Soap does NOTHING. Use Mineral spirits and steel wool which grips better and dissolves it. Also use a heat gun gently to remove the paper and excess glue.

Tfs this. I had thought about doing my bathroom with the contact paper but glad I saw this video. I love goo gone. I use to use it to remove scotch tape from my windows and doors in my classroom.

Nothing worked for me. I ended up using acetone, which also removed the finish from the countertops that the contact paper covered.
