That Akra made the bike sound terrific, really brings it to life. Well done
I hope Yamaha comes into the game. Regardless, I love the old gray import tiny gems from the 80s/90s.. but they just don't compare to this! 70+ HP out of a ( road legal) 400 CC.
Sexy beast.
So glad to see the potential of this machine being realised. Good journey!
This bike is all about the sound, very cool 😎 !
I love TST. You guys just keep pushing and pushing!!
🤣💣😂🤣😭💣
Great work guys. I'm excited to see the potential you guys can unleash from this awesome bike.
more is coming...but you know already ;)
So cool to see the curves and numbers!
Sounds fantastic 👌
Hell yeah keep it coming!
Esas revoluciones 😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥
Wow 70hp on wheel from 400cc 4cyl amazing job👏🏻👏🏻
more is coming
@@TSTindustries Turbo.
@@TSTindustries Asian country dis bike already 78hp without ecuflash
@@frxxxxx 78 hp To the crankshaft not to the wheel. This one makes 70 hp to the wheel not to the crankshaft.
im about too get the stage 1 from you guys for mine well see
cant wait for the actual performance comparison !
I'm looking forward to seeing the ZX6R 2024 get on the dyno because I've heard that it cuts the horsepower down to pass the emission standards.
Thank for the new video
Comprehensive video guys 👍 The Akra sounds beautiful all the way to the redline, also the point you made about the upshift rev drop always landing in the power band really will make it a serious weapon. Just need to get some idea on when this is available in the UK - does anyone know?
Best sounding 400cc👌
What a beautiful tune
4 a 400 that's a sick bike. Way to go kawasaki
Wow that bike sounds awesome dam man just not Kawasaki guy but hand down
awesome, thanks bart I can't wait to get the unrestricted tune on it.
Heck yea man. Can't wait to hear what you have to say after you experience the change.
Looks like you guys are going to have a lot of fun with the tuning project can't imagine how fun when you get it on the track awsome
You must have missed our latest video! 😉

That sound ❤❤❤❤
I saw where others are have as favorable or better tuning results with akra silencer and stock header. Will you guys explore that ?
That sound is bruuutallllllll!
that sound!!
Good stuff! :D
I’m drooling over here🤤
I’ll say, as a Florida boy on a 600RR next bike I want to bring to you. Next bike… Aprilia RSV4 factory. Want that Bart magic!
Great video! Did you ever make that video on slip on Vs full system + tune for a 600cc?
No, we concluded the 600rr project after this video. Bryan's bike and specs shown in this video are pretty representative of what is attainable.
Are you developing a full exhaust system that’s is tailored to the zx-4rr? If so when do you think it may be ready for testing and when will it be offers for sale. Nice work fellas! Thanks
We have Graves full exhaust sets on their way in riht now. Yoshimura may come to the table at some point and get us some 4RR specific ones. We will not be pursuing the manufacture of these exhausts ourselves. We do have a customized header being built with four bungs, one on each primary. We will use this header to make our tunes ultra refined and tuned per cylinder. We will have those available in a couple weeks.
It’s the bike a newbie can easily grow into, an ECU with intake and exhaust 😅 completely new beast 😅😂❤
Not just newbies. I'm a 636 rider and have had an eyeball on the 4RR since it was first rumored. There are plenty of aging riders as well that look at this thing as if it's the ultimate little hooligan toy. The possibilities of this platform are amazing; it's a shame that it's neutered out of the box, but that's governments for you.
@@FuzedBox I have one ZX4RR on the way =] I also want the 636 but I have to allow my skills to mature. I also agree that it’s sad they neutered the bike. F’n emissions…. That’s a damn lie and we know it. However it’s an ECU flash away plus other goodies.
@@Jenuin I wouldn't call it a lie. Government emissions/noise standards really are that bad, yet no one gets a chance to fight these unjust laws. Make no mistake; this was more of a noise issue than emissions one in this case.
You're totally right as to the corrective measure needed, but it's sad that they are.
@@FuzedBox they're that bad but they wont build railroad systems like europe to save on emissions. but rather make every car electric which isn't that good for the environment either.. while also exploiting africa for their resources like everything else. but we cant get unlocked bikes... smh
This is not for beginners lol
Akra has the 250rr exhaust but no 400rr offering yet. I do know another tuner got about 72hp out of it by losing restrictions and using an Akra exhaust. Specifically a header from their 250rr offering and a slip on. I could’ve swore I’ve heard of the 250rr hitting 100hp somewhere so I’d believe if a 400rr specific exhaust, maybe a specific dna air filter and this 400rr could hit 3 digits as well. I really do want it to since it is so light with a short wheel base. Super fun on the track and flickable…hoping for a black mode to come out in 2024, i love kawasaki, but, krt green ain’t for me. Make it in all black and drop the price $1k and I’ll grab it.
I wonder what numbers the Yoshimura Hepta Force TSS from the ZX25R would do on the ZX4RR..only bc I love the way the hepta force looks on the ZX25R
My dream bike
Those are great gains. Especially, since thats not the exhaust thats meant for it. When a full zx4rr exhaust comes out, should gain a even more ponies.
I agree but the additional gains will not be in the same scale. I predict a curve shift before the peak, and peak maybe +.5hp, peak tq +1
@@TSTindustries u guys are the experts and time will tell. Great vid and love ur products.
hi mr, is that the quickshift original from kawasaki? or already change it?
So glad you guys picked one up! Next dream bike after I sell my arm upgrading the R3. 😅
We had it on the track one time so far. It should be called ZX4:):) . I have not had that kind of a smile coming off the track in a long time.
@@TSTindustries *ZX4:):)* Haaaa. LOVE IT!!!
@@TSTindustries would you guys prefer this or the zx6r? I’m also looking to upgrade from my 2021 R3 and want something i can ride for a few years without being bored of. I love the ZX4RR but for a thousand dollars for you can get the zx6.
MUSIC 🎶🎶

My goodness what a crazy bike lol
Blows my mind how strong chains are. Can't imagine a chain breaking at 14,000rpm.
It has happened to us. Goodbye engine case ....hopefully not the rider
Did you try 13 tooth sprocket if want more torque?
why is it soooo gooooooood
Fucking hell, it sounds so good.
It sounds Fantastic. I was going to get a Ninja 400 for my First Bike but i think i want this instead
I would suggest taking both for a test ride and understanding what you’re getting into. This bike does carry a heftier price tag but the features are worth it to some, including us. But the Ninja 400 is a fantastic platform that may be seeing a revamp soon. Such a fantastic platform that we have two!
Essa moto é top a hora que sair a nekd então vai vender igual água.
what's the difference and why some dynos shows the power at engine and others at the wheel??
After remaping my honda varadero 125 15 hp i gained 3 hp now 18 hp cost me 250 pound i have full scorpion system on board and upgraded air filter so bike running 19 hp over all but if I want power I got a 500 cc
I want one of those...
53 hp is the maximum allowed for a JDM 400cc bike sold in Japan. They have tiered licencing 50/250/400cc and unlimited. Stepping up to an Unlimited(Ogata) licence in Japan cost real money. Most people there top out at 400CCs
todo ese poder termina recayendo en esa cadena de trasmisión
Hasn't been out for that long and it's already full send 😂👌
We have been waiting for a machine like this to come out. Now that it is here our entire team got psyched to get things done, and we are bringing it to the market now. Many more pieces of tech in the WorX so stay tuned.
@TSTindustries I love that only the people that build bikes and track them can see how awesome this bike is. Everyone else is all, it's just a 400 for 10k.
Hello! what a great advantage these types of configurations offer! but I would like to know, what are the disadvantages? Maybe premature engine wear or deterioration? And why do manufacturers limit the engine? Is it to prevent long-term issues like high maintenance and lifespan?
alot of aspects comes into it a part of it is what you noted another part is they cant unlock full potential to not lose sales in higher flagship bikes as their ninja/z 600 which might be useless since the zx4rr tuned would be same hp and 10k cheaper, another might be for emissions and many more but in general for manufactures the more maintanace the vehicle need the more money they make in parts and so on.
overall its okay to tune ur engine as long as the tune is from reputable source and match the engine stock components threshold otherwise engine will blow.
motorzinho bravo ahahaha tem a mesma potencia de motor q a xj 600 na roda e um torque muito constante,o q ajuda na saida e retomadas
So after tune ? It will goes for more top speed, cuz stock bike goes to 237+_ kmh .. i would love to see vid for top speed after tune ..!
What are some good tuning options for my 21 Ninja 400. Also from what you have seen is it safe for me to run a header without a tune?
We offer several versions of Ninja 400 flash tuning for different configurations. You can find that on our website TSTindustries.com . I will not comment to the safety of running an aftermarket header without a tune. There are no standards to go by so I cannot make one statement that would encompass all the scenarios that can be seen by replacing OE header.
The sound like ZX6R tho 🔥
Similar but with a different tone. The bores are 4/5 the size so they produce a slightly different sound.
I didn't realize the Akra was built for the 25. Think there's more there for a ZX4-specific exhaust?
I do believe there is more. The 25 breathes differently with different volumes of exhaust needing to be moved out, and the acoustics are different as well. The acoustics of chamber and exhaust system play a big role in volumetric efficiency of a motor. Our 400 spec header is currently being built so in about a week we should be getting back to the dyno for another session and to get dialed in to a proper exhaust setup, tune each cylinder separately, and get super precise.
Torque seems to have not changed?
Kafam bozulduğunda açıyorum şu makınanın sesini dinliyorum moralim düzeliyor
Am I missing something here? He "kicks" down to shift up? I know this bike has a quick shifter, but isn't that just so you can shift the gear without using the clutch? Was there another mod here to reverse the shifting direction?
Yes, we enabled what is known as "GP shift". On this particular bike it was done by flipping the linkage on the shift shaft and enabling it in the ECU. On some bikes, you can simply flip the linkage. This is extremely popular amongst racers and track riders for more efficient shifting.
Dam and double dam. Zx4rr seems like a gem, the bike yamaha should have built. Pretty impressive
Looks like with enough tuning, stacks & air filter you can possibly push it above Kawa's peak HP stats...
I believe that the video already showed that we pushed it beyond Kawasaki spec since the first set of runs results presented in this video was much lower than our Stage 1 tune data presented.
Hood does the transmission work. He’s kicking down to go up and no clutch ?? Did they change things out on the bike.
The shifter linkage was removed from the gear change shaft, the lever flipped 180, then reassembled. Then we reflashed the ecu to use the quick shift sensor backwards.
Is there a video how you guys changed the shifter to gp shift?
Not right now but if the demand calls for it, we can maybe film a short How To. It’s important to note that you will also have to enable GP shift in your ECU which can be done with our flash that’s available on our website.
One of the best commerce oriented videos I've seen. Few questions:
1. Is this power to the wheel?
2. These power curves start dropping steeply before 15k RPM, and they only go up to like 15100 RPM. Is it so because you had let-off after 14k? Or, is this a bit of a 2006 R6 case where the actual RPM is lower than indicated on the dash?
3. I see your tune raised the redline. Do you think such a change would be safe, and / or wouldn't compromise long-term reliability, with stock engine? Of course, this does depend on how much extra RPM is introduced - so what's the redline now? I imagine this does not contribute to a power increase in any way, since the power drops off much sooner, at least on this tune.
How doable it would be to make the power drop later and get the extra gain from the shifted redline?
It's a good news to me (as I'm sure to many riders) that you guys will be concentrating on tuning this bike a lot. I think I will be looking to order some of your stuff here to Lithuania, after I get this bike.
Dyno's always measure power at the wheel
So longevity of the engine changing nearly 45% gains?
Why is it restricted? We dont normally have starter classes for motorcycles in this country. Just unrestricted stock would make this a lot more fun! My first 600 only had 65hp and plenty of fun on the road.
The restrictions come more from an emissions stance, not a power/performance stance.
Hey guys, on the Kawasaki website it says max power 77hp at 14,5k rpm. Why are his measurements so much lower, even with tuning?
Tuning and horsepower numbers can change vastly depending on many factors such as elevation, temperature, humidity, gas used, and even the dyno it's being read on. I also believe they measure at the crank, not the wheel - which is very different.
Where can I get this akro exhaust? I can't even find one for the 25r? Where did u get your exhaust from, please?
Street Customs in Clearwater Florida. Pete can get you set up with one. He has several choices of exhaust for this bike in stock.
Is that a full exhaust or just a slip on? Whatever it is could you reply with the link?
It is a full exhaust. We don't actually sell that one in our store. We have Graves and are waiting for Yoshimura to supply us at some point. If you want the Akrapovic please contact Pete at Street Customs in Clearwater, FL. He has these in stock.
does the full system exaust for zx25r just bolt on to the zx4rr with no mods?
I was wondering the same thing
Are y’all planning on offering free updates for customers who already purchased the stage 1 tune?
We have not discussed that yet. Possibly. It doesn't cost us anything extra except for some time so at some point we will probably figure out a support program for the flash service.
@@TSTindustries I’ll be following along as you guys refine your tunes. Cant wait to reinstall my ECU! You guys were quick to get it out of the shop.
How can i get that tune and exhaust here in Columbia TN? im coming from a R6 non tuned with 108hp.
You can send your ECU in and we will return it with the updated programming.
@@TSTindustries thanks
Pena quê não tá no Brasil ainda pai
Why was you only use the clutch in 1 st gear? Cool.
Because this bike is equipped with a quick shifter and auto-blipper.
@@TSTindustries ah right I see. Cool bike..
I've had several bikes and one question i've got.
How are you shifting down to go up the gears.?
I've never seen that pattern.
Every bike i've had is always been 1 down 5 up.
Please explain?
Is this something new with kawasaki?
This is what’s commonly referred to as GP shift, or reverse shift. It’s optimal for track riding. It can be done on virtually any bike although some might require different hardware (rearsets or shift linkages) or a software setting.
@TSTindustries Oh okay so it's not factory stock.
Okay I was just curious because i've never seen that pattern before.😊
are you using gp shift on the zx4r
Yes.
Do you guys offer dyno tuning to customers?
We offer a flash tune service but not custom tuning for each bike. We reserve our dyno use for our R&D efforts and for the race teams we sponsor.
Are these whp ? How much do you assume the engine outputs with tune and exhaust then ?
See the wheel rolling on the drum? The measurement is taken using encoder on the drum. The wheel is the part of the bike that is spinning the sensing parts so the reading is whp. This is how a chassis dynamometer works. Alternatively, an engine dynamometer takes the reading at the crankshaft of the engine so all the driveline and tire frictional/inertial losses are removed from the equation, resulting in a higher reading than at the rear wheel. There is no reliable way to assume or convert wheel horsepower to engine horsepower or vice versa. To know the answer to your question we would have to build a rig that holds the engine with the crankshaft coaxial to the dyno drum, and then build a linkage that mechanically joins them. Or just lease dyno time at a research facility. That's a lot of time and money consuming action that results in a value that is not useful to us.
@@TSTindustries thank you very much for the answer ! My underlying question is that in Europe, kawasaki advertises the zx4rr for around 80hp, so I find that 55whp out of the box is à bit underwhelming. If with à tune we get around 76whp, I assume it makes it much faster and around the 100hp mark at the crank ?
I'm undecided between zx4 and zx6, both are coming to Europe and I'm unsure of whether they'll have the same throttle restrictions or not
It’s a sexy bike but why all the performance mods…. 😊
just needs some more torque and this thing would be perfect
Can’t have your cake and eat it too. Small displacement, multi cylinder high revs is what everyone asked for. That engine design literally means no torque. This bike is all revs.
Are their tunes available to available for this bike to download and use in the UK from TST Industries? 🇬🇧
The UK and euro version won't be restricted like the US model and will run 76hp or up to 80hp with ram air effect stock
@@davidcurran1607 I know that but was wondering if the stock map could be further refined once looking at full exhaust systems etc
The unnrestricted tune we sell somewhat resembles the stock EU mapping, but street mapping is always restricted a bit to keep the rider and machine safe. Ours unlocks more in more areas. As soon as you change your intake and/or exhaust your bike will benefit from a tune because the volumetric efficiency of the motor will change with those modifications. At that a proper tune will keep your bike safe and give you more performance from the power plant. Unfortunately flash service is not something we offer remotely. I think our guy Chris at Cregtech in the UK may be able to help you get sorted. He doesn't have access to our flash but he may have some alternative for you locally.
@@TSTindustries Thank you for the information, really appreciate the useful assistance and prompt response ✅
3:41 how come u step on the shift lever to upshift on this bike ??
thought u always had to lift it up to upshift and stomp it down to downshift ???

gear selection order changed to racing type, is it possible via dashboard?
When you say "racing type" what do you mean by that? If you're referring to GP shift, that needs to be done in the ECU and a physical change to the rearset/shift rod.

You're referring to GP shift, that needs to be done in the ECU and a physical change to the rearset/shift rod.
@@user-ku4rs8gv5z
Wait, the gear pattern is all down instead of 1 down and 5 up?
That is configurable by flipping linkage on shift shaft and reprogramming sensor in the ecu. This is commonly called gp shift. From the factory the bike comes with standard shift pattern.
Is it possible to get 80whp with just bolt-ons?
We will try to see whats possible.
Vitesse max ?
I want the Ninja 400 with the 4 Cylinder and don’t care about the tune Which one would that be ?
I dont understand your comment
The bike had racing shift pattern? Is this a mod?
Yes, the linkage has to be flipped around, and the ECU needs to be flashed to accept the reversed trigger from the shift sensor.
Can be tune to 90hp. or not?
This bike is not capable of 90hp with just tuning. That amount of power will take a serious motor build, some high end bolt-ons, race gas, and tuning.
