Portmeirion was the location for the 1967 British TV series 'The Prisoner' starring Patrick McGoohan, the hotel in the series was used as the old folks home, with the lawns in front for sitting outside and playing games such as chess.

Loved this film - thanks! I'm sat here in my Portmeirion dressing gown, which I bought for £25 years ago, so it's good to know they haven't gone up. I've stayed in Salutation as well and we didn't like the shower... I agree that the hotel dining experience is not the best for the price. We usually eat at the castle. However, the breakfast at the hotel is better. Love me some Portmeirion, hope to go again in September. Be seeing you! Sarah.

For that price in the restaurant I would’ve had higher expectations.. starter looked very uninspiring 🤔 is there a theme to that restaurant?

I would agree on the starter, I think the food is British inspired!
