I landed here only trying to verify that there was or wasn't a polarity on the solenoid wiring and found myself watching the whole video simply because it was done so well. This gentleman is very well spoken and a great instructor. Great camera work as well. Thank you for the video.
Thanks. Seven years ago when my house was built the installer did not remove the wire bridge at the Rain Sensor connector, he just connected the wires now I know why the sensor never worked. Thanks again for solving a "Cold Case".
Well I have to say Thank you so much! Everyone told me it’s easy but would never explain it. Thank you for explaining it and showing it. I feel like I can handle this now.
Love your video! You explained everything so well and thst makes it so easy to understand! It really helped me understand how those parts of sprinkler system work.
Thanks so much. This is one of the best instructional videos I've seen... No Frills. My Sprinkler has been out for a few weeks now and was about to call for an "EXPERT". Wonder how much YOU saved me... Thanks!
Very informative and enlightening! You've given me the confidence to attempt repairing one of the zones on my controller that keeps shorting out the system. Thanks so much for your excellent video! Cheers!
Great info. The sprinklers stopped working one day so after looking at this video I figured out that whoever installed it miswired the control panel. The common was where one of the rain sensor wires should have been and the rain sensor wire was in the common. Switched them and now it works fine. The question is how was it working for several years wired incorrectly?
Thank you, very clear video. I have a question: if I have 4 solenoid valves will i need to use a waterproof connector with 5 wire inputs? I cant seem to find any, do they exist ?
Thanks for the video, i will now try to repair my system. Sidenote: you used red and green as triggers, then to power you used red and yellow. Im surprised noone noticed it and made smartass comments
If the valve manufacturer makes both latching and AC controllers then it may be possible. For example Bermad make both types of valve, so it may be possible to just change the solenoid actuator (the bit with the wires) on the top of the valve assembly.
Funny at marker 5:54 he said "if you remember, we used the colors red, yellow and black cables" Guess he forgot in marker 2:18 it was red, green and black.
haha, yes, he mentioned solenoid nmbr 2 will be green but he connected yellow wire to it, but finally yellow was connected at the panel. Nevertheless, its place was designated for green, yellow did not want to stay.
Brits are great instructors...they have a command of the King's English. I am an American. Even though we fought against the British to be free and have our own nation, we fought and died together decades later, side by side in WWII , against the "Progressive Globalists" of that time then, the German Nazis.
This may be silly question but I have 4 solenoid valves do I twist the 4 'common' wires together and try to fit them into one terminal on the crimp connectors alongside the multi-core 'common' wire? Or perhaps twist two each together and crimp into two ports alongside the multi-core 'common' wire.
As long as the valves are 24v valves from a mains powered system then it is fine to bring all of the common wires together - 9v latching valves are different.
Mike, if I have a second manifold twenty feet away from the first manifold, am I still connecting the second manifold solenoids to the first set by daisy-chaining the solenoids with the common wire? In other words, my setup would be: Common wire from controller to manifold1/solenoid1_common wire_manifold1/solenoid2_common wire (20+ feet long)_manifold2/solenoid1_common wire_manifold2/solenoid2.
So I setup 1 timer with 2 zones last year works great. Now I add 2nd set in back. Can I use P on the timer as a 2nd ground or I HAVE to tie in my old ground wire. Twist with my new ground and connect to C on the timer Thanks
Question: I there any way to fix a solinoid, taking it apart? I have old Lawn genie system and one white wire coming out of top of solinoid broke off right at the top. Not enough there to solder, even. Can a new wire be threaded through somehow or do I have to buy a solinoid that hopefully fits my old Lawn Genie? Thank you!
What multi core cable I use if I got 6 trigger ie 6 zone 6 independent solenoids . As in video u have a common and tiger cables common u link all tougher till u have 1 common cable but then i need 6 tigers wires ?
hi and thank you for sharing. I am new to dripping irrigation and trying to install controller Rain Bird ESP-Me controller. Could you please help to go through all steps, such as how to connect valve to controller and what should be connected to AC Power? Thank tiy
Hi. Which diameter cable size is recommended to connect the valves to the controller?. 0.5mm is enough?. Or can I use UTP cable where the diameter cable size is small?. Thanks
wire colors are wrong. Valve 1 is connected to red. Valve 2 is connected to green for trigger and black for common, however on the controller side you're using black for common, red for valve 1 and yellow for valve 2. In this configuration valve 2 is not going to work. It's probably best to write the color pattern on paper first.
Hi , I need a help, I want to power Bona valve , with 24 AC adapter,as you know adapters comes with different amperes(currents),so which kind of AC adapters, should I use?? with 5 amp ,10 amp etc
What about a master valve? I have two larger wires from a master valve, it's driving me nuts, that I have to bond one with the common, and a controller wire, and the other master valve wire is bound with another controller wire. There is nothing here about a master valve. I have one master valve and then three valves for three lines. I am having a problem where when I run the 1, 2, 3 lines from the controller, every time it just runs line 1
Hello Mike - Can you please help me - How do I connect this Valve with my Arduino Micro Controller? Where do I add the external 24V AC and which one will be used for triggering the control signal from my Ardunio Board ? I need the The Physical connection using a relay
Im trying to use my arduino UNO to send a +5V signal to a mosfet to drive a 24V solenoid. i know that i need a diode across the solenoid to protect it. What i don't know is how to pick the right mosfet. I know that i needs to be logic compatible. My power supply is 24VAC 750mA. the in rush current of the solenoid is 0.35A @ 24 VAC. The holding current is 0.23A @ 24VAC.
I am a novice and hope to see How to install a irrigation system from scratch. Please explain how each part works and what is necessary to work a system.Thank you
На видео худшие клапана ,все поставленные мной а это больше 100 из этой серии, протекать стали и перестают закрываться,, очень неудачная конструкция .И замена мембраны временное решение .
heh.. ya, the trigger wire for valve two was green in the beginning (around 2:10 mark) and became yellow (around 6:25 mark) at the end. Yes, I noticed that as well. Sadly, instead of all the positive things I was thinking about this video, I comment with a negative because that is the only thing I will remember about it!! aaaaaaaaaa

Thank You so very much Mike Briley from Access Irrigation!!
Thanks so much. This is one of the best instructional videos I've seen... No Frills. My Sprinkler has been out for a few weeks now and
was about to call for an "EXPERT". Wonder how much YOU saved me... Thanks!
This is by far the best how to video that I've ever seen! Thank you! Better than Orbital or Hunter how-to videos! Thank you.
Its the worst that I have seen.
Iam so glad I found this video, very clear instructions. Iam confident now that I can wire my system myself.
Thank you for creating work for the gents that get paid to fix these installations....
Very informative and enlightening! You've given me the confidence to attempt repairing one of the zones on my controller that keeps shorting out the system. Thanks so much for your excellent
video! Cheers!
Very well explained 😁😁 I enjoyed watching. I’m curious where can I buy those crimp connectors you used.
The Green wire magically changes to yellow.
Very helpful, detailed, informative and to the point.
Thanks. Glad it was of assistance.
Fantastic video, exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Well spoken and well presented. Thank you, it was a great help.
Your pliers are much cleaner than mine.
Tobin Bybee clean your more often
Great summary. Sent you a mail to hopefully supply the parts I need.

Hello,
Great job with the presentations!
You are very helpful!!!
I have a question…
Where can I find those little water proof connectors?
Thanks!
Thanks for the video, i will now try to repair my system. Sidenote: you used red and green as triggers, then to power you used red and yellow. Im surprised noone noticed it and made smartass comments
I've wanted to know how to do this for years! Thank you!
Thanks for the how to, as usual the included instructions with my controller made no sense to me, you made the job very easy, cheers!
With mains operated controllers, the output to the solenoid valves is 24v for safety.
Could have sworn he initially said "green was #2"
he did say green
David Fiore jajajajajajajajajaja he did say green brother! oh well we all make mistakes
2nd take, several hours later.. after a glass of wine
Agreed. I feel lied to.
@@angelluna8096 2:18 mins into the vid--green it is.
Perfectly explained.. Thank you very much.

He connected black red and green to the solenoids then connected black, red and yellow to the controller, wtf?
Haha I logged in just to say this... I was like wait, what? Yellow? I thought it was the green wire!
"Make sure tight" Yellow cable comes out... Haha.. It's all good just came here how to wire the irrigation system...
Well I guess you'll have a 1 line system for today. LoL
And yellow came off ☺️
Overall great presentation and lots of saving for homeowner now

I want to connect booster pump via a 24V contractor, any advise?
I like those manifold tees that you used for the valves. Can you tell me who makes them?

What if you have three valves? How would four cables fit in those 3 -input crimp connectors?

How do you fit four wires in there.. .I have four solenoids to connect
Do you have an answer for this? I have the same problem
This's exactly what I needed.
I think you should have put wires in slot under screw, but it was well explained,
What multi core cable I use if I got 6 trigger ie 6 zone 6 independent solenoids .

I have a valve you have to bleed manually to get the zone going now I haven’t used the timer yet but I doubt it will work any suggestions
Hello Mike, If I don't have AC Power how to using this system solenoid valve with controller
Very well done, thank you!
Where could I find those type of adapter connecter?
Emilio Nunez their shit, use 3m
good information . hello from SMS-TORK Control Valves from Turkey

Can we change the two red wires of the solenoid, since what I have is that it is cited off just from the body of the solenoid?
can you do the irrigation wriring on our systems ?
On the valve we're it showed off and on do I leave it on the off position or on the "on" position

can i convert DC latching solenoids to a regular ac powered controller /solenoid
no
Did anyone else notice he got the green and yellow wires mixed up?!
Very helpful.
How big Cable size?
You did not show how to connect the wires to the solenoid. My wires came of of the solenoid and need to be replaced.
Thanks for this usefull video!

I was just seeing this video n yeah so funny
Thank you :)
Nice, thank you.
👍👍

you are prince .......thank you
Thank you
Thank you soo much
Nice
Nearly $1900.00 and still no water to the backyard. Grass is nearly dead from trying to water by hand. Rain bird products suck.
John Glenn try orbit
No you suck lmao

Yellow or green?????🙄☝️
Thank you!
The whole metric and imperial situation needs to be addressed. I’m sick of all the conversions and what not all the time. Lol 😆
