It works well if the walls have problems but, It's because of the unknown sources specially around the bathroom areas and the internal pipelines that the problems exists. If you can find the source first it's the best, moreover follow the same treatment on top of it and if possible apply wall tiles. Looks best, and more or less becomes a permanent solution to it. And grout properly all the flooring and wall adjoining points of the bathrooms as well. Then be assured, you are saved 👍
Fix the source of moisture. It is coming from under, inside or backside. What happens when you put a carpet over mud, eventually mud starts coming out of carpet. So clean the source, dont put carpet over it
Money spent for such experimental work would go in vain untill you could not identify the source of such leakage and do needful to repair the same. Entire repair work should go in side room rather to go outside.

@@vid111 its not due to the sand. Its the wall putty that is not applied evenly or not get sanded down that gives the final look lumpsy
