- The classic song given the emotive Dot treatment this charted in 1969, from the president years. Tom Jones had a hit with this in 1971 and quoted Dorothys version was the bees knees for more info on Dot go to Dorothysquires.co.uk In this picture it could be Shirley Bassey an older version but hey they both came from Wales and Diva is the word. cd releases via president.co.uk. Just like Dusty Springfield Dot had fantastic Orchestras Nicky Welsh on this and her other Hits For Once In My Life and My Way.

My uncle lived in London, would go to the palladium to see her. When he moved back to Wales, he would play her records for us. He had some lovely memories x
Dorothy was one of the all-time greats of music. A consummate performer. She sang with great passion and soul in her music.
Fond memories of my mother in tears listening to Dorothy
Mine too ❤💔
I miss my mum so much, and she always put that song on for my dad
Till x
Dorothy was an amazing performer. Her concerts were events to be treasured. She would get massive ovations. She gave everything in her live performances. She would song till she could sing no more. I know because I've been to many of her concerts.
Do you know the proper title for her song Megan....i can remember looking for it under megan, and couldnt find it, but i was told it wasnt the real title of the song. Even though i can now find it under the title megan. Just curious. I learnt a lot about her why i was child. ❤❤ id love to know this. Xxxxxx

I’ve never heard it before. Dorothy Squires wrote it!
I grew up listening to this wonderful lady. A favourite of both my parents. I have never heard anyone else sing with such passion. It must be a welsh thing. I still get goose bumps on goose bumps and eyes full of tears listening to her.
I wish you could have seen her `live` as I did from 1973 to 1990
My beautiful Dot and that fantastic emotional voice. I love you heaps.
Very special lady whom I was fortunate to call a friend, glad you enjoyed Ron.
If you have any bits of cultural trivia that you can share with us then please do.@@chrisrogers8374
Dorothy Squires, pure class, God bless, R.I.P...
Dad....💔💔💔💔💔💔 xxxxxxx
My uncle Fred would go and watch her in the palladium, he would play her records for us...... I always remember him for that 😊
Never grow tired of listening to Dot. Spent many hours with this lady and travelled all over to see and be with her when she performed her concerts. Talent like hers was and is still rare and she always gave 100% when she performed. She could tell a funny story or two as well ! Always miss her and never forget those days I spent with her.
she was certainly a class of her own R.I.P Dorothy ,colin carrington wales

2021 listening to this lovely song. Her voice was beautiful. My mum and dad used to dance to this at our parties we used to have. Memories ❤️❤️
I saw her live between 1973 and the final concert in 1990. Still treasure a letter from her. Favourite song `
Starts off like the bond theme you only live twice....
Truly a legend I love this song by Dorothy Squires I have loved it since 1969 she will always remain my special lady.
great voice!
This song starts off exactly like the Bond Theme You only Live Twice......
My thoughts exactly.... One of the best Bond songs by a country mile.
Until you pointed that out I hadn’t noticed - But how ironic the James Bond connection 😢
@@tallslimguy yes Simon templar. Aka Roger Moore. Aka 007.👍
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Live long and prosper.
Hi Chris That is truly an honour to have been a friend of this lovely lady.
There are many people who loved Dot, and its funny she is enjoying a bit of a revival, and about time too, thanks for your comment, glad you shared your memories with us....
Beautiful song, sang by a great singer, she was my mother's favourite singer many years ago, John
PANIE ROGER ,ŻONA PIĘKNIE ŚPIEWAŁA .❤
Dorothy is not known in the states, which is a shame. She always makes me smile. Her performance of Till always reminds me of a roller coaster ride with thrilling screams and calm lulls. So much better than anything today.
Dorothy was my idol ,The best voice around in those days
Hi fred she was a friend of mine.
Just Fabulous, I would hav Loved to have met her, Brilliant, she should never be Forgotten xxxx

Best Song Ever by Dorothy crank it up!
Megan is the best (but dont think thats the name of it) grew up with these with my dad and auntie 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 xxxxxxxxx
My perfect song to my husband- I’m lucky he does adore me ❤
It was in 1970 (entered in February). For Once In My Life was her hit in 1969; those two plus the next one, My Way, formed a hat-trick of singles making the 20's in the UK chart. 24, 25 and 25 respectively.
Heartbreaking, what a baby i am, but she makes me weep. Quite simply unbeatable. Dot comes from the era of great women singers, that have a history of pain and heartbreak and songs like this reflected their lives, thats why they move us so much..
What a star. Beautiful voice and a great determined lady. We miss you Dot but never forgotten i promise. God bless. X
400th like ....wonderful singing, and extraordinary great times back then, and I was only 9 years old back in 1970
Never heard this before till last month.
It's an amazing song which is beautifully sung.
Says it all about how I still feel about Elaine even though I have not seen her since 1979.
Thank you for your great comment on this song, its so appricated take care.......
Thanks susieshoesxx
Love it she was wonderful makes me want to cry
Dot always made me cry very often, it is the intense emotion in her voice, thanks for saying that. Drop by on other dot squires songs. Don't Ask Me Why is on you tube, another emotion filled performance.

I've never heard this song so many more beautiful than this lady did she definitely had a beautiful voice and she put her heart and soul in it thank you for posting this rendition of such a beautiful song with such a beautiful voice
what a voice best female singer ever
BEAUTIFUL SONG
What a great songstress her songs are so are so emotional, R.I.P. Dorothy,
+John Haddow I know Dorothy can break you heart over and over again.
To really appreciate Dorothy you needed to see her in concert it was an emotional experience not to be forgotten a tiny little lady with a heart as big as the world. She would receive standing ovations mid way through her songs I know this because I was there
that is so true, saw her at Drury Lane Theatre, was amazing.
Makes me cry. My mam loved dot x
An amazing singer, such emotion. She is one of the greatest performers to come out of wales. Her concerts were events to be cherished. She really was outstanding her songs were classy and her anecdotes were witty and very amusing. Dorothy was the forerunner to the career of many great singers to follow. Also a lovely lady.
Fantastic voice
Great version of this lovely song.
you had to see her `live` some of the truly greatest nights in a theatre were at her concerts from 1973 to 1990.. real heart and soul . I wish more of her performances had been filmed
This is a tenderly beautiful song
Thank you your most welcome......
THANK YOU.
Fantastic ❤😂
Squires had class and a great voice so emotionally vibrant with a great full hearted interpretation as this classic shows
John Michael Legend de,mis rous
I'm a quarter Welsh and a quarter Portugese. I am proud of my ancestry just for her and Amalia Rodrques.( Druids and Inqusisitions ; NO ). Long live Dorothy and Amalia.
Don't forget marizza
A tremendous singer, with such powerful emotion, no one can sing like Dorothy Squires.
Hi I agree no one sings emotion like Dorothy, thanks for commenting.
Welsh best singers in the world
Thank you James, indeed Dot was Fabulous and I am glad to say she was a friend of mine, much missed and unique, she seems to be enjoying a revival among the young because of her turbulent life style, thanks again take care.
gf1001 I’m glad I stumbled on this song by accident on call the midwife what a beutiful voice I’m going to try and get some of her cds
this is my favourite song
I agree with all of you.
Iv'e just decided to look at some of the singers from my era and Dorathy Squires
realy leaves her mark. This song realy great, have also listened to 'MY WAY' i rememer them days some years back when i thought her version of the song was without doubt simply the best.. Im now downloading a number of her songs and i will then make a C/D for the car... She had some probs, but don,t we all, You can,t take that wonderful singing voice away....She did it her way..
thank you for posting this . She was an amazing artist.
Dear gf1 001,
I have special memories too of Dot, from my happier days when my brother and me used to sit in my car some evenings just listening to Dots special magic whilst we puffed away merrily on a cigarette. Sadly both Dot and my Brother have since died, and i gave up smoking, but for a few fleeting moments it was heaven on earth. Thanks for jogging my memory.
My mum ADORED Dorothy Squires. Sunday morning breakfast in our house was eaten whilst listening to Dorothy belting our her songs with that incredible voice. I must admit that as a 5, 6, 7 year old I didn't appreciate Ms. Squires......I was more interested in the Osmonds and David Cassidy at the time.....but now......well, let's just say that if my mum was here I would say, "Ma, you were right.....Dorothy is the GREATEST singer in the world."
Hi Thanks Lorraine, the emotion is the winner I saw David Cassidy around 10 years ago very good he was too. Dorothy is often side lined for Bassey,
but Dot was the original and you cannot beat her, my parents too loved Dorothy, bless you for sharing your memories with us.
Excellent singer & song.
Wow this is the third time I have been back to your channel to hear Dorothy sing "Till" I have chosen this song to sing on Britian's Got Talent next Monday the in Manchester Nov: 16th. And have only just heard her version I will never match her rendition but it has inspired me so thank you so much for sharing it.xx
This has been my favourite song since I was young sang by Dorothy she was one of the best singer in her time
Thank you Kath your so right hope you enjoyed it?
Faboulose x
Dot really melts my heart. This is just beautiful.
Thank you for sharing.
Is that really her hair? or is she wearing a hat?
Whatever. She is still the beloved Dorothy.
Roger moore used her. She made him. She was a superstar
Sings with such passion,beautiful..
Big voice
Welsh and the best
@falconoilcompany I agree Dorothy is one of the most emotional singers EVER I knew her personally and it has even more meaning for me. Thank you for your lovely comment.
LINDOOOOO!!!
I always thought Dorothy our Piaf Garland, before Bassey but we Brits never make enough fuss of our own were bloody famous for it while the rest of the world celebrate their Divas I bet the europeans think we very strange as Indeed we are LOL
One of her most popular emotive recordings thanks 62laurie glad you enjoyed, thanks for your comment.
beauty incarnate with angelic tones
I know now where Robbie Williams intro to millenium came from lol.
She sang this for her x husband roger moore
Que boa interpretação !
I was under the impression, that she sang this for Roger Moore?
Squires met the actor Roger Moore at one of her parties at her mansion in Old Bexley, Kent. Moore, who was 12 years her junior, later became her husband when they married in New Jersey on 6 July 1953. She later said, "it started with a squabble, then he carried me off to bed."[citation needed] She introduced him to various people in the Hollywood film industry. As his career took off, hers started to slide. Their marriage lasted until 1961, when Moore left her. He was unable to marry legally until Squires agreed to a divorce in 1969.
She never stopped loving Roger Moore
Fabulous is a word for stars and dot squires the best puts all the others in the shade so sadly missed xx
The music starts out with the same sound track beginning of the James Bond theme "You Only Live Twice" but not with Roger Moore.
Ironic 😢
Dorothy Squires sang Maman on the Golden Shot in the 70s (I think if I remember correctly) left a lasting impression on me . She was Fab.
I always remember that performance. Made me sit up and take notice. It was the shortened version of course. I saw her `live` from 1973 to 1990 and once heard the `irony of war` routine at Drury Lane. Surely someone has that footage

Her voice is crying
Magnifique !...
Dot was a fabulous singer, please listen to some of her other you tube videos, enjoy! thank you.
beautiful voice
I think its rather silly comparing Shirley bassey to Dorothy both are welsh and both are dramatic singers, also both are supreme stars in their own right. Dorothy was influence by all Jolson, Dorothy had some influence on Shirley's early career....that's the way it works...Shirley will have an influence on someone else's career.
Dav
Its A hat Divas always do this LOL Dot looks a bit like Shirley Bassey here no bad thing LOL
@hollbri
Du bist sicher nicht der einzige dt. Dorothy-Fan.
Seit ich ihre Version von If i never sing another song and Where do i begin gehört habe, bin ich auch Fan.
Ich bin sicher, dass sie Shirley inspiriert hat.
She should have been a bigger star, there are not many of her recordings available.
Try The Eyes Of A Man also on here its a Diva Dot track lol.
The beginning sounds like a 007 intro
It does Victoria thanks for your comment!
@stevewantsit1 You obviously are a great fan? pity she cant sue you for your lovely comment GO DOT......
Yes its a bit james bondish thats for sure thanks for that
I think you Wilbur you might be right lol lol lol.......
