I have now removed my transmission about 5 times for many reasons, I find removing the shifter completely is the simplest way. Once the transmission is back in I reinstall the shifter. All your videos are so helpful (sometimes I forget where stuff goes, and use your video as a reference). Thank you!

Five times, are you trying to set a record? I thought about pulling the shifter but decided to wrestle it back in the hard way. Glad the videos are helping. I went back and used them for reference several times over the restoration process.

@@ELDESTBuilds once again thank you and I've looked all through the manual and was unable to find the torque specs for the motor mounts. Would it be 59 foot pounds

Any thoughts on the "New Transmissions" with shorter throw etc. that are supposed to be a direct fit. Some say they need modifications to fit. I'd love to replace mine vs. rebuild. It is very sloppy but works fine with "deliberate shifting" only 52K on it. That said, I'd rather not think about the shifting and drive it harder. Any out there with wisdom around this? Thanks.

I have seen rebuilt transmissions on the vendor sites at about 2k (USD). New, Lada transmisssions for the Fiat for slightly less. My thoughts are, it's your car and your money spend it on what you want. Rebuilding your current transmission would cost considerably less, a transmission shop should be able to help. Purchase a shorter shifter handle, and give it a go.

@@ELDESTBuilds Thanks. $1,469 including shipping, new boot and shifter for new. I Figger I can sell the 54K one I'm replacing for ~$500. so $1K for a new vs. rebuilt is the way I'm going. I just don't have the skills you do. I'd take 10x as long. I'll let you know if it works out better. Appreciate all your excellent work. A
