dwarves game highlights the nonsense of LB. Demons wrap a full surround despite "not breaking attacking rules" because they have 1 unit on the other side of the map with an attack order.
And the shield kiting to cap it off was borderline pathetic
Definitely need players to quit doing this garbage.
It’s so fucking painful to watch,I mean i can’t image people watching stream had to deal with this kind of shit.
If they are allowed to do that, dwarves should be allowed to cornercamp.
For the record I’m not fond of how much the daemons drew the game out and cycle charged but - I like seeing these kind of methodical battles every now and then.
I mean, they had higher speed and mass late game, and no ranged units to stop them so, it’s fair game.
Same thing with the initial surround- I like the “always attacking” rule to stop toxic players but, I also don’t think it’s very realistic or strategic to always be attacking..
so I think maneuvering while light skirmishing is totally fine - as dwarfs without vanguard or gyros, you must expect the slow surround haha.

its so funny that so many people like the empire so much because its the one single factiont that i'm (at least in total war) exactly not interested in playing at all. i'd rather play high elves, they at least have dragons.
Getting in Miao Ying's box is just as bad as it sounds
