Matches the 3 way blade switch tip? I dunno. Keeps the pick guard outline crisp (as opposed to what it would have looked like if the bridge pickup ring had been white)? Someone should photoshop what a white pickup ring would look like.
@@Wilco1972 To be fair, I don’t mind it in the yellow, black or sunburst finish, as the ring matches and blends into the pickguard. But this example- the blue finish: the ring stands out too much for my liking. Just my opinion.
Bought this HH tele in black a month ago, played it for 30 minutes, packed it up, and sent it back to Thomann. It felt like a downgrade in almost every way compared to my 15 year old Schecter, which is about half the price. The only thing I liked was the neck, it was really smooth, but I did find a few sharp frets. Overall, the quality wasn't what I expected at this price point. Both pickups were wobbly and noisy compared to my old Schecter's proprietary pickups, and the bridge pickup didn't have enough gain. They both sounded muddy, and there's no push-pull split. The volume and gain knobs were scratching against the metal plate. I thought there might be some dust or something causing it, so I cleaned it, but the issue persisted. The rosewood fretboard was really dry and dirty, not really an issue, but still odd since it just got released and came straight from the factory. I also bought their classic SRS case, and it felt like a cheap, generic case. It was my first Fender, always wanted a tele, but would not recommend this one.
I tried this guitar, but it sounded really muddy to me. I was thinking at least put a 5-way switch for versatility and update the pups. Do you think it is doable and worth it?
Yes, it different. But coming from a 50-year les paul player . Fenders with humbuckers just sound different... And it's due to a few factors such as scale length and pick. Positioning. Not in a bad way just different. It's not going to sound like a paul even PRS with 25inch scale and 24 frets positions the neck pick up in a different spot . I am just saying even tho it has two humbuckers, I don't think it is going to sound like a les paul.,but if you like the of the sound of it that's all that matters...
I totally agree. I have a Les Paul and I played one of these Teles the other day. Definitely different sounding, in a good way. Love my Les Paul though
I bought a 2022 version and the alnico 2 humbuckers that came in mine sounded muddy as hell. I replaced them with a pair of Fender Shawbuckers and I love the guitar now. I wonder if they updated the pickups along with the fresh update..
Yes, the pickups are completely different from all the reading and researching I did before purchasing. And they are anything but muddy in every video or sample I've heard. Mine arrives tomorrow. I'll let you know how they are :)... I'll compare them to an original player tele with stacked SD single coils and another original player as it is. Also, compared to my fender tele thinline deluxe with p90s and cort g300 pro with the SD TB4 and SH2N humbuckers in... on a side note that guitar kicks the guitars 3 times it's prices ass!! So if it's on par with that, including how it's finished, I would be surprised, but I wouldn't doubt that it could do though too much based on what I've heard and read. And none of my higher priced guitars touch the cort, it's just the name on the headstock that is stopping that guitar from being 1.5k easily. The specs are unbelievable, and the finish and little details to them is fantastic. It's so good in fact that I've accidentally gone from speaking about my new tele arriving to explaining how good it is 😂😂😅. When prestige Ibanez's and 1.4k esp's and charvels aren't beating a 500-600 GBP guitar, you know they could all be doing a lot better than they are. Only fender is consistent to me so far, in terms of being extremely good and worth the price. Sorry for the essay 😅
Holy F***!!! This thing RIPS!!! I was wrong. It sounds better than every single one of my guitars, I did a/b testing with a looper with my most expensive and my most expensive pickups... none of them had the clarity and brightness while maintaining the high gain that the new tele player ii did. It was like playing a les paul but with more middle and trebble. Honestly, I've seen it nicknamed the LP killer, and omg, they might be right... actually, they are right. For the price too, it's amazing. It feels like it's worth more than double the price and sounds it too. The neck is perfectly rolled, the satin back feels sublime, the body is gorgeous, and the belly cut is welcomed. The pickups are the star here, despite it being finished as good as an American tele imo, it sounds just as good also as the American HH tele. Its pickups are out of this world good. Whether for lead or rhythm, I can't see anything beating this for under 1.5k, seriously its that good. Recommend to everyone!!!
Funny you say that, I have read on several forums that the Player 2 pickups in these guitars ARE actually modified Shawbuckers. They sound great! Full and warm but nice and bright in the bridge and not muddy at all in any position. Stellar pickups!
Man I've got one on the way arriving tomorrow and I couldn't explain to you how excited I am to pluf that bad boy in. I went for the sunburst with black pickguard and maple neck+fretboard. I will come back with a comprehensive analysis for more first hand experience and I'll compare it to a few guitars of similar value and a couple over twice the value... I can already tell and hear from this that it is going to punch way above its price point. I have a feeling it'll be my no.1! Really hope you manage to get one asap and can come back and let me know how you like it too 👍. I'll be back tomorrow with a review for you to see if I can push you into it 😂.
It's not necessarily a benefit but rather just something different than a traditional telecaster. Certainly there is less noise, and a bigger sound but it's not traditional tele which I love too. Go for both! Thanks for watching
I would like a Telecaster with a humbucker in the bridge. I have seen a few. I guess it would be a custom deal, or buy a USA tele and have one put in. That could probably be done for 2,500.-I would think.
I wonder if there'll be a massive BonFire of Pauferro necks or fretboards, at least? This would be adding to the Greenhouse effect. 😱 As a result, the Ozone layer would become too thick to breathe & the additional Rosewood trees would be under even more threat because of that. It was silly to look at an all black Guitar, such as my Epi Goth SG with a "Red Neck"! Pun not intended. I fixed that by occasionally "oiling the Fretboard, with used Sump Oil." Now I can take it out in public & be Proud of what I'm playing. Back in Black! Great Guitar, by the way!
You seriously LIKE the sound of these muffled, muddy pups? Only the middle position sounds even vaguely OK, both clean & dirty. Imo Fender should stick to its single-coil knitting, where even it's lower-end (Squier CV) pickups sound great. Even comparing this to an Epi SG should be enough to convince you.

I used your link and bought the guitar. You’re quite the salesman! Actually, I trust you.
I appreciate you opening up the hood to check the tone pots. I had seen in older versions of the Mexican HH Tele’s they’d use 250k pots.
why the black pickup ring on the bridge humbucker? Makes it look like a mistake.
I would have to agree

@@jasonswitzer1748 Well, the question is: black or white, why have a pickup ring at all?
Actually, I was thinking it might look slick with the black 3-ply pickguard.

What Schecter do you have? Literally looking between one and this tele.
@@cryptokingz615 Schecter Omen Extreme 6 from like 2008-2010 made in Korea. Not sure what year it was actually made. Would totally recommend

gain knob?
Nice guitar! Sounds good, but I prefer the Wide Range 'buckers in the Classic Vibes. Personal preference is a funny thing

I love that sound I may have to get one down the road
Really want this. Should sound awesome with a JB bridge and 59 neck pickups ??
loving the content, any plans for a player II jazzmaster review?
Yes, they should be available this month or next and we look forward to reviewing! Waiting on shipments from Fender. Thanks for watching!
That was some killer playing I just got the player 1 hh Tele awesome jam man
It sounds a bit flat like my HH Jag. I'll stick with an SS.
so whats the benefit of the HH over the classic single coil? less noise?

Tele with just the Humbucker in the bridge ? The Fender American Pro series has one like that.
amazing color!
The neck sound sweet❤
how much do they weight?
He said 8 pounds.. or 3.6kilos
That high e string living on the very edge of the fretboard.
Exactly what prevents me from buying Fenders and EVH’s unless I find one that doesn’t have that defect.
Some one bought an original player tele just before these were announced
@mikemph7779 easy fix. You just gotta loosen off the neck, shimmy it in to place, and re tighten the screws. Takes a minute tops.
@@CasualSavage92thank you!
Get a new nut ✌️
