      Yeah same here or Hershel. Although Rick does tell Hershel eventually. "We saw brain scans from an actual expert in the field. He decided this was our extinction event and committed suicide because the best we can hope for now is a painless death without turning. You're not a doctor, he was and this was his specialty. Give up" Never understood why that wasn't mentioned.

    That's a damn shame that kirkman doesn't wanna let them talk about the CDC episode anymore because I actually really loved that episode. It was one of those rare episodes that made you think "what would I'd do if this was me?" And now the show kinda makes you think "ok, wtf is this actual shit that's happening?". @Rj Diggs, I enjoyed this episode too but the show itself isn't about zombies or walkers. Kirkman says in the intro of the first comic that the series is really about how characters progress in extreme environments. The apocalypse is just the vehicle through which this change occurs but it's not the focus of the show. The series is also meant to be a social commentary and to get us thinking about how reliant we are on each other and the government.
      That being said, whenever I watch this show and see flashbacks or re-watch this episode, I can't help but wonder what happened too, lol. It fascinates me and i hope one day, after Kirkman finishes his series, that a spinoff will be created that follows the lives of scientists across the globe as they attempt to find the cure. That would be amazing!

    That's one of my biggest gripes regarding the walking dead. Once something happens, it seems like thats the end of it. The writers seem to love to act like the past never happened, and i get it to some extent but it really takes away the emotion and dimension in the characters. They don't talk or bring up anything that happened in the past. It would be great to see them mentioning to other people stuff that had happened, or telling newer characters things about deceased characters.

After that, she never mention to anyone about Heath's disappearance. Like it never happened. After that episode, that always been bugging me that never brought up what happened to Heath to anybody. It was Frank Darabont's idea to add the CDC arc to the show, he was a strong voice & main force behind getting the comic made into the TV show. Once Darabont left (he was fired as season 2 began) any shred of what the disease was all about went out the window.

    Also, you mentioned how they never mentioned the CDC again but remember rick telling Hershel "we were at the CDC, it's gone, there is no cure" or something like that and Hershel said "I don't believe it" - maybe they didn't tell him about the human part of the walkers because he assumed Hershel wouldn't believe it nor care.
    I was shocked though when I realised they didn't tell Eugene, Abe and Rosita about the CDC, but then again maybe they didn't want them to lose hope and thought that maybe Eugene genuinely did have a cure - they still should have mentioned it though.

      Patrick W. That makes absolutely no sense and is not logical at all. That's like saying all cops know each other or all Drs know each other. Theyre not from the same area. If Eugene were legit he was part of a "secret team" with the human genome project, you know "fighting fire with fire" It's likely he may have known a few Drs at the CDC but not all of them and it's definitely not logical he would know all of them.

But imagine actually being in a situation where dying is more probable than living. If your family begged you to join them I doubt you'd say no. But I could be wrong, you could be one of those people that will do their duty until the very end. ☺ Not trying to be a jerk, it's just been my experience that people say one thing and do another when crisis strikes. • @Ms.Byrd68
    @Ms.Byrd68 7 ปีที่แล้ว +80

    I think we have to remember they didn't anticipate this show going past the first six episodes and they wrote it that way. Your right they act like the CDC didn't happen but they also act like Walkers can't turn door knobs (Tyresse's death) when we saw Morgan's wife "seem to remember both living at that house and knowing that turning the knob would open the door". They didn't think the show would still be on this long. They are been 'back-peddling' ever since....
    In real life there would have been Nuclear Reactor meltdowns, but you won't see that in the show, gas would have gone bad by now... a lot of things aren't actually realistic. More people would probably still be living including what's left of the Active Duty Military (along w/National Guard); a lot of things would actually be different but this is a TV show based in a comic so we pretend that none of that is possible, so that we can enjoy this show. We discuss and debate those things, but at it's heart we know THIS IS JUST ENTERTAINMENT.

    • @Ms.Byrd68
      @Ms.Byrd68 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually I work with guys who work with gas who would disagree with you, but I'm no expert so I won't agrue that point with you.
      On the Director thing, your right that is a 'variable' as to why the show is different but the point is they're treating the VIEWER as though we didn't watch the first season by 'pretending' Walkers are not really capable of doing these things anymore, it was important for Tyresse in that moment to 'know' or to 'remember' that they could do that because he would have conducted himself differently (were it real and the writers didn't want to kill off his character, lol). I'm gonna say he didn't know so then the question becomes 'Why'? Why aren't group members sharing what they know (or as they learn or notice)... Shane did and he was SHANE. "Man they don't tire....!"

    • @Ms.Byrd68
      @Ms.Byrd68 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a 'nuke' expert but the ratios of area destroyed would prevent the military from just nuking everyone everywhere and in 2010 when this show is set there were 350 million people in the US alone. There are approximately 4 million people in Houston, TX and it is the 4th largest city in the country... there would be more people alive especially in the beginning when the CDC was still open back in season 1 which is the time frame the video maker is discussing but if you believe the whole country would just be nuked.... that's your right, have at it.

    • @Ratkill9000
      @Ratkill9000 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Majority of gasoline has ethanol in it. Non ethanol fuel has a shelf life of about a month to 3 months, without additives and is contained. Specialty stuff like Husqavarna mixed fuel in a quart size can, if left sealed, can last a couple years. Out side of that, majority of fuel in the show would be damn near a varnish and would not work well in a vehicle, fuel injected or carburetor. Any left in the fuel system would tarnish and gum up the fuel lines, pump, filters and injectors/fuel jets. They would require a full tear down and possible rebuild just to run.
      Batteries in vehicles may still be fine for a few months, long as there isn't too much of a parasitic draw in the electrical system. Where the show is now, no vehicles would be working as fuel would be too poor of quality to use. Main exception would be propane, but very few vehicles are dual fueled and none are shown.

    • @electrohead8225
      @electrohead8225 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      More likely that MOAB's would be used instead of nukes, as they create a massive blast that does not leave a radioactive fallout, nukes would leave the country uninhabitable for the surviving few. Nuking would be reserved for rendering an invading nation with no homeland to produce any form of industry and agriculture from, thus crippling any future military operation. it would be largely pointless to irradiate the country completely if the human race is endangered as you would want to give any survivors the best possible chance of repopulating and rebuilding.

    This has to be Cannon as it relates to the show. For one scene if nothing else. The scene where Jenner whispers into Rick’s ear. Rick referred to when speaking to the group after that. And what he told Rick is the lynchpin of the pathogen that causes the dead to rise. He told him the truth. And if you watched The Walking Dead from the beginning. That scene between Rick and Jenner is one of the most iconic scenes in the entire series.

    I think what made this episode so great is, besides a nice look into the wildfire virus and a hint of info to the rest of the world, is Noah Emmerich’s performance. You can truly believe he’s a man wracked by grief, despair, and guilt. You truly believe he had to watch someone he loved die and then had to essentially kill them again. You truly believe he feels guilt that he couldn’t figure it all out and save humanity.
    And when you learn ts-19 was his wife, it makes his line of “an extraordinary one” hit even harder.

    The WILDFIRE protocol is an homage to Micheal Chriton's "The Andromeda Strain". Wildfire was the installation and project name located in the Desert Southwest. The activation code for the installation going into action was the staff being informed by military communication. In the film the Commander of Wildfire is informed by phone. He is told only, "There's a fire sir." He immediately leaves for transport to the facility. "Fire" in this instance means there is an outbreak of some pathogen that needs to be contained. So Wildfire is used here as the protocol, the action rather than the name of the facility itself.

    I recently watched s1 for the first time ( after watching all of twd ftwd and world beyond ) and that season was amazing. The walkers were truely menacing and characters fleshed out

    Honestly, I like this part if the military was involved in a Season 10 or something it wouldn’t make sense after the governor the walking dead is all a civilian and outlaw but I think it would make sense to make an Episode or two at the beginning when everything wasn’t at bad show some of the military getting overrun and stuff

    I love the show the way it is going right now but I absolutely HATE how Kirkman treats the CDC arc. It removed the hope of a cure that they may have had at first but doesn't completely eliminate the possibility of a future cure/immunization to fight it.

      The music track is called Tomorrow, a track from Digital Juice. I bought a bunch of their Motion Graphics and audio tracks to use in productions several years ago. AS you can read in these comments, some people thought it was very distracting. My most recent videos have no BG music at all. ....... You are welcomed - Thanks for watching!

    what did Edward Jenner wisper to Rick in his ear before he died??

    • @TWDExplained
      @TWDExplained  7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      He said - Everyone is infected.
      Before this the group had not found out that Death is what activates the reanimation, not a bite from a walker. A bite will kill a person, death then activates and causes reanimation. - Thanks for watching!

      I wonder though if he actually did whisper something different when Darabont was showrunner and then just ended up changing it after his departure.

    Wildfire was an Easter egg reference to Michael Crichton's The Andromeda Strain.

    TheWalkingDeadExsplaind. Its funny that they call it WildFire.
    That is what they call a unstoppable green fire in Game of Thrones.. I wonder why

    • @TWDExplained
      @TWDExplained  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the term "spreads like wild fire" is common throughout the world. If you have seen footage or news on forest fires out of control they can move fast and are uncontrollable sometimes. So calling the green fire in GoT Wildfire is a very fitting term. Also, it fits the way the "virus" spread in TWD. It spread like wildfire. I think GoT used it because it fit and it's a cool sounding term as well. - Thanks for watching!

      TheWalking DeadExplained. True but they called the Program that is set to Blow up the building.. Wildfire.. Thats a Fire they won't be able to put out..

    • @TWDExplained
      @TWDExplained  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually I think Wildfire was just the initiative protocols the CDC was going by trying to stop and cure the outbreak. The reason the CDC exploded was that it was losing power due to generators running out of fuel. So I guess that fail safe was already in place before the Wildfire protocols took effect at the time of the outbreak. This was the show's reason the building exploded, saying it was a way for the bad stuff not to get out.

      Amber Tilton They aren't linking this to Game of Thrones. Wildfire is a common word for a strong explosion/fire.

      High Marshal Helbrecht. Yea i know T.W.D and GoT are not linked together... I was just saying that it was funny that in both cases it was used in a Exstreem way

      Hershel and the farm family wouldn’t have believed it anyway. I live in a rural area, and you can’t make those types of people believe in anything scientific!
