- Update: This was replaced by a 2001-130 in April 2020.
Siren: ACA P-50, 3 RPM, 470/705 Hz
Town: Joliet, IL
Location: Hosmer St. and Norley Ave.
Test Time: 1st Tuesday of the month 10 AM
Cycle: 1 minute of alert.
Siren starts at 2:12.
This is the April 2, 2013, test of the ACA P-50 located in a residential neighborhood in Joliet. Bill (amtrak3501) and I met up to do 2 P-50s in Joliet. He was one at Joliet West High School a couple miles to the southwest. Before the P-50 started up, you can hear Lockport's 2001s, Romeoville's 2001s (faintly), and an Exelon T-128 and P-50 (faintly).
It's also rare that I show ambiance before a siren starts, but in this case, the other sirens kept going into when the P-50 started, so that's why there's a long delay until the P-50 actually starts.
Another side note is that several years ago (when I was still little), this siren scared me to death when we were at a nearby relatives' house and the sirens went off for a tornado warning (I used to be very afraid of tornadoes, though to this day I still have never seen one in person.) That was probably 2003ish. Now, 10 years later, I film this siren with ease.
Update: the current Google Earth imagery was taken the day of this test.
wow I never expected it to be clean loud and powerful all in one
Awesome video! Great ambiance, and great sound of this siren. You can really hear the air moving through this siren. Thanks for sharing.
DAMN, that's one healthy beast right there!!
Kevin O i live in shorewood and i can still hear this bad boy, its definitely healthy.
the people who live in those houses next to the p-50 probably wish the city would move it...
until a tornado touches down...
BRUHHHH I KNOWWWW
Does joilet have a toilet
Sussex , WI late 1970's , every Wednesday at Noon , the P-50 would be tested....I have never seen a tornado in person , but always wanted to.....
You can here the 2001 siren ambiance
I hearva 2001 and a very distant p50
DAMN, that was awesome
They need Sentry 40V2Ts sirens
Yeah
Do you think the city will move this siren to a more open space away from the homes or were the homes built on the spot where the siren has stood for so many years
Dont they have a thunderbolt too? on a seperate system?
I feel bad for the people who live right next to it. lol i wonder whta they think.
They probably only feel the vibrations and think nothing of it, because they are probably deaf at this point.
For some odd reason I don't care for the p-50 I like the new asc t-135 more but then again I love the cyclone... It's hard to explain lol great video though!!'n they should get rid of the 2001s and get t-128s or 135s
Yea I like the cyclone more than all of them....
No they can't
@@neosho53059 the cyclone is also my #1 favorite siren, hence the cyclone in my profile
Update: this has been replaced by a 2001.
What a downgrade
Why do they always replace sirens with 2001s? It's actually annoying now :(
I agree with both of you
i would hate having a siren this close to my house
its still there
Not in 2020. A federal signal 2001 replaced it. RIP p50
this siren is the one loudest of world
The P-50 is just behind the Chrysler siren for the loudest siren.
B♭ !
what port?
8/12
@@supertyfon1736 what if there’s also a 4 port? Rare?
@@blueguycommenteryt7054 this is just like an asc cyclone c125 siren, only difference is cyclone is like an non rotating p-50 siren, but same sound and port ratio I believe.
