Great design tip we share with all of our customers who are looking to make interior design changes to some of their rooms.
First- to apply base color, let dry serveral hours/overnight, apply tape where desired then paint next color inside lines. This was exactly what I needed to know. THANKS!!

Dont allow paint to dry then remove the tape. You'll end up with paint attached to the tape. Pull it off after a few minutes.
Sacred Exaltation but what if you need to add to coat ? The first coat will dry out on to the masking

I am just wondering how your paint doesn't leak through? Do your walls just have no texture? I have been striping for years so I came up with my own techniques that work great for me, but it would be awesome if I didn't need to take the extra steps.
Anyway you can say your extra steps since I'm doing this soon

I have textured walls that bleed through
A few important facts were left out of this video. Firstly, expensive Frog tape will allow sharp borders between colors as long as your paint isn't semi-gloss or gloss. If your paint has any gloss, Frog tape WILL NOT stick to it even though the new packaging says "Now Sticks Better, Sharp as Ever!" Regular cheap tape will stick fine to gloss, and you can use the clear caulk trick to get sharp lines (there are lots of youtube videos on how to do this). Learn from my mistakes, and don't listen to sales videos.

FROGTAPE ist super :-) I LOVE IT!! Gibt bei uns seit neuem auch mit Zick-Zack (Chevron) und Wave. Habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert. Werde ich aber nach den Sommerferien :-)

I have question about painting light color over dark color. The old paint is dark color how do I get true color when I paint new over dark colro?
you should first go over your dark colour with a few layers of pure white, i think this is the only way to get a true colour match.

Hi Malinda Smith. You may use the exact same technique when striping a ceiling. However, we always recommend painting the ceiling first prior to the walls.
I'm having a lot of trouble getting the tape to stick perfectly straight onto the wall. Even when I'm using a level and going a foot at a time, some parts of the tape start going off course as I flatten it and I have to start over
Hi jacob lahr. The tape may stretch or bend if it's pulled too tight. You may want to try a different tape. Easy Mask KleenEdge Self-Stick Painting Tape is a flat paper with a 5/8" adhesive edge that can not be stretched or bent.
jacob lahr Maybe that is because there is a bumpy texture or a lot of texture on the wall. My wall was too textured so I had to give up the idea of stripes.

if you are not using a laser level then the best way is to mark very lightly in pencil the line you want to make as it acts as a guide when you are taping. very hard to do a straight line down or across a large wall if you have no guide to follow

You're right but that depends whether you use oil base otmr water base paint.Sticking doesn't happens when we use water base paints.
when the tape is stay too long the paint coming off under it. why this is happening?
you have basically answered your own question. the tape has been left on too long. do not allow your paint to dry as it then has a chalky texture and will peel away very easily. tape should be removed whilst paint is still slightly wet.

I gave this video a thumbs down because it did not include tips on how to avoid the lines bleeding through the masking tape. This tip would be important in order to have straight, crisp lines.
