Always make sure to follow all the instructions! Last time I forgot to enter the car through the windshield and the brand new windshield fell off of the car the next day!
Tip from experience roll ur windows down !!!! If u close the door with all the windows closed there is a possibility the the pressure build up will cause the windshield to actually pop out
@@iziahchavez4040I’m at a window repair place right now and he agreed with the guys statement. He said if the interior gets too warm while the glass is bonding it can cause it to move even slightly that can effect the seal of the window as it sets
Just wanna say that I'd bee on disability if I used a manual caulking gun! With around 800 windscreen replacements per year my best friend in the world is my Milwaukee M12 caulking gun! And a long blade for those parts where the window knife, or pull knife as we call it here is usually faster than a wire, unless you have a car, like some Skodas and Wolkswagens where the knife just won't fit then I use an Aegis Solo Cut 2 composite wire cutter. But those are personal preferences! All in all a very good video, and I snorted out loud about the mandatory "enter trough windshield"
My old 1999 Ford Taurus wagon I will attempt this because no one want to work with a salvage windshield. Window installers can’t find new windshield. Wish me luck.
When you said you "mask off the area" is it absolutely needed? As in if, later the material was snagged out on accident by say... a sun visor... Would it cause a leak with its absence? Asking for a friend...lol
What urethane did he use? Can you provide a link please to one you recommend? Would this process be pretty much be the same for a side rear quarter window? Mine has just randomly fallen off my ford focus. It only appears to be held in place by the urethane.
Junk yard. But most likely you can find people in your area that do it for around 100 used and 200 new. That how it’s down in Jax fla. don’t go to safe light. Moonlight glass and company.
Not really, the tools and glass cost for doing a job like this one will cost you just as much if not more than just to get it done professionally. It only takes us around 40 minutes to do a job like this and then the windshield has to sit for 30 mins before drive away. Most people have insurance for this stuff anyway.
@@Anthony_ausUnless, like me, you had the tools to cut the windows for years (stripped & scraped plenty of cars & also taken a few windows out in junkyards). You can get them for less than $10 at Harbor Freight. Bought a long knife for less than $20. I had a good windshield I cut out of another car years ago. For popular cars you can also get windows/windshields from restoration parts suppliers. Who doesn't own a chalk gun?!
Okay that was some of the most annoying music ever! I didn't click on the video to be entertained, I wanted to learn. Irritating music doesn't do a thing for that.
They have to pay labor, operating expenses, glass costs with freight etc, taxes, payroll taxes and try to turn a large profit so they'll stay in business. Glass is really expensive right now.

What???
Loved the 'enter car through windshield (mandatory)' part LOL. Got my thumbs up just for that line

No definitely not
That makes no sense. You must’ve just installed it wrong. No car is pressure sealed like a plane is.
😂
Just had my windshield replaced (still doing the job at the glass place) I asked him and he also confirmed you need to roll your windows down.

Cheers lads,
Confirmed what I suspected and took the daunting aspect out of doing my own
How'd it turn out?
Good work bro. it will help in my exam . ( Love from India )
What kind of glue?
Safelite or privately owned? What wouldyou do

What type of product would you use for a 70 nova front and rear glass?

You would probably get away with just the black urathane and taping with painters tape so it doesn’t slide with setting.
what are they putting down when they say "mask off the area?"
Where do you buy the glass?
suggest local scrap yard or vehicle part out. Ebay is expensive but is last ditch best luck

For anyone else looking for the same answer, automotive glass repair shops sometimes sell supply-only. Best of luck
@@saucysuishi341what about Safelite?
gebruiken jullie die subaru justy nog? ik zou hem graag willen over kopen! mvg stan
stan versteeg momenteel geschorst. Hebben er weinig tijd voor helaas en waterpomp en radiateur zijn lek jammer genoeg
Why is jonah hill replacing a windshield on a civic
Enter car thru windshield mandatory 🤣🤣
Is it true that scratching the car is inevitable?
But urethane is meant to adhere better to a small amount of old urethane, yes ?
What does he use when it says mask the area
@AJ Hauter thank you very much
Does anyone know. How much its gonna cost to get new windshield on a 2006 Nissan Altima. Thanks
I have a 06 camery and I just fixed it yesterday. Got quotes from $160 - $250.
@@trewten5579 that's not too bad. You fixed it yourself?
I have a 2003 honda pilot, I need mine replaced too
They charge my brother 250. For a altima. Its cheaper as i thought
@@nachosilva3777 thanks, that's good to know.
He kinda did ok. Best DIY video he must have did auto glass befor
So is DIY THAT cost effective?

@@Anthony_aus That’s what I figured. I looked into the tools and such. I will not be doing this DIY any time soon.

@foxfordcatguy2283 nah if they're using those tools to do the job from home for the first time unassisted, they're going to fuck it up pretty bad.

No way it's as easy as that 🤷♂️
Seems like the easiest way to break into a car lol
Or just pay a proffesional
lol good idea because if im looking at diy I can afford a professional
Why you watching this video then?
They want $365 to replace mine. I removed one at junkyard for $20, using $20 tool. Urethane is another $40.
