LOL the amount of people triggered when we called it "LCD".
Even if we call it "14.2-inch (diagonal) Liquid Retina XDR Display" it doesn't change the fact that it was paired to the M1, and replacing the panel yourself will cause the Mini LED backlight behave erratically.
You need to reprogram the display with AST2 to fix this, and you can only run this cloud software if you buy it from Apple.

Mini LED is not fully an LED display as it still relies heavily on LCD technology, although it is still way better than traditional LCD displays

Its hilarious how computers are INTENTIONALLY designed to be hard to repair nowadays. Its excusable with phones because of the small form factor but with older laptops and computers (most tower pcs you still can) you could often just pop the CPU, RAM, even the screen sometimes out and replace it easily. Modern laptops like Framework show this isnt due to any limitations and compromises having to be made but rather intentional decisions, like RAM being soldered on despite RAM slots in a laptop not taking up much space or being that much more expensive.

the construction of the lcd with notch is different from the other LCD screen that we use on laptop nowadays. it have a separate layer or backlit and lcd which is more like those high end tvs. when replacing the panel of the tvs, its also common to replace the lcd driver together due to the existed calibration specific to the previous panne which may makes the newer panel looks worse. the issue shown on the video may only reflect how hardware calibration were done on factories.

What exactly do they mean by calibration here (except for serial pairing)? If anything at all, the display as a single unit must be capable of displaying images as sent in by the logic board. I'm not sure, but i think most, if not all laptops use some standard (internal) port/protocols for communication (eg: display port). And even with multiple dimming zones, they display itself should be the one handling the dimming based on the image content and configuration, because hey, the logic board doesn't host the display controller right? And if any calibration is required, won't/shouldn't that be stored on the display itself, why pair it and offload it onto the logic board (except money of course). Is it just Apple trying to fool consumers with the word "calibration" when it is just serial pairing? Now this is a genuine question: Can anyone tell me what exactly do they mean by "calibration" here?

    • @coctailrob

In my humble opinion, I don’t think Apple has the worst repair policy imaginable (yeah, they could make it easier for indie technicians and a little cheaper too) but we’re not talking about entry level laptops made for the mass, they are designed for people who need the max out of everything (display, performance, battery etc.) and can pay for it. Anyone who has used non genuine hardware before knows how it can downgrade your experience. Samsung, who probably has the best display quality in a laptop, also has some painful repair prices for the Galaxy Book Pro models. There are absolutely no companies that love the customer better than the profit they can generate, however it comes.

I honestly do not know why people use apple over pc. I cant even render right in apple, bc ray tracing is not native. Rhino, solidworks, catia and yes even keyshot todesnt render right in macs… also u cant program on RSO by using mac just doesnt sit well.. also the wattage is so low so performance is so low. i just dont understand why people buy it.. even illustrator , photoshop u have to command to undo things… get a razer instead
