Essentially, Sticky Keys is a feature so that if someone has a mobility limitation or disability that prevents them from physically holding down one key and pressing another one, that the Shift, Ctrl, & Alt keys can be easily toggled to maintain a toggle input. (This is also why it activates with a single repeated keypress of just the Shift key, rather than how most shortcuts requires a key combination)
@@PierceArner if i remember correctly, my recent factory reset of my pc asked if I wanted it on, so I font mind it amymore know that its an option rather than the default.
@@PierceArner That's what it's for? That's so stupid. @@D_YellowMadness …they're on like that by default _because that ensures that someone with that disability can activate them as needed._ Everyone else can easily just turn them off if they don't need them as a minor interruption, vs. a major disruption of being unable to use or toggle a feature when needed as core functionality. Additionally, Subtitles & Closed Captions are two different things and they address different accommodations in information conveyance. Some companies are lazy and only create a single Closed Caption track mislabeled as Subtitles - but if there's only a single option, the one making sure that deaf people can still enjoy a show is more important than your mild irritation over seeing "dramatic music" or other contextual audio information in the Captions. It was so annoying whenever you hear that bullshit sound knowing you can't turn that shit off.
if anyone is wondering, you don't say YES to sticky keys or NO, you click on the hyperlink (the blue text) so you learn how to disable the pop up of _do you want sticky keys?_ ..so dumb...
It's not really on. It just politely asks whether or not you want to turn them on. Over and over again until you don't go into settings and turn that question off 😅
I do actually care for those tone keys (well, not sticky keys specifically) because some laptops, for example, don't have indicator lights for toggle keys and stuff.
1:22 I do have to say, that is a terrible dialogue. The question just above (which by the color might likely be a quick access to disabling the dialogue altogether) is put in a place where it confuses the question.
GUYS THIS IS BIG... the first time she did this she only had two games: Skyrim and Dishonored. Now we see that she has a lot more, INCLUDING TEAM FORTRESS 2. I will be the happiest man alive to see CC play TF2 or better yet, if there is a collab.
I don't know what Sticky Keys does and I don't care to know. Maybe some people like it. But why oh why did the Windows devs decide to make a keyboard shortcut for it that is automatically enabled instead of making it an option you can turn on?
They presumed back in the day there is no reason to press shift rapidly 5 times in a raw, so it makes it safe shortcut for a function. Any other shortcut requires at least two keys to be pressed separately, but sticky keys helps with exactly that: in this mode you can input shortcuts by consecutive presses. It helps some portion of disabled people.
That's the purpose of sticky keys if you click "yes". Pretty funny that CC is playing Sekiro with keyboard and mouse controls. Also a pretty based list of games she has in her Steam library.
Basically keeps you shift pressed down so you can access short cuts like cut copy paste print etc easily, mostly for people who have problem pressing two keys at a time due to some hand condition
"Do you wanna disable this random annoyance we added for no clear reason?" Microsoft could benefit in a lot of areas by just assuming the answer to that question is always yes. Same for Nintendo.
