- Hi guys,
In this video I have shown practically, the Single Layer, Full Pitch winding of a 3 phase, 24 slot, 4 pole Alternator using three different colour wool, i.e. Red, Yellow, Blue.
I have used self-made card board model of an alternator for winding.

In first case 5:01 ( 24 slots 4 pole machine) yellow phase is wound after winding of red phase is finished.We get RYB. In second case 10:01 ( 36 slots 4 pole machine) why blue phase is wound earlier? It will look like RBY. ??
Hay dear,
There is the different colours, Red, Yellow and Blue are just taken for different phases indication ONLY.
You can replace the Blue by Yellow in 36 Slot case. No problem at all.
In actual case of Alternator winding, there is no color in windings, but different phase marking is done by U, V, W or R, Y, B or 1, 2, 3 etc.
So, please don't confuse.

@@PranabsLab Agreeing with your reply,what if I want RYB phase sequence strictly, First case I.e. 5:01 is correct? Second question is 120 degree phase difference is ok to understand but the new winding i.e. yellow winding may lead or may lag red winding (in first scenario 5:01) how to be sure that yellow winding will lag red winding? Please explain
Both cases are correct. If you need to get the sequence RYB strictly then in first case, if you rotate the Alternator in clockwise direction, then in 2nd case to get RYB sequence, you have to rotate the machine in anticlockwise direction, or vice versa.

Can you tell my why some alternators do not have center tap wire? I have old Opel Ascona C alternator I dismanteled that thing.
It has only stator 3 wires, diode trio, voltage regulator with brushes thats all.
Im wondering why those diode trio is importent? And whats inside that voltage regulator why that charging light bulb goes off?
Im experiancing back charging often and aperantly for some reason my alternator gets effected if I use hv capacitors aperantly the charging start charge rpm get chenged .
So can I change starting charge rpm on my alternator with diferent capacitor values with out modifieing rotor?

It is much more simple than three phase coil winding.
please sir, I have a question what is the relationship between stator poles and rotor poles? For example if a have 4 poles stator I need to have same amount of poles in rotor to apply the formula which we can find the nominal speed of that generator?
Number of stator poles are to be equal to number of rotor poles.

all generators need to have same amount of poles in the stator and rotor, so if stator has 6 poles also rotor need to have 6 poles, is that correct sir?

The synchronous speed will be reduced

Turns per coil per phase depends on the size of the machine.
I mean to say, for large alternator of large kVA rating, more no of turns are needed than smaller one.

AC Generator ke rotor 12 pole ke v hote hain. Usey salient pole type alternator kehte hain. Is type ke alternator ko low speed operation, jaise ki hydel power plant me istemal kiye jate hai.
Pole ke sankhya badhne se speed ghat jata hain.

It depends on the kVA rating of the Alternator. In this model I have shown, only one coil.

How to calculate wire gauge for how many voltage of armature
For wire gauge, voltage is not the criteria, its current.
Depending on HP or kVA, current is calculated, then as per full load current for Generator and starting current for motor, SWG is determined for winding.
BTW, winding insulation depends on Voltage.
