    Beautiful horn. Not sure the low A feature was well demonstrated here. Everything was beautiful, soft, dry and cool then.... A!

      Kirin as a person who plays a low a mark vi i can say this is wrong. it actually sounds quite nice. this player kind of randomly threw them in there out of nowhere so it sounded odd and it didn’t seem like he dropped his jaw enough to play a nice full low tone

      I know this is 4 years ago and I'm sorry, I think the player just did it for demonstration purposes to show an A is actually there. Have a nice day. :)

    The Low A actually sounds as the Low C on the Viola so it's the same range as a Viola (or 5 String Violin). It actually reminds me of another instrument that was made recently, the Stuart and Sons 108 Key Piano which has the same range as an Organ, 9 Octaves so the Keys are grouped into 9 sets of 12

    Had one when I was a music major in college. What a great horn. Loved the Low A key, I can't give you a technical reason, but it always felt like it helped the intonation, and it DEFINITELY gave it a warmer sound. Being a Bari player in Jazz Ensemble, when I was playing the Alto, and reached for the Low A, it was there! Nice horn. Wish to HELL I still had it.

  • @oreodog
    @oreodog 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I played one for a bit but traded it in for a BA. Anyways part of me misses that horn. It was setup so well that the low a felt easier to play than some other notes. The extra key really does something that makes the horn feel different, like it has more mass to push even harder.

    They should make more low A E flat alto saxophones. They should also make low A B flat soprano, low A G mezzo-soprano, low A B flat tenor, low A G mezzo-tenor, low A B flat bass, low A E flat contrabass, low A B flat subcontrabass, low A G great subcontrabass and even the low A E flat sopranino saxophones.

    • @asquare9316
      @asquare9316 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      there are low A E flat contrabass (Eppelsheim and J'elle Stainer) and low A B flat bass (J'elle Stainer). A low A soprano would be awesome as well as low A sopranino. At least all E flat saxes should have low A as they are, by far, the best saxes.

    Why can’t tenors have this

    • @Kevin-ek1su
      @Kevin-ek1su 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Abedin Subashi personally I think it’s because, bari saxes were the first ones to have low a and pretty much are the only ones. Then they tried to make a low a for the saxophone that’s an octave higher but still in the same key, alto sax. So in other words I believe it’s because of the Eb instruments. But I think a low a is better for a baritone sax than a tenor or a alto

    • @zvonimirtosic6171
      @zvonimirtosic6171 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most likely because, on alto & tenor, low A is raised within the everyday audible frequencies, and it sounds like a camel fart; the sound is not very pretty and it enlarges the size of an instrument.. On the baritone sax, though, human ear is not too sure because low A on a baritone is so low, it sounds passable. And bari sax already has a huge horn to accommodate it.

They are 3-1/2 steps apart, a perfect fifth. If any two notes could be called the most important notes in western music it would be both C and G.

      well I think the low A alto never took off because it made the horn look a lot less sexy. the bari was already ugly as fuck so that's why it works there. but changing the classic shape of alto or tenor is a no go. No one wants a sax with a big ass.
