    One of my first Lego sets was the 1999 Slave 1 set and it had a few trans neon orange 2x2 dishes on the bottom/back and whenever I think of Lego those 2x2 dishes always come to mind

    Goodbye transparent neon orange! I will miss the flame you are in my life!

    Thanks for making this great video! I wish they would have chopped trans orange instead of trans neon orange though - ever since I first saw it in those 3rd wave Alpha Team sets, I always thought it was a pale imitation of its predecessor.
    I *hope* trans neon green doesn’t befall the same fate, as trans bright green is also pretty similar…

      The whole internal color chart is very interesting, thankfully it didn't show TR neon green on the chopping block, I hope. It seems like the next to go will be vibrant coral, doesn't seem like a very long lifespan for a new color.

      @@BrickSystemBros Yeah, I was a little confused by that as well. I might have all of two pieces in that Coral colour.
      Seems like it will have a lifespan reminiscent of something like Sand Red...

    Personally, I don't see any major benefit to the vibrant yellow that couldn't have been achieved by the pastel yellow or regular yellow. It's just a little too garish and bright for me. Would have much preferred TNO to stick around instead.

    • @BrickSystemBros
      @BrickSystemBros  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think we will see it for a few years and then get rotated out in favor of another short-term color. Vibrant coral has an exit date of December 31st this year, so we may be entering an experimental phase of "seasonal" colors that only stick around for a few years, long enough to introduce some variety to the color range but not wearing out their welcome. Maybe with this approach we will see some more interesting colors that come back towards neon orange, like a new neon red. Time will tell.

    Have been doing some reseach but there's this 2022 version of Serious Play Identity and Landscape Kit {2022 Version} 2000430-2 , which has a transparent neon orange dish , and that set is still available for purchase right now via LEGO themselves, so that's at least 1 piece to possibly indicate the color might still be produced (same piece is also on bestseller pick a brick)

    • @BrickSystemBros
      @BrickSystemBros  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice sleuthing work, the original version was released in 2013 and used red dishes, so it was definitely an intentional change and not simply a carry-over from the previous version. I ran the Rebrickable search again with the filters and it turned up another TR Neon Orange part from last year; 85959 flame marbled with the TR brown color. It was part of a Stuntz set that is still available: rebrickable.com/sets/60339-1/double-loop-stunt-arena/?inventory=1#parts
      I would venture to guess that the two remaining sets are being stocked with a supply that is no longer being maintained, and when it runs dry the sets will either be discontinued or have their inventories changed to use a different part still in production. I have no way to verify that claim, and the stock may be large enough to last a few more years, but that is my hunch. Thanks for the comment.

    It's not really my choice but I'd gladly sacrifice light bright blue in exchange for trans-neon orange.
    There's a lot of good colors you could use in place of that and not out of any sort of hidden agenda to make Lego use sand and medium blue more often
    but because the regular trans-orange is too subdued to replace trans-neon orange very well.

    • @BrickSystemBros
      @BrickSystemBros  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      yep, I agree that blues in general are somewhat overrepresented, although if I got to pick one color to go it would be one of the lavender shades. There are 2 current light purples that are close enough to be forgettable, and they have been in plenty of sets for about 10 years each.

    Nail in the coffin will be if Hungarian horn tail (76406) releasing this summer is using neon or normal trans orange. Can’t tell from the leaked images, but noticed that flame part appearing in the list of trans neon orange

    Interesting video! I didn't realize some Lego colours had a shelf life! I don't like it when some colours retire. Hope it doesn't happen to any of my favourite colours! I wonder if Vibrant Yellow will retire at some point, just as Vibrant Coral will this year. I like the transparent fluorescent colours too, because they glow (fluoresce) under UV light. Shame Lego is retiring the transparent neon orange...

      @@BrickSystemBros thoughts on the removal of neon green?

    • @BrickSystemBros
      @BrickSystemBros  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luvyabrick this one doesn't sting as hard because there is a modern color TR bright green that is pretty close. And yes, I know it isn't fluorescent like TR neon green, but at least it is a popular color in Monkey Kid and Ninjago.
      TR neon green was also pretty available in high volume sets for a long time, so there is a lot on the second hand market as well, maybe unlike TR neon orange or some of the more rare retired colors.
