I've done a video on the music of another Project Moon game, Lobotomy Corporation! Have you seen it? It's over here: th-cam.com/video/CZWl1P-v3qA/w-d-xo.html
This song is interesting as its the theme for 10 people who make up the big enemy of the game, each one of them representing their own instrument. Philip - Cello Eileen - Harp Greta - Percussion Bremen - French Horn, Tuba and Trombone Oswald - Clarinet Tanya - Viola Jae-Heon - Second Violin Elena - First Violin Pluto - Pipe Organ Argalia - Conductor The song is split into 4 parts with Philip Eileen Greta and Bremen belonging to Asiyah the first part. Oswald, Tanya, and Jae-Heon belonging to Briah. Elena and Pluto belonging to Atziluth. With Argalia combining them all in the song as the is the Conductor of it.
Adding to this, Reverberation Ensamble was sopposed to have 10 parts with extra emphasis on each character's instrument.... but because of time constraints Studio EIM had to make the into just 4 with general groupings of instruments The one and only time I cursed update fridays was when I first learned about that... Imagine a whole section of Oswald's clown to clown comunication, but in clarinet
@NMC213 interesting, I never knew it was originally supposed to have 10 different parts, while sad we didn't get to see 6 other songs, the ones they did get were great, thanks for the info btw
When they first made the philips fight, the fight only had malkuth 1,2 and 3. But when philips turned into the flame wing phase, asiyah music kicked in
The "finger snap" is the in-game sound to indicate the start of the player's turn. It's not originally in the soundtrack but is added in post to mask the music change between phases as some of the combat themes don't transition into another as smoothly as some other themes. You can actually find some uploads without the finger snap. Also, since most of the soundtrack is meant to be looped, they end abruptly. Much to the dismay of many a music reactor.
@@the-nevermind Only thing illegal about it is Angela, according to The Head at least (disagreeing with this will make a Claw appear outside your house and teleport you to brazil)
This track is one of the more interesting one's in Library of Ruina as unlike most other boss themes this one is actually a boss RUSH theme, progressively getting more intense as you fight through the entire ensemble. My favorite aspect of this track is how through each phase a different instrument is played and given centerpoint of the piece, each one representing different members of the ensemble. But during the last phase when you're fighting the conducter of the ensemble every instrument is playing in harmony with one another showing exactly how he united them all together. Individually they are powerful but together they truly are a star of the city.
This game is hard to describe in plot, vecause several plots converge in the shape of their "themes". This is desires, dreams, breaking free. This is emotions given physical form, music bending stale, broken hearts. Cello. The child weeping for others to acknowledge his sadness Harp. The leader devoted to complacency, finding happiness in having purpose bestowed on her from top down. Percussion. The ambition finding goal in devour and gluttony. Tuba, trombone, horn. The unity in chaos, expression of primal cry, purest of fear made into song. Clarinet. A madness, nostalgic sound capturing the attention for performance to join hearts. Viola. The survivor, her claws and teeth hardened by countless foes. Standing alone to challenge the stage. Violins, a and b. One which lost everything and builds his happiness through puppetplays. One which craves a craving, an ambition to call her own - for lifeblood to flow in veins and wake the cold flesh. Pipe organ. The betrayed watching the machinations of city, unfairness birth tragedies to behold. The conductor. One lonely in feelings that could not be put in words, wishing to express the sorrow that binds us. Relishing in witnessing his orchestra shake the foundations of world, one which desires all to unite in lament, beauty that reverbrates in stale, colourless hearts. And when the Greatest Performance ends There's only Black Silence.
If you're wondering about context for why there's such heavy instrument shifts at points, it's because these songs plays in "floors" let's just say, and it represents the enemies you're fighting. 4 of them are the first part 3 of them are the second part 2 are the third part and the 4th part is the finale. One character in the story also names every single enemy after an instrument, and these instruments play in the floors you fight them at, until the finale reaches the peak.
Your guess at it being music for a boss fight was almost correct. It’s actually music for 10 boss fights that you have to do back to back at the end of the game. For game mechanics it’s a turn based card game mixed with an auto-battler, and the cards roll dice. For the lore of this music specifically (keeping it as brief as possible), you’re defending the library against a group of people called the Reverberation Ensemble. The first “phase” of these tracks plays for the fights in the lower floors, the second phase for the middle floors, and the third phase for the upper floors. The upper floors are for philosophy and religion, hence the organs. The 4th phase is for a 1v1 with the main character’s brother-in-law. It’s pretty wacky.
And as an Extra this is during the final chapter of the game, after the game gives you the prompt of Point of no return, and you get these 10 Fights back to back with no rest... and the climax is just starting..
@@finikksuhonestly, if you kinda shrugged off the message like I did and didn't prep, then you either start over and plan better, or be like me and brute force it because you don't want to redo 2-4 hours.

Love you shedding some light and acknowledgement on PM games. You practically guessed right by the way about it being boss phases, and a couple of people also went into detail what this track is. Don't be scared to take wild guesses, we love to see them, and even if it will humble you in the end, it's just so fascinating to see people making insane guesses about what it would be and then seeing them even more baffled when they actually see what it was about. Despite what the instruments mean story wise, it's also VERY interesting to see what there may be was behind the choices of instruments, specifically how it goes from just hype to some intricacy to serenity and than it comes full circle to write a final note to this performance. Story to serve the instruments and instruments to serve the story. Very fitting (Loop is where the snap, 3 snaps for 4 phases)
Yesss, more PM visibility! Always down for it. And you're right, it is a boss battle spread across 10 different battles, with each foe represented by an instrument. They're combined in groups of 4, 3, 2 and 1, starting out with the beginning and adding in more and more as the battles progress past their respective groups, finally reaching the crescendo during the final battle. Honestly your summary of each stage was pretty spot on, it is a hopeful theme that highlights the hardships and suffering that some of the foes have faced whilst reminding you as the player that you've got this. I could gush about the crescendo during the final stage for literal years, mixing all of their pain and agony into one and making it sound amazing. There's plenty of amazing themes to find from the Project Moon games, the Mili songs are obvious in and of themselves, Angela/Roland themes are top contenders as well. Lobotomy Corporation's You Are a Giant is short but sweet and Limbus Company has... honestly a lot to dissect when it comes to its themes.

The craziest part is that you are right in that this is a boss fight theme... except, it's actually a boss rush, and not just a usual boss rush, it's a boss rush that signals the start of the endgame gauntlet. 10 back to back fights is encompassed by this song for fighting each ensemble members and their conductor, yet after that the game relentlessly throws you 3 more huge fights each with 3-5 different phases. Who knew just going abt managing books was gonna get so hectic? Well ig if your library turns people into books it really is a different story.
