    Great tip about the paints! I was sitting on a couple of paints that I bought for ships I bought in-game (which I don't even have anymore). Managed to free up $25 in credit 😃 I was wondering though... I have this one Groundswell paint for my Cutter that I know I am going to want to use. In that case it might be better to keep it right? Since pulling it from buyback would cost me new money, right? Spending a buyback token on it seems like a waste.

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you don't want to spend buyback tokens in short term then yes don't melt the Cutter paint, especially with its paint costs it is not going to move your credit forward too much. When buying paints back its great to do it at end of quarters where you have a spare token or two and about to get replacements anyway and look at event yearly schedule for next 3 months i.e. Gholish Green paint for Halloween/Day of Vara.

    Im hoping for some good warbonds, trying to get a cheap eclipse. Also the Perseus to Polaris is not a good CCU. Never do a CCU with a concept ship unless you are planning to finish the CCU Chain soon. Remember the Perseus will get a price jump when finish and at that point the CCU is gone.

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a great point Hawkeye! Percy being the start of a CCU chain is not ideal because ship is not out yet, and yes may jump in price at least a bit which takes value away from the CCU hold. I will admit the 700 USD WB deal on Polaris caught me off guard and its a weird price point with few ships near it. On the 750 regular credit Polaris deal the Hammerhead to Polaris CCU for 25 USD hold is the path I recommend to many over the years of Polaris being developed. It's a much more stable path.

    I really appreciate your video and I hope you see my comment I could really use some help understanding the CCU chain. We are currently in IAE and they are changing the sales daily, so Im trying to increase my chain. However i noticed some warbonded ships on the market aren't able to be upgraded into, is their a way to predict this, or at least know why its happening?

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Each sale Warbond deals are offered not evenly across the days especially on CCUs. It can be argued that Warbond CCUs are especially being cut back this IAE more then most years.

    Having a tough time understanding what the point of the ccu game is. If, for example, I got a 55$ x1 bike and then upgraded it to the ursa med evac, then I still spent 60$ regardless of the order I spent it in. I must be missing something here.

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are many ways you can use CCUs as a tool:
      -At the big sales you get 10 year insurance on outright buying the Ursa Medivac with credit. By using a CCU you can preserve LTI insurance.
      -There are periods that are not the big sales but ships are often, even bigger rare ships such as Phoenix Emerald, where CCUing the Cylcone in that pack gives the whole pack enhanced insurance.
      -CCUs are also the only option for reward ships/vehicles to realize their value beyond the hoverbike or snub they are because you cannot melt or gift them.
      -Finally, I show in the video long term holds in CCU game can add up to hundreds of dollars in savings (including showing my 235 USD BMM, 250 USD Carrack, 290 USD C2 Herc, and Of course my Endeavor family haha.

    • @mcjoyful8102
      @mcjoyful8102 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@RedJay so if I am understanding you correctly, you can save money by upgrading a ccu in concept and then by the time it has released the price for the ship will have jumped higher than what you spent? Also the other value is retaining a 10 year/ LTI on a ship that didn’t have it? Like an ursa to a Corsair?

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Retaining LTI is one of the motivators for many backers even when costs are exactly the same - and I stress as I note in my examples it is rare CCUs are even with outright buying a ship in cost - virtually any CCU chain will see savings over outright buying the ship. And yes, the savings are much better pre-launch of a ship, earlier the better in many cases - except in cases of smaller ships which are military or alien which often are pre-increased in cost even from concept. Corsair itself is a bit hard capped now in value increases so would be a more end of a CCU chain goal.

      @@RedJay Right on! Thank you so much for explaining this to me. I kept hearing people talk about it but didn't really understand it. I think my plan is to get the LTI bike and upgrade it to a Corsair as my main ship. I've flown it in game and it feels like a great ship to do a lot of content.

    • @redslate
      @redslate 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some paths can be quite profitable ('savings'). It's a hobby for some.
      You can also use it as a means to get LTI on an item you may have missed in concept.

    So I'm curious, because I've had conlicting answers. If I bought the mustang, it's my game pledge, and I just upgrade to the reclaimer over time, if I melt do I get the 400 or the 45? As I've had people say both.

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You get melt value of original ship and exactly how much you spent on all CCUs involved. But note you do not get the CCUs back nor can you buy them back and melt value will not grow... so let's use the reclaimer example - If you CCU'd to Reclaimer and it cost you 400 USD between original ship and CCUs then over a few years the Reclaimer goes up to 600 USD, your melt value sold to you would still remain as 400 USD which is what you would get. In My Hangar part of website you can hit exchange button on the ship and real time what CIG would give you in a melt (no risk of accidently melting as you would still need to add your password and confirm melt).

    I do believe we'll see the Endeavor and at least 3/4 modules in 2-3 yrs, because:
    1. CIG have modulation almost sorted,
    2. CIG have plenty of New MISC Assets with the HULL Series (look at the hulls and you can see the Endeavor),
    3. Pyro offers exciting oppotunities for the Endeavor,
    4. CIG have all those devs from SQ42, that could speed things along.
    Ive 3 'Gemini to Endeavor base' CCU's, all the seperate modules and an ''Endeavor Master Set LTI' all in BuyBack, and i do now, believe in planning for the end game, there'll be a time when CIG stops CCU's, which is rumoured to be around BETA, and with development marching on at breakneck speed, and with Pyro, SQ42 looming on the horizon, the content and features coming for 2024, its all happening quickly. CCU's offer the oppotunity to plan ahead, lock in pricing and cover all known, current game loops, and careers.
    [Questions] Hope you don't mind:
    1. if i brought the Concierge '' Ursa Action Pack plus Respite Paint'', can i upgrade one, both or neither?.
    2. : I manage my CCU's with a few text files. can i ask you how you manage your CCU chains, do you use a spreadsheet for instance?.
    Thanks for your thoughts and advice, that Javelin would give me nightmares. Kudos

    • @RedJay
      @RedJay  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dave agree completely on the CCU giving backers the ability to plan ahead during this high speed development we are seeing. Endeavor Master Set I have as well, and Seer taught me his strategy of owning a Master Set and then multiple base Endeavors to use modules across the fleet all with LTI which is slick, and will help me on Day 1 Endeavors are in game test them fully out as well as make enough credits to buy in game the modules for the rest of the fleet. I usually don't talk about Master Set because it scares off many from the Endeavor world and is really for those willing to tie up a TON of credits - so for most folks the far better option is just stick with a few StarG to Endeavor 10 USD CCUs and be walking away with 1 or more Capital Industrial Ships and just earn the modules (or I even just buy modules they like on release of the ship)... and that is on top of the other potentiality of CIG JCrewe saying "Look we are still working on Endeavor, but we will give this one module locked version as a loaner to all owners in meantime..." which Endeavor base owners will be able to enjoy big time in that interim period. Pyro will be great for Endeavors, just getting them into position will be rough... I hope we can still simply "deliver" the ship to a station of our choice, then it will be much easier to get them into position to make credits.
      1) Yes, you can CCU upgrade specific ships in a pack. There is no insurance downside as whole pack will take on the best insurance it ever had. Ships & vehicles in pack still act independent when it comes to CCU upgrades. The only thing I must mention is beware packs that are bigger then a pair of ships/vehicles - they box you in as inevitably one of the multiple ships in the pack you decide to melt or gift etc... and you must melt or gift the whole pack to do so. You will never lose spent money but you do lose the CCUs and of course any value gains you received over time (so if ship in pack went up 100 USD in value over a the years you had the pack, melting you still get everything you spent on pack plus CCUs but nothing more).
      2) I have text files for my hangar log (button on my hangar on top right side) as well as my Orders page under billing and subscription in case the database ever has an issue or my account has an issue etc. This is old school stuff as back many years ago sometimes CCUs would glitch or a hangar flair would double etc, it paid to have my own logs for peace of mind if I ever had to reach out to support. They are very basic formatted but still usable. I do have an Excel sheet for my calculations and tracking of the floating type holds and supporting CCUs for them floating holds. It is a bit better off on formatting but not perfect.
      On the Jav, I come from a decade in EVE running caps/towers then for too long Supers... I am extremely comfortable with cat herding and graviate towards warships that offer the highest levels of capital logistics, Org goal support (using SC term), and fleet support role anchoring things together in a staying power way only such a ship can offer.

      @@RedJay CCU'ing is now, one aspect of the game im really enjoying, but not without making the usual impetuous mistakes along the way. My biggest i would say was not realizing that ships brought with Instore Credit, melted and being still in ''Concept /Development'' are subject to possible price increases, up until then, i thought i was being pretty darn clever. until the penny finally dropped last IAE, but luckily it was very early in the event, so had time to do some forward planning....live and learn.
      As i mentioned, i do have '' The Endeavor Master set LTI'' , individual modules and 2 base CCU's, now increased to 3, they're somehing i'll plan to keep a close eye on as they'll remain in BB for the time being,
      Also, i never realized there were 3/4 Endeavor Packs?, STARJUMPS excelent vid on the Endeavor gave me a good understanding of its possibilitie and expansion, your enthusiasm and belief in its place in the verse makes sense and makes for a solid game loop, this ship has so much potential and with the modules, there's something for everyone, the base is also great value atm. The game is really coming together, and it shows for having al lthose extra devs on hand, lets hope they're not pulled away to work on SQ43, although im sure they have all those assets to pull from now, and the game being where it will be. Much appreciated, thanks

      @@davewills6121 Agreed that I hope for 50-50 split in resources... because yes eventually Squadron trilogy will demand more efforts. Last go around PU basically was put on life support and I hope that CIG sees that was a mistake. Endeavor is going to be endgame for multiple industrial and even the healthcare gameplay loops, and bridges into PVP/PVE support due to that last one. I have full confidence that eventually Endeavor will come out and yes it's a great deal. Getting into CCUs the right way and setting your Fleet up long term with them as a tool do so is good, shame you lost some gains due to melts but you are on your path now so no big deal.

      As I post this comment on 5/18 at noon EST Phoenix is sold out, but honestly it never should have been made into a limited ship anyway. I love my Phoenix as a daily driver ship especially now with Nursa release but it isn't some limited ship - its a bit of luxury put onto a multi-role working ship. Talking about desirability of ships, Phoenix is niche for many as there are cheaper options and is not great when we are trying to gauge ship purchases - using amount of funding day to day is easier to start working from.
