    The curvature of the ears of the Marwari and Kathiawari horses are found only in the pure breeds. When crossed with any other breed of horse, the curved ears do not show up at all. There is also evidence showing that, contrary to what was previously believed, the Marwari breed may in fact be older than the Arabian.

    • @prathmeshwanjale9791
      @prathmeshwanjale9791 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes they are older than Arabian horses... they were used for war purposes

    • @Critic224
      @Critic224 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Sorry but curvature in their ears occur even when half bred .... I know this because I have ridden a lot of halfbred Kathiyawadis and Marwaris
      As for which breed is older ... Scientifically can't say in comparison to Arabians but Arabians are likely older candidates .... indian breeds also have influence from their blood lines like so many other breeds do around the world

      @@Critic224 ears comes heart shaped even after crossbreeding is when marwari and kathiyawari are crossed becaude they both have inward curling ears and kathiyawadi has overlappong ears.but if you breed marwari with any breed other than kathiyawari it will loose its charecters of ears

    • @punyagandhi6375
      @punyagandhi6375 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Critic224 well if marwari and kathiawari cross each other then ears can be curved......
      but crossing with 1:1 ratio with anyother breed loses their ears....... I am from gujarat i have rode many kathiawari horses and a fewer marwari horses....... mix loses the ears....

    Marwari breed of horses are known for their bravery ... Once the king of Rajasthan 'maharana pratap' used to had a horse named 'chetak' ..
    In the battle of Haldighati chetak Was badly injured and had to protect its owner for the rivals . Then chatak jumped over a 25 feet river inspite of being injured and then died
    There is a hindi poem on the bravery of the chetak
    So the breed ..is badly known for their bravery

    I wish there were more of these horses :( I want one in the United States. Same with Canadian horse breeds, their numbers are dropping as well. Freisians, Arabians, Thoroughbreds, and American Quarter horses are the most popular breeds. But I feel Marwari should get way more attention, they are gorgeous.

    There’s an old Indian saying referring to a person’s horse. I am paraphrasing, but it is something akin to “If your partner passes on, a warrior doesn’t cry; but if his/her horse dies, tears flow. One’s horse is a brother/sister for life.”

    Likely the breed was ridden in the "Gita" Hindu Holy scripture. British rule tried to stamp out Mawari. Today's modern technology together with Indian superstition of which horse is more valuable won't help the breed survive. It MUST survive. It is a pure symbol of India. I live at a Hindu Ashram in U.S. No Indian I ask has ever even heard of the breed but they love the Gita. They are like "so what?" Who they are is right there in the Mawari. It will be a tragedy for Indians not to cherish and keep such a sacred breed alive. Arabians trace their roots back to it. Perhaps the breeder IS making a few babies if it is possible. They will be needed later. Working at horse rescues I can say the world has ENOUGH horses. This is "the only" breed that should have its number increased. A horse is a sacred animal. Native Americans knew it, the Spanish horsemen knew it. Indians have forgotten who the are. This breed can remind the Country they have something worthy and rare. Shanti

Also many wealthy collectors as well.

      India does export them to other countries. However, the export is banned in India from last few years...I own 10 Marwari. They are actually the war horse with enough strength, endurance. they have an ability to sense the rider feeling. If you fall off they will stand next to you and wont run. because for some reason they know you will get hurt. they are known or their beautiful face.the curvature ears, they can rotate it to 180 degree to sense and hear the movment upto 5 miles.

    Check out majhuke bloodline of marwari horse. A sikh named zora Singh in Punjab recreated old war horse line with astonishing stamina and larger size. These majhuke horses are built differently than regular marwari horses probably due to selective crossing with specific stocks. Punjab was entry point for invaders into india and many warriors died or left horses behind. zora Singh found those bloodlines due to his astonishing ability to look at 2-3 day foal and straightaway tell if it is from right bloodline for his mission. Zora singh selectively bred horses and named bloodline after his village majhuke . Recently equine photographer manu sharma in Punjab tested purebred majhuke horse over 600 km non stop ride with sleep breaks . You want a real war horse these are the ones from Asia. Genetically mixed with arabian, mongol and native indian bloodlines.

    • @aastiksharma7501
      @aastiksharma7501 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it is true that they were crossed with Arabian but it is a very small percentage because if marwari was a crossbreed it would have lost the special curvature of its ears which is scene in kathiawari also to some extent which simply means that there may have been some experimentation happened but it was an experiment not an decisional outcome to produce a hybrid

    • @nitefox4411

      All I know is the Arab stallion I started had similar ears... He had some blood of the Varian line which is pretty high quality I am told.
      His ears weren't quite as distinct but they were parrot ears at times.
      I thought it was peculiar to have such ears as his. Never seen ears quite like his. Then I learned of Mawari. The stallion was brave, loyal but unvalued because he wasn't big. What a crazy world we live in today. Dressage breeding horses with legs so long the foals can't reach the grass to eat.
