I remember playing 18 years old Bulgarian guitar that I got for my birthday. At some point before this guitar ended up in the lake, it had nails in it and I could put hands in between strings and the body - such was the playability and the tone, and I loved it. That was long time ago, before yt. I mean reviews are great, and thanks for that, but also sometimes I think it takes away the joy of playing from people and in general, accepting things as they are. These guitars would have been an absolute dream to play in my teenage times, and it is such an amazing thing that music gear is easy to attain these days. Enjoy, whatever guitar you have.
Great revue! Have just picked up the 3 tone colour burst model. Love the alnico 2 humbuckers as they produce rhythm sound in the middle position. Great fun to play and it’s the perfect balance of Stratocaster and Les Paul.
Thanks for reviewing this guitar! I’m very interested in these style, because classic Teles are incredible, but just not quite forgiving enough for the slop in my play🤠 appreciate the way you reviewed it!
I felt rather stupid thinking that the coil tap didn’t apply to the neck pickup, I saw this at a music shop 2 days ago and didn’t think so much of it other than I really liked it and wanted one so here I am paying it off.
I've had this guitar for a while now. The fit and finish are excellent. The neck feels amazing and easy to play. The humbuckers seem kind of weak to me. Does not have as much punch as my single coil Tele or my Les Paul. Using an overdrive pedal makes it wake up but still a little subdued.
Hey, thanks for the video. I have to say that this particular set up does not inspire me either, however a split coil does have a serious inspiration when listening to Leo Fenders G&L Classic ASAT Telecaster with the 3 single coils " I kick myself every day for letting mine go. " - super versatile guitar.. I do believe that there is no substitution for the single coil in the bridge position on a telecaster. Thanks again.
Informative and I like your personality and all, I just don’t get youtubers who demo guitars and don’t mic the amp properly. We can all hear the acoustic ringing from the strings on top of the amp, which is a shame cuz other than that your approach is top!
I think i'm going for this, i have been looking for months at guitars i can throw a hot humbucker in that i have, this seems to be perfect to change into a single humbucker guitar, and it corrects the thin sounding standard ones.
Just came back from trying this at local GC and I was fairly impressed. I appreciate your very honest review. You mentioned this would not be your tele HH choice. Can you recommend other tele HH guitars you would put above in terms of quality and playability? Thanks
the Japanese Boxer Series are pretty cool, I definitely like the styling better in those than the old style. I just ordered a '17 MIM tele so I will soon figure out if I like the performance in it with my amp and playing styles. The Indonesian FMT version comes with Seymour Duncan's if you like those oh and you can always check out Charvel and ESP teles 👍
Great Review! Beautiful guitar. As for the configuration, I still prefer singles for the clarity and articulation that, in my opinion, humbuckers lack, humbucker always sound muddy and muffled as when someone put a blanket over the speaker and another thing is that humbucker sounds very linear...
I ordered one exactly like this a few weeks back and was dissatisfied with the fretwork from the factory. I found the fret ends to be sharply cut and needs to be rolled over to be it’s best. Otherwise I love the sound it makes with some gain!
You are right about the gain tones, really starts to sing with a drive. Bummer on the frets. All the player guitars I have received (4 total) have all had good frets, a few were exceptional. Are you using the coil split much?
I dont play guitar since the 1990s.i bought that exact guitar from japan mail order..used but never played. I bought jason Lolar imperial humbuckers to be fitted when it goes to the lutherer to set it and do all the frets and intonation and lower the action to around 2mm like he does. It should be as good as a fender custom shop guitar and have killer telle sounds and big noise when needed
I very much appreciated this review, it was very helpful. Do you think the word "crunch" be used in the same context as "girth" for this guitar? The way I describe what I am looking for is a tele with more "crunch" than what the single coil pickups provide. I took your "girth" comment to be in line with what I am looking for.
I didn't hear anything resembling a tele twang, even with the coil split. The only reason I would get a tele would be to achieve tones like Elliot Easton got on My Best Friends Girl. Doesn't seem like this does it. The right combination is probably humbucker in neck and traditional tele pickup in the bridge
Great question. I would take the SS in the player series. To me it just sounds a bit better. Not sure if it is how I expect a HH to sound but there ya go. My favorite tele right now is a HS with a H in the neck, just FYI ;)
I just bought the same guitar.. I just found this model has 250K pots and a cheap capacitor thats not what it should be. the pickups are not fender there a generic korean pickups used by epiphone, cort, and most under $600 guitars. Seymore duncan mid price humbuckers and 500k pots and orange drop cap all up under $300 and its better than a $2500 telle.
I've been watching Tele Player HH demo/review videos, bc I plan on buying this guitar. 1st impression, your amp is awful. Wasn't surprised when you said you changed tubes. But that didn't help any. Still sounded like you were playing through a barrel of water. Not a judgement, just doesn't do much for those of us, trying to really hear what this guitar really sounds like (before we buy). Also, it would have helped if you really stretched her legs and showed us what else she could do. Disappointed that you tested the same thing over and over, and over....and played the same thing over and over and over. Would have been nice to hear the pure tones, and some of the other tones possible on this guitar. It was nice to hear that you like this guitar, just wish you would have played it like you liked it.
For anyone thinking about buying this guitar, like me. Below is a better demo of what this guitar is capable of. Different color, but same guitar, same abilities. th-cam.com/video/_rwRZePr9rg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ES7gu2SiHs_Z3PC1
I had compared the PRS CE 24 and the Fender Telecaster HH Player series. And I voted for the Fender. You might ask why. Firstly, PRS CE is a great guitar, great quality control and sound amazing; however, for some reason it did not give the classic sound/tone while I was playing. The fender has that classic rock tone and soft/round tone in the clean channel. Secondly, the price. PRS CE $1,699 vs Fender $699. Yep, there’s $1,000 price range. Finally, what need to be upgraded to the Fender is the tuner, personally prefer locking tuner, to get a used fender style or any other similar locking tuner which will cost $30-$40. 🎸🎸🎸🎸

I just bought this same guitar and thinking about sending it back because of that muddy sound , it’s like an underwater feel. I hope your right about it being the amp because I love the guitar but man.
Assuming you are referencing the the Charger 290 I reviewed a few weeks back. They are really different guitars so hard to compare. If I had to choose between the two though, I would go with the Fender, a little more tonally versatile and it was more comfortable to play.
I just got this guitar and debating on if I should keep it or not. The pickups sound muddy , I can’t get a clear sound. It has that under water sound on most settings. Mines 3 tone sunburst and she’s beautiful but man.
Funny you say that. I didn’t realize how muddy they sounded until I tested it next to another tele with humbuckers. If you keep it, you may want to swap out the pickups.

As soon as you turn the volume from 10 to 9 you lose all of the little bit of tone you had. Anyone have a suggestion for pickups I could put in this guitar to make it brighter and more lively?
