The 1080ti is still widely used and has aged well. It’s a great card. She could save quite a bit and buy a 30 series card over the 40 series. Some other upgrades might be in order, so I vote use it until it doesn’t fit the use case or breaks, and then buy new. Consider repurposing the old unit for a different task with some used parts for a cheap yet capable pc/server/nas/ect.
