Wonderful Mike - bless you for looking in on your mom! My mother lingered for 8 months in hospice and I was allowed to use the back door and bring my boxer to visit and was also allowed to put him on the bed with her. It truly lifted her spirits! Pal is an exceptional boy! ❤
I love how the dog could sense his emotion in the car and he puts his paw on his arm to say everything is okay. The difference with his Mom was uncanny.

It's amazing that you do what you do for mom as well as sharing for all of us. Dementia doesn't receive the amount of support it needs to educate and prepare. People always chalk it up to 'getting old' but it's so much worse. Having you and Pal educate and bring attention to it is helpful and encouraging.
Wow what a difference, I mean I should know, a close relative had dementia, and we had a dog too that he loved…but it’s still amazing and never gets old seeing the difference! Good job with all the kisses Pal! ♥️♥️
This was so incredible to watch and almost unbelievable with the change in your mom's cognitive speech as well as behaviour once Pal came in the room. Your mom looked so much happier. Pal is a beautiful GSD in every which way, and you are the best dad and son!
its so sad for them and us but mostly for them.. i got myself a Pal on last Saturday .. infact he was a rescue from a backyard breeder. he was so afraid but with the love and support from my other dog agent Pickle he has come out of his shell.. he is 3 months old and weve called him George .. he will be going to visit my daughter at her frail care this weekend.. My daughter has Huntingtons and she is now 30.. Gods grace she made it this far..
That was God's plan when he made a dog. I had a therapy dog for several yrs and the good they do with people is absolutely amazing. Mentally and physically. I watched blood pressures go down with petting, one lady started to sing and she had never done that before. Their spirits would lift and they would be laughing. Mini miracles. Bless you for going to see your Mom and bless you for taking Pal.
I’m so happy your mom has Pal to give her some clarity. I saw the same thing with my dear father with my first GSD Apollo. They truly looked out for each other. PAL is a wonderful boy. You are doing the absolute correct thing by going along with your mum , I worked with dementia patients for years and so many loved ones try to correct what they say and it only causes stress & upset . I also learned that babies have the same affect on them as Pal , wonderful & thanks for sharing .
I took care of my mom with Alzheimer's for 9 years....we got her a dog...this is SO TRUE....she was completely "normal" when he was around!! They are truly a blessing!

I completely understand where you are coming from Mike, my mom also has dementia. Her dog passed away 4 months ago and we notice the absence. We used to bring Tessa to visit mom in long-term care, and as soon as the dog came in the room, mom would calm down.

I believe it because my mum also has Alzheimers and what a difference when my brother brings his dog over to visit. She is so responsive with Bear. Best therapy they can ever have. ❤
I love your videos of your beautiful dog, my dad passed from Alzheimer's as well. I would always bring him in my truck we're sitting in the front seat and my dog Corky would sit in the back seat. I would do my jobs that only required a couple minutes and my dad would be giggling with happiness because my dog was licking him on his face. I just lost my cat who passed away from 15 years of love and joy and animals are the best in the world
I’m 65 and one thing I’ve found in this life is that dogs are truly a gift from god to us. I am retired law enforcement with PTSD and my German Shepherds are everything to me.
That’s amazing. I am a registered nurse I worked with Alzheimer & Dementia patients for 6 years and I’ve never seen that happen. Pal found her soul and brought it back to her body. My great grandmother would say Alzheimer’s was when the would has left the body. That was amazing. You have a gift with these dogs
That's just how it was for my mom at her nursing home 25 years ago. They had special days in the Spring when the staff brought their dogs in to meet the residents out in the garden that was shaded with big lovely oak trees. My mom instantly lit up and engaged in conversation that actually made sense which made those days some of the most memorable ones I have of her time there. So glad you were able to have a similar experience with your mom a quarter of a century later.
Wow. When my mother was dying and her blood pressure would sky rocket, we learned to let my dog in with her. She would rub her coat, smile and rest peacefully.
Wow!! I had a dream earlier today...a man of God came to visit me to help do some work on my house but when I went to the door the first thing I was greeted with was about 20-30 dogs at my back door just standing and looking at me. Dogs represent protection, security, and unconditional love in your dreams. I lost my best friend, Sissy, in Sept to a suspected brain tumor and have been alone with my kitty kat since. I miss her so bad it still hurts 😢
