Keys aren’t just a concept for musicians, another key means you alter the frequency of every note you play in Hz, so you can tell the difference. Same reason you can perceive a low/high voice even though you can’t tell what notes they make

many band's songs, when tuned down just sound weird. When you tune down a Muse song it just gets even better
