    Thanks for the tutorial! Is there a way to auto generate the rectangles used to cut out of the sun so that you don't have to manually adjust each one? I want the lines to be evenly spaced out and gradually increasing in size but I would imagine there is a feature that would allow this to be done?

    • @ArtistWright
      @ArtistWright  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris, yeah there is a way! It's called power duplicate. Select your rectangle. Press command J (on mac) that will duplicate the shape, now move the rectangle to where you want it, resize or whatever, then press command J again and it will repeat that action.

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtistWright Thanks for the reply! I'm wondering if there is a way to avoid having to manually adjust each section to the size you want. Here is what I'm trying to accomplish in Affinity that I'm able to easily do in Inkscape. Any idea if its possible to do something like that in Affinity?! th-cam.com/video/AMiJpBjPnbg/w-d-xo.html

    I have learned a lot from your video. Thank you. I am a complete beginner with no design background. I much appreciate that u remember to tell us what you are doing as u build your design. It makes it so much easier to follow. May I make suggestions for you to consider, that wud help me and other new people. 1. Re the mousecarrow, can u put it in a circle of colour so it is more easily tracked. 2. Layers - it is very difficult for me to work out what u r doing and sometimes why. I sort of get it, but confuses me at present. If u r able to help out in any way I would appreciate it very much. Such a relief to find someone who remembers there are new people looking as well as the more experienced. Cheers

Reflections are not bound by perspective if the original image is not drawn in perspective. the reflection of the sun and the moon in your image are placed as if they are more shadows than reflections. Hi!
    What isthe difference between crt C, crt V and just crt J. Isn't easier to do just duplicate the layer with one operation instead of two?

    • @ArtistWright
      @ArtistWright  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The c and v is the traditional way (i do it sometimes out of habit). V is power duplicate. Meaning you can duplicate whatever you want but also if you duplicate a shape that way then move it or make it smaller, the next time you press J it will carry out that same action.

    I was wondering if you may have a solution to a problem i faced trying to do this project with the sun, I get to the point where all the lines are in place and I click on the subtract to delete the black lines and it flips the whole circle in another direction where the yellow is no longer on the top it is on the left and the pink area is on the right is there a setting i need to change so that wont happen or have you not experienced that affect? i can show you it is before i click on subtract and after, and after watching this video it did not happen to yours. i hope you can help. thank you

    • @ArtistWright
      @ArtistWright  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ranae, thanks for watching I appreciate it. I can't say I've ever come across the problem you described. But may I suggest you create a compound shape to see if it makes a difference. Basically when you get to the part where you have all your black line layers (and they are on the top layers above the circular sun), select all the layers (the sun and the black lines) then hold down the ALT key and click on subtract. A compound layer basically allows you to reposition any edits you have made. That might not work but it's work a try just to see if your problem happens again. If not you can always use the gradient tool and reposition your gradient for the sun.

    great tutorial video! I'm trying to redo your stuff but was wondering if it was possible to use the new isometric tool from AF1.7 to mimic this kind of frontal perspective... --> I've got a pattern of hexagons that I would like to bend the same way you did your "ground-grid"... But I didn't managed to replicate it with my pattern of hexagonal shapes... it always seems "from above" and slightly biased.

    • @ArtistWright
      @ArtistWright  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there thanks alot, I haven't actually managed to play with the new grids in that update yet. But will have a look. @ArtistWright  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul! Thanks for the comment I appreciate it alot. I'm happy to hear my pace and explanations are working for you. If I don't do a certain action for a while in Affinity Designer I will forget too, your not the only one. I make designs based on things I love, I think that is a good start when thinking about what to design. That's why I recreated my own motorcycle in Affinity Designer (that's also a tutorial on my page). I would suggest creating something fairly simple first and getting used to using the tools you need. Maybe recreate a mobile phone

    Should've used the star tool for the grid

    • @ArtistWright

      I tried that actually, but it didn't give the right angle for the grid on the horizon

      Ade Inkheart on a mac it's the Apple symbol and the letter stated. Thus duplicates anything selected. Same as you would do when copying and pasting on a word document
