Street Food In Bengaluru. Best Street Food In Bangalore. VV Puram Food Street. Thindi Beedi. Vegetarian Street Food.
Bangaloreans love eating out and one spot every one frequents is VV Puram for its delicious vegetarian street food that can leave you spoilt for choice!
In part one of this two-part street food trail at Thindi Beedi, Food Lovers’ Editor, Kripal Amanna begins his trail at the legendary VB Bakery to taste three recommended treats, starting with the signature KBC or Khara Butter Bun Congress, a butter jam bun and the honey cake. Following this, he makes a trip to Shree Swamy Bajji Center to taste five scrumptious bajjis! Next on the list is a unique, smokey Tandoori Chai, special chaats from Chandra Chaat Center and highly recommended street snack, the Mosaru Kodubale or the Curd Kodubale.
Stay tuned to the final part of this trail coming up, this one covers some traditional snacks and tiffin and something sweet to seal the deal!
    GOURMET ON THE ROAD RATINGS
    VB BAKERY
KHARA BUTTER AND CONGRESS KADLEKAI BUN
the first flavour to hit your palate is the savouriness of the curry leaves. you taste the buttery goodness, followed by the chilli and the crunch of the peanuts! this could very well be the Iyengar version of the peanut butter sandwich!
    Rs 26. (0.40 USD)
    9/10
    BUN BUTTER JAM
This special bun is made with milk powder and has some raisins in it too. slathered with a generous lashing of butter and mixed fruit jam, this dish is a slice of nostalgia packed in a bun!
    Rs 27. (0.40 USD)
    8/10
    HONEYCAKE
made with pure coorg honey, this honeycake is dense and sticky. the top is light, airy and spongy but the bottom is where the sugary attack of the honey hits you.
    Rs 28. (0.40 USD)
    8/10
    SHREE SWAMY BAJJI CENTER
    OOTY MENASINAKAI BAJJI
the ooty pepper in itself does not have too much heat but that raw chilli powder sprinkled on top certainly has a kick to it. this bajji will be a treat on a rainy day!
    Rs 10 for a bajji. (0.15 USD)
    8/10
    CAPSICUM BAJJI
a whole capsicum fried to scrumptiousness. the capsicum still retains its fresh crunch despite being fried. ticks all the boxes if you are considering a nice evening snack.
    Rs 20 for a bajji. (0.30 USD)
    8/10
    ALU BONDA
delightful fried snack that is super hot and made fresh. an absolute steal for a tasty snack!
    Rs 10 for 3 bondas. (0.15 USD)
    8/10
    BANANA BAJJI
love how the raw, starchy banana tones down the spice in that chutney and chilli powder sprinkled on top. the bajji is deliciously crisp when eaten seconds after it is fried!
    Rs 20 for 2 bajjis. (0.30 USD)
    8.5/10
    PINEAPPLE BAJJI
a large slice of pineapple battered fried and then sliced and topped with a chutney and a garnish of onions and carrots! a definite first for me. Rs 20 for a bajji. (0.30 USD)
    7/10
    NAMMA KITCHEN
    TANDOORI CHAI
certainly a tasty tea spiced with cinnamon and ginger. what makes this a tandoori chai is that smokey flavour present in every sip! perfect for a nippy evening.
    Rs 20. (0.30 USD)
    8/10
CHANDRA CHAAT CENTER AND PAV BHAJI
    MASALA PURI
this masala puri isn’t too spicy as one would expect. what you really taste is the fragrant spicing in the masala base and the slight sweet pop of the peas.
    Rs 30. (0.40 USD)
    7/10
    DAHI PURI
a loaded dahi puri. one bite and the puri just oozes all the delicious dahi with the stuffing of the boiled potatoes. you can also taste the spice of the garam masala.
    Rs 40. (0.56 USD)
    9/10
    GULAB JAMUN
this gulab jamun made using a special recipe is soft, creamy and perfectly sweet. the richness from the khova makes you want to keep going back for seconds.
    Rs 20. (0.30 USD)
    8/10
    ARYA VYSYA
    MOSARU KODUBALE
the mosaru kodubale was a scrumptious discovery. the crunchy exterior gives way to the gooey, porous inside. there’s a hint of chilli and cumin flavour.
    9/10

What one loves most is the unhurried nature of the presentation and the wonderful attention to detail, allowing viewers to experience the pleasure of every bite. The Food Lover's team deserves our appreciation for bringing us such lovely videos.
Speaking of VV Puram food street, it is perhaps the ability of the food vendors to evolve with the times that makes it such a popular haunt.
Looking forward to many more delightful episodes.

    - - - the best video shooting and anchoring according to me - - - it's difficult to stand balancing the food in one hand and eating with the other hand and simultaneously talking - - - with clear voice, good expressions and knowledge of food, its ingredients and its appreciation - - - with sense of humor - - - I have gone to this place many times - - - its a must for all those have not gone - - -

I was waiting to watch this episode....
OMG it's seriously goosebumps for me...
Earlier this was very fondly called as Sajjanrao Circle, the best things what we were having was the Dumrottu OMG, it's seriously yummy to the core...
Of course a larger menu more is still to be devoured there...
There were a lot of people from Orthodox setty family who were making heavenly Kodubale Nippatu Khara Avalakki and loads and Loads of other delicacies....
Another superb and yummy thindi was the Bhelpuri cart, which was prepared some of the authentic people of those times...
Items included Tomato Slice, Hesarubele mix, Congress kadlebeeja mix, Nippat Masale and loads of other yummy dishes to name a few....
    😋😋😋😋
It's unfortunate that most of the classic snacks from namma bengaluru are wholly replaced by other cities snacks and most of the charm has been loosing cause of it...

I am a witness to the growth of street food in Bangalore.
Initially it started with Dili shop in old town near the new road during late 60s
And in no time, it became a culture.
Your presentation bv was as interesting as the street food itself.
When do we see you conquering other states ??

Been to Food Street many years ago and waiting for this pandemic to end so I can go again. Your video took me back to some really nice memories. I love that kodubaley and bajji snacks along with so many dosai varieties, chaat, hot gulab jamoon, shakes etc. Few years ago, VB bakery opened an outlet 50mts from my home, their Congress bun and puffs are my favorite ❤️

Living in the states the only way to ''taste'' the food is to watch Kripal sir express his emotions after tasting the dishes. Please do visit V V Puram during avrekalu (lima beans) season, its packed with people and different dishes
