    My whole family and I were there. Great game. I can tell you why there were so few people there though…
    A) They’re charging full qualifier prices for an exhibition. All while we’re in a terrible spot because of inflation. The average family doesn’t have that much extra $.
    B) TQL is not as nice as the new crew stadium. Anyone who was there for their last qualifier can attest that the stadium and its employees were terribly underprepared for those crowds.
    C) Advertising for this game was terrible. I spoke to so many fans who had no clue there was even a game.

    Seattle Sounders just a few months sold out their Concacaf Champions League Final match with over 68,000 fans in attendance, on a WEDNESDAY night. That’s more than most European teams can even hold in a stadium. The problem is not a lack of American soccer fans. As many others have stated the problem is ticket prices, advertising, and potentially location, but I actually think Cincinnati has a really good group of soccer fans so idk. When the US is playing competitive matches on home soil I’m sure it will be marketed and attended much better, but in a non competitive game they really need to drop the ticket prices and get more people to show up. I’m confident that given a better opportunity US fans will always show up and show out.

    • @belld.s5276
      @belld.s5276 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, its not about lack of interest in America. People watch golf, lol. Its 100 percent about advertisement and marketing. PGA does great marketing, NBA does outstanding marketing, NFL is the same. MLS...? Can’t say the same. NHL? Not quite on the level as the first 3, imo. MLB is on the decline, but still doing fine. Soccer is a great sport and when I was in school, it was just as popular as basketball and american football. And I grew up in Maryland.

    I'm a soccer/footie fan. Have been since the '94 World Cup. It never bothers me that you cover the beautiful game. Your initial take on the Super League was...how to be nice....naïve? Hurtful? But, you talked with someone who knew more than you and you changed your opinion (to the correct one). That is what I want out of someone that covers the game I love: a willingness to evolve.
    Also, I got into your show by watching that beautiful baseball documentary you did all those years ago. I think there is room for y'all to try out other sports in a similar fashion. I very much look forward to the Pat McAfee and Crew does Curling docudrama.

    Its like a lot of people are saying
    1 - There is no guarantee who is going to play. It could be the main team. It could be a mix of players trying to figure out the last few spots for starts XI. It could be mostly reserves. True for both teams.
    2 - Morocco is not a team with superstars. They are a solid team, but there is no draw from them outside of a fan being somehow linked to Morocco.
    3 - Its the middle of the week. That immediately makes it harder to not only be able to sacrifice your entire evening, but even to get to the game on time.
    4 - Its expensive. Especially when you mix that it is a friendly with point 1, those are very steep prices, especially as you can stay at home and watch with your family instead of going to the stadium and dropping $500+
    If the tickets were exactly the same as you would pay for a MLS game in the same spot, he has all the rights to complain, but to an extent I think its being out of touch with money. Him comparing it to club games would be like saying its a club friendly where season tickets arent valid and all the prices have doubled. No one showing up for that.

    As a Borussia Dortmund supporter Pulisic will allways have a special place in my heart. But before the US wins the World Cup this summer, the Jaguars win the Superbowl next season!
    On the topic of fan support... Pulisic played in front of 80k fanatic fans in Dortmund, now plays in front of 40k fanatic fans in London (big step down) and when it comes to the national team, he also sees what is going on if he plays friendly matches in Europe, South America or even Africa and Asia. I mean... There are a lot of teams in the 3rd german league who average at least 20k on average...
