Robert G: I feel the same. This is an awesome song for many reasons. I love how so many guys are posting tutorials on this old classic.........if live music regains the popularity it had years ago, I guess there will be quite a few bands keeping this great music alive.
This is the BEST lesson on this tune hands down. Not only accurate but he teaches it simply but not at beginner level. Well explained. If you want to learn this tune, here is all you need, Well done WWGL! thanks for posting.
Just found your video. I'm 64 years old and just a beginner, and I am putting my mind to work on this song. Thank you very much. Keep your video on you tube, I need to watch many times. At 64, it takes me a much longer time to learn things new. Getting older sucks, but you got to keep going or die. Thanks again.
As a 59 year old I bought my guitar to learn the 2 songs that I have adored all my life. You guessed, Jessica and Blue Sky. Always been able to find a Jessica lesson on line, but never Blue Sky. You just just made my day. So nice to have the tabs available and a teacher who just shows you how to without showing off or failing to explain the really complex stuff. This track is not for the faint hearted but the reward to just get near some of these notes makes it so worthwhile. As others have said you should promote yourself a little more, I only found this by chance. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Stephen! At times I feel like these lessons run a little long, but I try to keep in mind that there's all different levels of players learning from these, so I try to make them accessible to all. Good luck with your practice and learning this wonderful song!!
This is me too! This song and Song of the wind by Santana. I’m 33 and all I want is two be able to play those two songs before I die and I’ll be so happy haha
I have to echo the comments of others. This is absolutely THE BEST lesson for this tune. No comparison. With some other lessons I was getting stuck making it sound like I know it needs to sound, but you break it down so clearly that I'm able to move forward. And I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates the longer explanation. Very well done, indeed! Thanks tons for this!
Best lesson on this song going. Top stuff. Inwas struggling with how many bars each chord went for and this is the only video that actually says that. Thanks alot
Wow! I just found this video tutorial on Blue Sky. It's the song that I told myself I must master before I bite the dust. And here it is. Good to know there are many fans of this song as well. Now, my dream can come true. LOL! Thanks to Weeping Willow for the great video tutorial. It beats learning from the computer by miles!
This is AWESOME and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for the magnificent work on this great song. You are very very good at what you do and I'm proud to be subscribed to your account. I'm a 66 year old man with fat broken arthritic fingers and I'll be spending a lot of my free time trying to get this down. BRAVO MAESTRO BRAVO
Thanks for all of your Blue Sky videos, they are really great. Lots of time and effort, and top level quality. Really helpful. a great aid to those of us who love the song and are trying our best to make it happen.
This is the first song I will learn on guitar thanks to your expert teaching. I am currently at 6:40 in the video and I've been doing it over and over again until it sounds good so I can move on. Great song and great lesson, subbed!
Just a fantastic breakdown of this wonderful tune!!! - always wanted to figure out the whole tune - thanks to you I now have it pretty much nailed - cheers mate!!!
What an awesome job you did making this video! From the explanation to the tabs and to playing it! This is a classic from the Allman Brothers and you nailed it! Thanks and now I'm hooked on learning this classic!!!
Honesty the most in depth lesson ever! Even if it doesn’t suit how I learn, I still gotta love it! You go through each chord, the scales, the different parts, I mean this is great! Everything anyone could ask for. I love your tone, playing and overall sound and take on this song! Closest thing to the original yet! Thank you!!!
Man you are a wizard! What a great lesson can't wait to dive into this! Wish the play bar wasn't right in the tab but ill figure it out. You really did this song justice! Awesome work much appreciated!
I just stumbled across this video listening to Blue Sky, what an excellent tutorial. I'll be going through this piece by piece Saturday and most probably most or all of the day at that lol! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this really.
Hey man, I really thank you for this! I’ve been looking for a tutorial of this for months and I accidentally found your video on my recommended videos. Best tutorial of this song! Keep up the good work, spread the blues!!
I just discovered your channel thank you very much for blue sky you explain it very well it’s coherent you’re playing is right on your transcriptions are correct so thank you for that I am going to work on this and make it my project for this week much appreciated! Danni
This is great,I have about 90% of this song down and this will help :-). I think one of the hardest things of this song is to keep the timing with the lead,it’s got a great feel to it. Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much for taking all the time to develop and post this. One of my all time favorites and I’m having a great time learning how o play this.
Always look forward to your content, Craig, top-notch! Your lessons are packed full of good info, and while easy to understand, I appreciate that you don't over-simplify the lessons...
Thanks, Guy Slater, I appreciate that. I think it's important to understand what you're playing, because eventually you're going to forget a bunch of songs and licks that you knew; however, the concepts will always be a part of your playing.
Weeping Willow Guitar Lessons well put, and having played for more than two decades, I can attest to that. As Jerry used to say, paraphrasing: it's not about the destination, it's about the journey, the process. So thank you for being even a small part of that journey for me and the many others that you've helped along the way.
Much appreciated man!!! First person to actually post the whole song most people just do intro or main riff an never the whole song. Have any plans to do any more ABB full song videos?? I’d pay for a membership if ever thought of doing that
You're welcome. If you're up for the challenge, you'll have to have a go at the solos in the next two lessons. Duane seamlessly switches between whole step and step and a half bends with crazy precision!
Weeping Willow Guitar Lessons I’m looking forward to it man! Love learning Greg and Dickys Lead, reminds of playing slide without a slide, your an awesome teacher brother keep up the amazing work!
Such a good lesson. Thanks for breaking each part down slowly. Really helps me practice and work out the parts. Its fun/useful playing the different harmonizing parts over your playing. Could you do this style of breakdown and lesson with other ABB tunes like Liz Reed or Jessica? Hot Lanta?
Thanks, Craig. Those other songs are all tunes I love and have thought about doing at some point (along with others). I just assumed there were already tons of lesson videos for "Liz Reed" and "Jessica." Is that not the case?
@@WeepingWillowGuitarLessons Yeah. There definitely are, but not like your format with the tab and clear fingering and explanations. Been working on your Mountain Jam lesson too. Great stuff.
hi! i need to learn the dickey betts solo for a performance coming up june 9th. that’s a blink of an eye from now. when are you posting part 3? great lessons, thank you!
The basic problem is you skip the primary structure of the song ..the chords... until later . The intro timing and progression is more important that the solos to get started.
Until I post a proper blog article on this, you can find the chart and transcription here: weepingwillowguitar.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/ABB_Blue_Sky.pdf
Hello and thank you BIG TIME. Question: the version I have on CD seems to be in a different tuning than the standard tuning I'm in. Any advice on that?
Hi Chad - The tuning on the CD is in standard tuning, but the recording is sharp by about 22 cents. There's 100 cents in a half step, so we are talking about a small increment of sharpness, but enough to sound really off when you play along with it. If you have a tuner that shows cents, you could tune your guitar sharp by 22 cents and it should sound a lot better when you play along. I have a backing track on my channel for this song that is in standard pitch, so when you play along with it, it will sound correct.
Most complete and comprehensive breakdown of my all-time favorite guitar song. Been waiting 46 years for this... man, thank you.

There wasn't a harmony line for the intro on the "Eat A Peach" version. That was added later. I did go through the two guitar parts for the intro.
