  • This is our national overview for Dominions 6 covering Early Age Agartha. We will go into the nuances of EA Agartha and give an overview of their troops and commanders, what spells to look for, an idea of scales and blesses and give some examples of pretenders. Hopefully I can guide new players in how they can start to play this fantastic game.

    Dominions 6 is a turn based 4x strategy game suitable for both play vs AI, player vs player. Team play vs AI or players also works great as everyone can do their turns at once. The game has a huge variety of units, spells, magic items and different nations to play.
    You are a God! You are master and ruler of a loyal nation. You have unimaginable powers at your disposal. You have claimed this world as yours. But there are others who stand in your way. You must defeat and destroy these pretenders. Only then can you ascend to godhood and become the new Pantokrator.

    Love the presentation! A danger I find in dominions videos is that it's super easy to just talk over the stat screens - which is fine for auditory learning but not super helpful for visual. Even just adding the magic and amphibian icons to the nation screen, and the whole overview page, helps out so much to my understanding. I appreciate the effort you've put in!!

      @ChazzyBurger  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks a lot! Adding it in does add a little in terms of making the video, but it's always worth it if it makes information easier to ingest! Let me know if there's anything else I could do to improve in the future and thanks for watching!

    EA Agartha is a fav of mine. always love to see videos about them. and nicely laid out, too!
    i do agree that underground indies are potentially nastier than overworld indies. some are easier than they seem, the half-giant cavemen are weaker to light infantry than you'd immediately think, but you need to get to MA Agartha before you get access that sort of thing so even running an earth dragon into some of the opponents on offer can be nerve-wracking. and never mind the huge mobs of shades and shade hounds. who put them there? who the hell put them there?!

    • @ChazzyBurger
      @ChazzyBurger  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The massive provinces of shades are the bane of my life, I had several of them in a recent multiplayer game as EA Pyrene, such a pain to deal with!

    I just won my first Dom6 MP game with EA Agartha. I fully admit I got a bit lucky with the Throne placement, but still it wasn't anything close to an auto-win.
    My pretender was:
    Great Sage
    Dom 7 Dormant
    O2S2H2G2L2M0
    F3E2S4D4G3
    2x Fire res
    2x Reinvigoration
    Arcane command
    Arcane finesse
    Did a lot of testing for this, and decided to go with Olms, as the rest of the army is kinda shit. They're ok as line holders, for a couple of turns of combat, but they really cannot kill anything on their own, due to garbage stats. The Olms we're the MVP. In the pivotal battle I has 200+ Olms, and they really wrecked the enemy, including hitting some mages and messing up their script. The bless gave them more penetration, as well as more "ammo", as the reinvigoration meant they could keep blasting for much longer.
    The rest of the bless was to fight the numerous Cold nations in the game, as well as protect my guys from from heat (either dominion or heat aura of Magma Children), and give Ancient Lords some ability to cart around Magma Children.
    My first research goal was Conj3, and once I got it, *all* fire gems went into Rhuax Pact. Magma Children, particularly with a strength buff from Earth Readers, are quite killy. As my main enemy in the game was Tir na n'Og, their area attack totally ignored glamour and high defence. By the end, Magma Children formed the majority of my front line.
    Also used Umbrals as raiders, since they have inbuilt stealth. A Bane or Bane Lord with Shademail Haubergeon, leading 10 - 20 Umbrals makes for a really annoying stealthy raiding force. Unfortunately I didn't find really any Death sites, so wasn't able to use this as much, end game Death income was 5.
    As a general point, their army is reeeally slow. I cannot think of one instance where I could move more that 1 province with an army. Also, Earthquake rocks, particularly underground. Your armored units can generally take two hits (one underground), and it will demolish any human hp armies.
    Anyway, just some thoughts off the top of my head.

    I really like EA Agartha. Psi boys rise up. I forgot they had recruit anywhere sacreds. That can be really powerful. I always forget about those Earth Elementals they're so funny. I have no idea why this game pleases me so much. I never thought of how hard finding the right blessings would be for them. Yeah I don't think a weapon skill would be good for them either between the magic glaives and the Olms. I've come to really like Enchanted Blood as a cheap version of Regeneration that also gives magic resistance and stops bleeding. It also works on living and undead troops which can be really handy for nations with sacred undead and living units like EA Therydos. A stone thrower build lol. Aha nice.

    • @ChazzyBurger
      @ChazzyBurger  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Psi boys rise up! They had recruitable sacreds in forts, but your Olms were only in caves, which given the fact that caves hardly showed up in the dominions 5 map generator meant it wasn't too useful. Now that they can be recruited in drip caves in dom 6 you have a much better chance! Enchanted blood is nice on them as it's cheaper, but the difference between it and regen is bigger than it would be for human sized sacreds, still a good shout though! The fact that as you say it works on undead is good for your wight oracles though! Good shout on EA Therydos, I haven't got that much experience with them so I'll try it out in my next game. Glad you liked the video!

    Troglodyts can't be hit in the head as they don't have a head. It says specifically in their stats (if you click on their size) that they can't be hit in the head, so if they can in Dom6 it is a bug.

    • @ChazzyBurger
      @ChazzyBurger  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah it's an odd one, I've had logs where trogs have been hit on the head, even though as you say they can't according to their hit locations, and it is weird that they also have natural protection on their "head", I think it is probably a bug that's just passed through so we'll see if it gets updated.

  • @131scavy

    I usually play MA Agartha instead of EA, but I've found it really funny to use the Black Bow for my sacred commanders, the D1 bow that causes feebleminded on hit.
    If I've got the spare death mage turns it's been neat to use since the Black Bow also uses 1/2 of the strength score instead of 1/3, so with some additional strength buffs those arrows hit like telephone poles.

    • @ChazzyBurger
      @ChazzyBurger  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Black bows are very funny, they're not always the best on EA Agartha due to your lower precision, I remember once in one of my multiplayer games one of my commanders with a black bow missed and hit my prophet, easy to say I was not pleased with what happened!

  • @Witty999
    @Witty999 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This is my fav faction from a lore standpoint, nice video! One thing is I didn't see you talk about is the low map move on your units. It's the slowest nation that I have played and it really affects your strategic options and delays expansion.

    • @ChazzyBurger
      @ChazzyBurger  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad you enjoyed the video! I do have a massive soft spot for Agartha, just wish they wouldn't make such bad decisions!
      The map move is a fairly bad part of the nation, though I will admit I gravitate more towards human nations in the game so I don't even notice the map move issues! You are a fairly slow and lumbering nation in terms of your forces, but you don't have the stealth or extra movement like flying to really make use of it anyway!

    Agree Attack bless + reinvig and a way to get higher cold/fire res good. No need for awake - say imprisoned to get astral as well, or dormant Cylcops building fire helmets and countering air/arrow problems. If you go that way Trog trampler and the good formation commander for prophet good opener choice so long as tramplers diagonally back on flank to hit engaged units from side they can kill vast numbers before they die heroically delaying half a poorly scouted army for just long enough & need max morale for repels from formation commander.

      Yeah it's great so many people are covering the nation! I've always thought that having varied opinions over Dominions helps everyone for finding strategies, different folks have different idea of how you can use the mechanics and the synthesis of those ideas makes better players out of all of us!

    Except for a few exceptions, Agarthans were fully amphibious in dom 5 too.

    • @ChazzyBurger
      @ChazzyBurger  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For the life of me I was sure that they weren't, I went back and checked and in Dom 5 you are right they are full amphibians, I checked Dom 4 and it was the same there as well, which confuses me because I remember specifically using wet ones for their amphibious trait rather than pale ones... Unsure whether or not this was patched at some point and changed, but regardless that nation overview needs changed, especially if I'm misremembering and it's been wrong for three games!
