Something even better is that I followed the link, and have just been introduced into an entirely new genre and love for this style. ANY TH-camr that makes me loves a new style of music takes me back to when I was 12. Watching Sownsky and liking the music. This is a legend in the making.
“On the other, it’s about finding what’s fucking SICK.” *Cuts to Ultrakill footage* I knew Shammy had impeccable taste when she put NieR Automata at the top of her 2017 list, but goddamn is it nice to see my favorite game of 2020 getting more recognition in these circles. More games need coin flip guns dammit.
Fuck that game is good, and I keep on learning more and more little extra mechanics, like recently the superbounce's and railcoining, which while hard to pull off are absolutely insane to use, railcoining being much harder to do since you hit the same guy with 3 rail shots at the same time.
Shammy is secretly Deck13's Shadow Governing counsel and is constantly pissed at the publishers time constraints and lack of his thralls ability to create his perfect vision.
"Stamina action game" Hey, you ever play Nioh or Nioh 2? Watching footage of the breakdown of this game's combat gave me some Nioh vibes. It's fun to have the stamina bar be a "How much can you fuck shit up before you need to let the target have a breather" bar rather than a "I can only swing my big sword twice before needing to sit down" bar.
@@insoporous9978 And thats where you prove the point you tried to oppose. Every other game should be called a souls-like because most of them didnt change dogsht while this game tried so he called it stamina action. The same can be said by Nioh 2 as the perfected the stance system but their stamina is very much souls like but dgsht. Why stance system is perfect?? BECAUSE IT DOESNT FKING RELY ON STAMINA!!
@Hongding Zhou Well as I said stance is the solution to the stamina. Its like connecting everything to one good quality(Best mechanic ngl). Ofc maybe in Nioh 3 they maybe will perfect it. But until then we will call the stamina system soul-like.
Shammy, The amount of work you put ino every single release you put out is insurmountable, but you still manage to push through it and still show intense attention to detail at every turn. every joke and critique absolutely oozes with creativity and the batshit insane sense of humor you've garnered. every video I watch is like a time black hole, making hours feel like minutes. I rarely ever comment, but just watching these videos inspires me to write something just half as interesting as what you put out every single time. Banger after banger. Fantastic work shammy, rest well.
Can we abandon the need for every comment to be a joke? This is how we get shit like "Am i a joke to you?" "Plot twist: I'm a failed abortion" "Wow, that joke didn't age well ever since that completely out of context unrelated drama happened" Can we just have comments that continue the conversation of the video?
I've been sitting here going "Wait, I fought God?" until I finally realized "No, I quit playing what must have been just before that part because I was so uninvested in the conclusion."
I got to the boss just before the child’s shot into the sky. Died about 80 times. Really didn’t care enough about what was going on to keep trying so I put it on the shelf and still haven’t finished it.
@shammy A quick note of appreciation: your attention to detail is remarkable. Whether it was Vanilla Ice being the ice spell in the RWBY review or the numerous custom videos thumbnails and descriptions in almost every instance of you showing a TH-cam or computer screen - that stuff takes time and effort. The performance meter you had on here both in the Devil May Cry style and the bar below the existing bars was great. I hope to someday accomplish Ordinary or maybe even Immaculate combat in a game! Keep up the great work and know that those little details do get noticed - well done!
This entire video is just Shammy revealing that he’s just been playing Devil May Cry for 8 months and pushed this video out to buy more instant noodles
Look at Shammy casually dropping "stamina action game" like it's always been a thing. It might as well be! It gets the point across better than "Souls-like," anyway.
Honestly it's probably the most direct way of naming the genre without also naming its founding franchise. Yet, Metroidvania is a term that looks like it'll continue to be used, despite the fact that it's the names of two games mashed together. At this point, people have gotten so used to the term Souls-like that it would take repeated concussions via a printer in order to replace the name's public use.
@@nicolasstegmayer6142 Wasn't that just the usual "it's hard so it's like Dark Souls"? Or was there a stamina bar there? I never really play it myself.
It's probably too late for that, but what the hell. Thanks, Shammy. I don't remember for how long I have watched you, but still... Just thank you. Your reviews is something that kept not only entertained, but safe, if you can put it that way. Because every time I turn on your video not only am I ready to get my head blown with amount of comparison and clever jokes you're making, but seeing you just makes me... Calm. And feeling at peace is something I get rarely these days, so I can't stress enough how much thankful. So much that for some reason I cried at those credits. Stay strong, our favourite battery-licking owl. Cheers.
Whenever Shammy uploads I’ll drop fucking everything to start watching. Pasta. Cookies. Children. Doesn’t matter. What actually matters is that I get my fill of sarcastic narcissism before I have to to wait the next six months. Oh and the videos are fucking hilarious too.
"After skeletonizing and pleading the sixth" So, I went down a rabbit hole trying to figure this one out. It's a play on pleading the fifth, but... not? The sixth amendment says, "...the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial..." So, was this a quip on how quickly the player is placed through a trial by fire when the prison goes into chaos? Or, is it a comment on the state of Jonathan Surge's mind as he thinks about rainbow friendship weapons? Thanks, now my brain is broken and we're on the same level. Good to see you back.
i thought pleading the fifth meant giving an empty testimony. you're invoking your right against self incrimination. it basically means keeping your mouth shut/refusing to talk. unless i'm mixing that up with something else.
Deck 13 has some truly terrifying ability to consistently one up themselves with their releases... Granted they started in a shallow grave at the bottom of a dry well. But if you told me six years ago that the developers of *blood knights* would not only still be around, but producing games I was actually looking forward to I would never believe you. Lords of the fallen was a clunky brawler with horrible balance issues and about as unique gameplay, setting, and story as a hall of mirrors. The Surge was a clunky brawler with horrible balance issues with a not so unique story, but a very unique setting and some genuinely fresh combat ideas. Now we have Surge 2 with a interesting brawler, with a fully realized unique setting and gameplay, with... a not so unique story and horrible balancing issues. Still, an *incredible* improvement in a little under a decade. By my calculations we should see the next nier: Automata out of them in... what? 5 years?

"Stamina action game" Hey, you ever play Nioh or Nioh 2? Watching footage of the breakdown of this game's combat gave me some Nioh vibes. It's fun to have the stamina bar be a "How much can you fuck shit up before you need to let the target have a breather" bar rather than a "I can only swing my big sword twice before needing to sit down" bar.
@@insoporous9978 it's not that deep buddy

He's alive boys, call off the search parties.
By my calculations we should see the next nier: Automata out of them in... what? 5 years?
It’s always nice to see improvement cause with all of their games you can see that they have good ideas bogged down by shit execution
