Kohli really looked exhausted in some of the recent matches. He was playing too much cricket(plus captaining all three formats and in ipl). He definitely is a very good test captain. BCCI should have been clever enough to make him concentrate in test matches(and captain the team too) and ask him to reduce the number of odis and T20. Change in body language of Indian cricketers was started under Ganguly's captaincy in my opinion and Dhoni took it off from there. The current indifference to Kohli is absolutely because of his "recent" political stance, I have no doubt about that.
I agree with Ajims on his take on Dhoni's and Kohli's contributions in moulding the Indian teams into fighting units that could look any opponent in the eye. But I certainly disagree with him on what he said on some of our pace bowlers of yore. He has a ridiculously low opinion of a great man like Kapil Dev who once held the world record - 431 wickets - for maximum test wickets. He was voted as India's Cricketer of the Century in 2002 ahead of legends like Sunil GVaskar and Sachin Tendulkar. Kapil Dev was not bowling at Anil Kumble' speed. He bowled at an average of 135 kms/hr. As for fitness he never missed a test due to injury in his whole career. Javagal Srinath was also a genuine fast medium bowler who cloaked an average of 135 - 140 kms/hr. His injuries were due the tremendous work load he carried because of the lack of any real support from the other end unlike our present day crop of pacemen who operate as a genuine quartet. Ajims while making a mention of Ajit Agarkar and Venkatesh Prasad totally ignored another stalwart like Zaheer Khan who has more than 300 test wickets in his kitty. Ajims also had the audacity to say that nothing will happen to Indian cricket if Kohli were to retire as a player now. Indian batting is already in the doldrums with Pujara and Rehane woefully out of form and if Kohli is to go now the batting will definitely struggle in the short term. Yes, the team will make a come back in the longer term as nobody is indispensable in any field of life.
