This was a tricky one to film but also a lot of fun to make! As always I extend the question to you guys, what do you think? Is the Digital Nomad lifestyle a scam?

Is there a particular reason why you choose Chiang Mai as an example of 'wantrepreneurs'?

@@TRTRTV Hey, welcome to the channel 😀 So from our own experience and research, Chiang Mai is probably one of the most famous Digital Nomad hotspots, if not the most popular! So a lot of people looking to get into that lifestyle head there to see if it's viable for them. Also another reason I think Chiang Mai gets referenced for 'wantrepreneurs' is a few years back there was a 'scam' that happened where 2 brothers were selling aspirational lifestyle courses (I think) to would-be digital nomads without actually having anything of value to sell. Which was one of the events within the community which has lead to questions such as the one in this episode being submitted. Hope that helps buddy!

Some unifying factors of "digital nomads": 1. Always try to monetize their TH-cam channels (because they're making so much money outside of that, right?); 2. Always 20something white kids who don't speak a word of the language in any country they visit and do next to zero research on the culture and customs of those countries; 3. Give the strong impression that they have the ultimate safety net of the Bank of Rich Parents; 4. Have enormous carbon footprints from frequent international flights; 5. Rarely speak about the negative aspects of their lifestyle because that doesn't attract TH-cam viewers; 6. Always overpay for *everything* in whatever country they're in and then say "wow, it's so super-cheap compared to LA or London!". Yeah, but so is Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Oops and I almost forgot: They've all "found their passion". Whatever that means. I don't think they could define it if you paid them to do it.

You know it’s funny, because most of the travellers I’ve met and still speak to, have never found their passion and don’t profess this either. I just think spending time doing what you want, when you want is so liberating. This process surely gives you the time to consider what you value and how you want your life to pan out. Not all, but a majority of those who profess to have found their passion, purpose/THE ANSWER TO LIFE, say this because they’re trying to sell something. I’ve found something I’m truly passionate about doing (which I learnt while travelling) which is making short and long form documentaries about people or topics that matter. It is a special experience, that I do for free sometimes because it is what makes me feel most alive. Having said all this, you still make some good points 😂

@@CuecardProductions I saw that you were a Digital Nomad and thought that maybe you were apart of the Christian Martin group. I am on the fence about his program. And have been trying to find actual people who are currently active within his program. I am recovering from head/neck trauma that was sustained at work since Aug 2019. I have been out of work with no money coming in. And since we are all dealing with this global pandemic. Coming up with money that I don't have readily available for a program. That may not provide the effective desired results because of this pandemic. I am trying to do my research first. Thank you for responding!😁

@@msd7782 hello, I don't know you and I will never meet you but I truly pray you listen to me. Do not waste your money or invest your dreams into these Digital Nomad schemes.. They are MLM scams, it is that simple. Anything they teach you can be googled for free or read in an inexpensive book. These people are only making money from selling courses or commission for referrals. Why don't they just put what they're teaching you into practice themselves and become wealthy and happy beyond their wildest dreams. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY. ESPECIALLY MONEY YOU CAN'T AFFORD. Invest what you can into learning a marketable skill or upgrading your skill at a reputable educational institution.
