As a blind audio engineer, who is just starting out and it’s looking for a small set of speakers that is portable these are really good thank you for the video. Also huge fan of your content. right now I’m using the kali audio WS 12 and their three-way 5 inch studio monitors.
This is my first time watching one of your videos. Absolutely love the way you break things down and the no BS approach. Thanks for this awesome review!

Seen the show video release on em where they talked they but never played them, didnt know the volume knob had multi function great work bolo ... lets see if z sounds carry them will grab. pair today.. they have thank you bolo
I'd like to get a pair of thrse for my MPC KEY-37 "portable " setup!!!! They'll probably be great speakers for traveling and mixing on a laptop at an off-site location, too, like a friend's house or a hotel room.
@BoloDaProducer Oh yeah, Kali Audio has a similar portable desktop speaker setup that even includes a separate dedicated bass unit, too. I think it's around $600 for the set. It's called the IN-UNF 3-Way Powered Studio Moniter System. With that said, I don't know how good it sounds because haven't heard it in person. Second thought, after further research on the Kali Audio speakers, I think the Adams D3Vs are a more attractive and probably a better more practical option, regarding portability and sound.
Are they better than the Krk desktop speakers ?…could you do a comparison video possibly ?…genuinely appreciate your insight on products and in general
i have some Adam Audio T7V's. These smaller monitors are very compelling. Kinda wanna downsize my workspace OR have the option to reference on a 2nd set of monitors. This might be cool for that use case since I don't have a lot of room. T7V's, D3V, DT770, and theeeennnn THE CAR TEST.
Another great little video review of these amazing little monitor speakers! For how small the package really is, those passive radiators are a game changer!!! Like if y'all are huge fans of the JBL Flip portable bluetooth speakers, you already know of their sorta big sounding bass. These are too incredible for the low price! I too got them, last week, via ZZsounds! I got em cus where I'm currently staying, I have no space for speaker stands and the JBL LSR-305's MKII that I used to use on the daily! To be fair, I think I almost, now, prefer these over the JBL's!!! Yes, them ribbon tweeters are legendary for a reason...crispy sweet high frequencies!
Thx for your channel and for this video. I've just ordered D3V's to my desktop PC system. I would like to ask for your advice on what connection you would recommend from a desktop computer: > OPTION 1 is: from Asus Xonar AE sound card connected to the main board of my PC: 1 x mini jack from PC Asus sound card to 2 x analog TRS balanced inputs in D3V. > OPTION 2 is: 1 x USB A from my PC motherboard to 1 x USB C in D3V. I'm just not sure whether this balanced connection (option 1) will actually be balanced, since the signal from the PC sound card will come out via one mini jack. Thank you in advance!
Bruh! These are dope! I can hear the details through the phone. Mannnn you gave me some ideas to experiment with surround sound or dolby atmos style mixing with these. 🤔
yep, just connect and windows detects em.. then you have to double click the volume button to select the usb, the light on the front will turn light blue. if you want to hear the source from the analog inputs you click once and it light turns green
@@QR_Code I was asking specifically about class-compliance with the *MPC* (One, Live, X, etc.). The last time Bolo reviewed portable speakers with a USB connection (KRK), the MPC OS didn't detect them as an audio device, so he had to use the regular inputs.
@@tagpassoh sorry i misread the question. but can i ask why you would need speakers to be class compliant. i thought the point of that was for carrying multichannel audio thru and interface? are you just lookin to have a single digital usb connection from from the mpc to the speakers?
@@Yeeeeer cables shouldnt be an issue because you still have to deal with the power supply and the multipin din cable to connect the left and right speakers
Is there a way to turn off the sleep function on these? They auto turn off after a certain amount of time (20 mins?) if there's no signal (usb c) input on them. They don't manually turn back on once you start playing music - you have to press the power button on them to turn them back on. This is sort of a deal breaker if there isn't a work around.
Hi @albertmills9365! We’ve heard your feedback about the sleep mode on the D3V, and we’re happy to share that the next firmware update will address this. The standby activation time will be extended from 20 to 60 minutes, and you’ll also have the option to completely deactivate the automatic standby. Thanks for helping us to improve your experience with the D3V-all the best from Berlin! Daniel
I needed this video... its just started but I been looking at these lil things. Currently using iLoud micro and my own modified nearfield monitors. These look hard af I know they're gonna move air better than the iLoud micro (no port chuff).
just opened mine, not too shabby. but the reason i got these instead of, i dunno ilouds or whatever is the 3/8 mount on the bottom. got a few turbo small mic stands that clamp to the table et voila. wish it had power supply built in, but i guess they are too small for that, so just a heads up… it comes with a power brick which is luckily tiny. also the provided stands tend to slide out if you are not too careful. also, watch it when moving them, picking them up because of those two woofers or whatever on the sides. was putting them back into the box and i forgot about those, so yeah. for 250$, is how much i paid, they are great. cheers.
Thanks for the review. Since it’s a class D amp is there any hiss / noise from the tweeters at low volume or when there’s no signal? That made me return Presonus 3.5 some time ago. It was annoying.
Can both of the inputs be used at the same time? For example, can i run a macbook into the usb input and a synth into the analogue input and have sound from both devices happening at the same time?
alright Bolo.... for an MPC set up.... you taking D3V's ? or KRK GoAux 4s? would love to get your thoughts!!! Also would love to see you test out the new iLoud Micro Pro joints that just came out!
These are fantastic period...not even for the price or size, they are perfect small near field B or C speakers. We used to mix down to a boombox and then later regular pc speakers to emulate typical listening scenarios, but truth is everyones tastes and the quality of even lower level gear has evolved so greatly the last place to really dial in? Is your phones speakers, so this demo is actually amazing considering I could still feel that bass on my damm Galaxy 😂... I bought these a while back and replaced some decent JBL small factor playback/desktop speakers...they sucked honestly. These things are just amazing and I do all kinds of music in my room, beats to orchestral minimalism, folk, rock, gospel...even metal. I can't say enough about these little beasts
yes you can. i just did that for the test drive. balanced cables from mpc live 2 outs to balanced inputs on the back of these (actually only one since everything, all connections are in the back of the left speaker… power, inputs and cable that connects to the right monitor). i did notice i had to crank the volume on both mpc and speakers well above 50%, it all seemed too quiet but have not inspected further.
I know KRK right now it is MAD 😖but the father of these small design type monitors goes to Roland Ma12-C came out in 1998. Alright Yamaha give me some some portable NS10s design like these. So now we need a video Mackie, KRK, JBL, IK Loud, vs Genelec 3" 8010
Krks are dope! But after I use these, I like these a little bit better. But the Krk’s have more bass, if that’s what you’re looking for. These have a better overall sound, personally. I got other monitors similar to these, but they do not sound good at all and I’m not going to do a review on them.
This is all cool, but I would like to see a comparison of these Adam Audio D3V vs Kali Audio LP-UNF. Who would like to see the same comparison, like this comment.
Wondering if anyone on here is experiencing the same issue as me, or maybe mine are defective. It seems that certain frequencies are getting stuck between the crossover point? Mainly female voices; they shift between clarity and an intense veil / inversion. It’s quite jarring and a bit hard to explain, but I can replicate the issue across multiple songs unfortunately. I can also replicate this issue with both the balanced input & the USB digital input. Anyone on here having the same issue?
Would you recomend these for me? I dont produce anymore. I only listen to music everyday, and rarely do some gaming on my PC. But i do like high quality when listening to music. Would you recomend these to me even if i dont do any producing?
