I am a 5-6 times a year fisherman without a heap of knowledge, so I rely on a tackle shop person to advise me on what is best to use. Although I have lately found your site on You Tube and I am learning with each video of how to catch each species of fish. My favorite fish are whiting and flathead, as they are great to catch and eat. My fishing is done when on holiday as the closest saltwater is over 3hrs drive away, yes I am a Bushy. Thanks for your time and knowledge spent to help us amateurs out. My lines are a mix of 10lb green braid and clear mono, several years old.
At the end of the day everyone has their own opinion and that opinion is formed through experience. I’ve been fishing since I could walk and I’m almost 34 years old! I base my TH-cam channel of things I would do personally and will never mislead or give anyone info or advice that I wouldn’t do myself. I’m always happy to help and will respond to any DM’s or questions. Whiting and flathead are great target species! Thank you soo much for the support 🫶
I’ve really been enjoying using the jbraid multicolour in 10lb because it is strong enough for the possibility for a fish bigger than intended. It’s great for Bonnie’s and salmon but still light enough for bream.
Currently on my finesse gear I use j-braid grand 6lb with J-THREAD X-LINK FC 4lb. The lighter line makes it more challenging, but also increases the excitement factor of catching bread and butter type species of fish.
Cool method of using the headrest of the car to help spool your reel, I'll have to give that a go. Have used Gosen line but the the J-Braid is working well for me. Cheers.
@@TheFinesseAngler I really like how thin it is for the breaking strain which gives great casting distance. The J-Braid is really closing the gap between the two I reckon.
What a great show for me thankyou I actually try to stick to 10lb braid I'd like to use 6 or 8 but I need that extra strength to lift the fish because of my circumstances
I mlike to watch and learn how you retrieve your lures. I'm a crap lure fisho becuse I'm fairly new to this discipline, (my exdperience is mainly bait fishing), but I learn lots from your Yt videos. My line of choice is J Braid Expedition 8, because, like you, I've found it reliable in the wind, maximumises casting distance and will cope with the unexpected bigger fish when I'm fishing for Whiting and Bream.
New to using braid, & have just purchased 2lb platypus super braid, & siglon 4lb PEx8 to replace my current ultralight mono setups & a spool of 20lb x8 J-Braid for my heavier rig. the 2lb setup can be a ton of fun if you have some open water.
On my spin setup, I am currently running spider wire 8lb. I like this braid as it is only 15 dollars, and it seems to hold up well to all the fish I have caught. Cheers,
For blades and surface I use braid 8-10lb braid is a lot more buoyant so it helps with surface Crabs and cranks I use 4 - 6 lb straight through fluorocarbon Soft plastics depending on if it’s deep or shallow I’ll either use 8-10lb braid with 4lb leader or if it’s flats I’ll use 3lb straight through
I’m 29yrs old and have been fishing since I could even remember and I’ve tried all types of lines but when it comes to J Braid it just does something to my heart and won’t be changing to anything else by the looks of it.
My go to braid is Unitika Bream Super PE Jr. Its green, very easy to cast and has excellent abrasion, ifind the braid is best in 0.6 or 8lb as it isnt too fine to cause problems with wind knots on casting, some can be too thin and the length i get extra is taken up in time to undo twists and knots. 😊
Good morning im a newbie to lure fishing always been a bait fisherman I've been using x braid in 10 pound catching some very nice 55cm flat heads it's very smooth but haven't had the chance yet to try out different braids as of yet but I'm sure I will get the opportunity soon enough to swap out and try something new thanks fella and have a great day
I like to use a 6-8 pound braid with a 6 or 8 pound leader for chasing bream and other bread and butter species. I like using the new expedition braid as my current spool has lasted me just over 6 months now and I am yet to switch the braid to the bit on the inside of the spool. I love your videos and they have taught me so much about bream fishing and just fishing in general. Thanks
I normally run 8lb inroad expedition orange, however I do use 10lb too as I normally skull treat the fish over sea walls as a net can’t reach. Extra strength is great and the diameter isn’t much difference from 6-8 or even 10lb. Cheers for ur vid mate
I use 8 lbs Expedition braid for bream, however I have a theory that the 10 lbs would be better due to the extra grab on the leader to line knot, and you would get better response between you and the lure….
Great video abs, just getting back into it and going to use 30-40lb line for the set up I’m looking at but may also look at a light 8-10lb braid for my 2nd set up, looking at the J Braid too
6-8lb braid is all you need to land good fish in the rivers/estuaries.if you have confidence in your knots, drag set correct and a bit of luck, you’ll be surprised at some big fish that can be caught on light gear.keep up the great work Abz👍🎣🐟
I use 8lb j braid expedition 150m I have been fishing for almost a year and have already learned so much from your Chanel and I watch all your videos and always look forward to them I am subscribed to your Chanel with notifications on and I would really enjoy and use that hat and lures and line if you don’t pick me I understand because there is so many other great options and keep posting these great videos to help us aspiring fishermen
I’ve been tying long leaders ever since I learnt the FG knot with the rizutto finish. Have never had an issue with the knot hitting the guides, especially on the lighter rods with tiny guides
I have the 8x kairiki braid in 8lb on my main 2 reels, think i just picked them as they were on sale. Haven’t tried the J braid before so will have to give it a go next time i spool one up! Recently found your channel and am really enjoying it. Would love a video showing a walkthrough of your kayak or all rods and reels similar to your tackle bag one! Keep up the good work 👌
I really only fish finesse now so my go to braid is 6lb j braid I've currently got my 2000 spooled with island blue j braid grand 6lb. I use 6lb because I can cast a mile but can still get decent fish up if I play it right. Definitely going to try the trick with the car seat next time I spool a reel. love the content
I use 6lb fireline a brand of line you cant get anymore because my dad stocked up on it, in my opinion it has almost the best knot strength on the market very underrated
Lately I have been loving using the orange j-braid expedition in 8lb on my 2500S revelry paired with an Infeet S, its and awesome braid for light flats fishing!
Cracking tips mate I love the j-braid grand it’s always been so good for me for distance casting i use 6lb and if i’m doing structure fishing i usually go a bit heavier 8-10lb
i use jbraid expedition for all my fishing as I've had the least issues with it compared to other brands. i normally spool up with 8-10lb or a pe.6 or .8 for all my finesse fishing like bream, bass etc.
Nice one, I go with 10lb braid for land based, 6lb for kayak. Jbraid x8 is great, especially in 6lb, it just seems to last longer. 6lb braid works best for my fg knots. Double uni for 10lb. My hack is I use the drink pocket of my backpack to re-spool from. Loving your vids man.
Just changed to daiwa experdition braid after some great reviews. I'm using 15lb for jew and will love the 10lb for my lighter set ups. I've noticed further casting and zero wind knots. I also follow the line laboratory you tube with the daiwa experdition great results. 😊
Hey mate this video is so GOOD!! thanks for the teaching🙏 my favourite braid is six pound or eight thanks for this awesome video my dream is to be sponsord by Daiwa so I could do giveaways like this 🙏🤙🤙🤙
Thanks for the support! Great choice mate. I’m not sponsored and everything I’m giving away in this video has been funded by myself. Ready for the stars mate! If anyone else can do it, you can too!
You keep doing good videos well done. Grand is awesome very reliable I've just started trying Expedition. I'd like to see you expand with Leader knots and mono versus Fluorocarbon. The Salt Strong videos on mono vs fluoro are pretty interesting
Great show my friend, I haven’t used J Braid yet. But I need to replace some line and this is a great option. Thanks for the advice, all the best from Moe town in Gippsland..😂
I’ve been running the J braid expedition in 0.6 (8lb) and I find it great for bream, trout & Redfin I’m thinking of getting a spool of the 0.8 (10lb) for my bass setup. Wicked prize pack mate. Keep the videos coming ( more bass please 😂)
I have switched to the orange as it is seen on the water in all conditions. No wind knots🤞 either. It is easy to see for tying knots as well. I also like the nitlon dc leader. What’s your choice and theories on length of leader? I love the channel to and feel inspired and wiser after each vid. Bring on more and hope to see you on the water again soon. 👊
The smash orange is great! I tend to go a rod length of leader. I like the leader knot to be just above where my casting finger is. Really appreciate the support Mark! It never goes unnoticed
I use Majorcraft Dangan P.E. 0.6. It is rated at 14lb Where as the DAIWA J braid Grand PE 0.6 is only rated at 6lb and the Expedition PE 0.6 is rated for 8Lb. Ive had no issues with the Dangan
i have cheap 14lb braid off amazon and every time i cast i barely have any line left bcuz i only have a 2500 size reel i think the 10lb would work better for my reel
siglon adv 8 is great however i recently made the switch to jbraid expedition for the nice contrasting colour, very similar in quality. (PE 0.6/6-8 lb)
Hey mate thanks for the content. My go to line is the J-BRAID GRAND 6LB in Island blue. Have had it since it came out and hasn't let me down yet. Quick question when is the next comp ? Cheers
I've tried Tasline and Sunline Siglon a few times and both were OK. Upgrade X Pentagram and Saltiga are the super expensive ones that I could only afford to try once but I wasn't truly impressed? It's entirely possible that I got a crap batch or something, but the Pentagram was awful. The Saltiga was passable but didn't blow me out of the water (ha). I've generally had better experiences with JBraid Expedition and I'm interested in trying the Kairiki+ but every store seems to be out of stock. I like that hat.
Always good to try a handful of different braids to see what works best for you. I’ve tried suffix 832 in the past and didn’t mind it. There were a few other brands that I couldn’t stand at all! I won’t mention the names though.
I use 8lb daiwa 8 strand braid and 8lb fluorocarbon leader for a bunch of different species such as bream, flathead, trevaly, tilapia, bass, and squid and it holds up realy well on all of them, but i will sometimes go up to 12lb leader when targeting bass and big flaties👍😀
I have a few different setups of both straight thru and braid/leader and use them depending on the where and how im targeting the Bream. My go to braid has been the Gosen casting .6pe but have recently tried ygk upgrade pentagram in the same size and I'm really liking it so far. I won't name all the braids I've tried and replaced after a couple of sessions 😅
I really need to try straight through! I wonder if it will increase my catch rate in difficult situations. Haha I’ve had my fair share of issues too. Thanks for watching Johnathon 👌
@@TheFinesseAngler trying to mate , but work gets on the way . I usually manage to get down the local for a quick flick , but it's been pretty slow here in both the salt and the fresh . Hopefully this rain will bring the bass on . 🤙✔️🎣
I run a 1000 Vanford with two spools; one's got 6lb J-Braid with 4-6lb flouro leader, and the other has 8lb Tasline Elite with 8lb flouro leader. I find that easier when I'm on the go to have a backup spool ready to go. So easy to switch up between Bream/Bass/Carp to Flathead, Tailor, Salmon etc. Also the spare spool is cheaper than another Vanford 😂
@@TheFinesseAngler Honestly I got it cause of the raving reviews but it's not as visible on bright days, and gets discoloured quite easily bro; my other reels have the Orange J-Braid on them so I'll phase this one out soon.
If I'm being honest, I have found J Braid to be pretty junk, however have not tried the expedition. I also don't select braid based on its 'poundage', but rather on its PE rating. I have found for my bream fishing requirements I mainly us 0.8PE Sunline Castaway (12lb) and on a couple of other reels for flats fishing I use 0.6PE Castaway (10Lb).
Big catch in Bankstown might have some left if you’re lucky! If you’re not close, give them a call and mention my name. They’ll look after you for sure

Always good to have a variety 👌
J braids are super smooth for long, casting, and strong.
8lb Daiwa expedition is the way to go and I am loving it.
I was struggled on casting distance with other brand on light lures.
I’ve recently just changed to 8lb braid, being great being able to cast far so easily and reach where the fish are biting. Tight lines👌
I've been using 6lb platypus braid for chasing bream, flathead and whiting.I will be giving this braid a go for sure.
Just tried 10lb j braid and it’s improved my casting distance.
Great info. Ta.
That’s great! Thanks for watching
I personally use 10 pound expedition just for a all rounder and run 8-6 pound for everything
Perfect!
Cool method of using the headrest of the car to help spool your reel, I'll have to give that a go. Have used Gosen line but the the J-Braid is working well for me. Cheers.

I tend to go for 10lb expedition braid mainly chasing bream, flathead, bass and the occasional trev
I tend to run the 10lb on a couple of my outfits! Good to have that extra strength when you need it, especially for bass and flathead 👌
I use 8 lbs Expedition braid for bream, however I have a theory that the 10 lbs would be better due to the extra grab on the leader to line knot, and you would get better response between you and the lure….
Both work great! Sometimes it’s good to have that extra pulling power when needed
I use 6lb for bream and 20lb for flathead in the racks
Love the video Abz…. great tips and detail my go to is .6PE in jbraid haven’t tried the grand or the expedition
Thanks for watching man! Great choice 👌

My go to braid is platypus 6 to 8lb 8 strand normally in the hot pink
Lately I have been loving using the orange j-braid expedition in 8lb on my 2500S revelry paired with an Infeet S, its and awesome braid for light flats fishing!
Great choice!
I use 8lb & 10lb J braid grand and expedition for pretty much all my reels
Cracking tips mate I love the j-braid grand it’s always been so good for me for distance casting i use 6lb and if i’m doing structure fishing i usually go a bit heavier 8-10lb

Double uni for 10lb.

Loving your vids man.
Great Hack! Nothing better than being able to spool your reels alone with ease
6-8lb J braid grand goes hard
for jewies and kingfish i prefer to use 20-30lb j braid because of its thin diameter and because when ur on big jewies u dont want ur line to snapp

8 pound shimano kairiki and 8 pound fluro. Will up the leader if specifically going out targeting flatties. The Kairiki seems to cast amazingly!
Interesting! What’s your go to leader brand?
I just find whatever looks good at my local usually around 4 to 8 lb j braid and a suffix 6lb leader
Braid I use spider wire 6lb
Good old spider wire!
siglon adv 8 is great however i recently made the switch to jbraid expedition for the nice contrasting colour, very similar in quality.
(PE 0.6/6-8 lb)
I enjoy using 6lb jbraid or kairiki with 6lb fc rock leader, can catch some suprisingly big fish on it.
Daiwa saltiga 12 braid my favourite
I haven’t tried it yet. What’s the lightest poundage it comes in?
@ 0.5 PE 10lb
For finesse i dont mind kariki x4 8lb its suprisingly good other than that nomad panderra
Do you get good casts with it?
@TheFinesseAngler my mates use expedition and the kariki x4 casts same and the knots are heaps better
Hey mate thanks for the content. My go to line is the J-BRAID GRAND 6LB in Island blue. Have had it since it came out and hasn't let me down yet. Quick question when is the next comp ? Cheers
Great choice! Very reliable and great colour. The next kayak fishing comp?
@@TheFinesseAnglerThe next competition bream etc I meant, should of been clearer apologies😅😂
Great choice! What’s your go to leader brand?
@TheFinesseAngler My go to leader brands are either the daiwa j thread FC or sunline FC rock👍
I use 6lb flurocarbon leader for everything its just the go to for bream and every bread and butter species
What brand is your favourite?
@TheFinesseAngler j thread
Dave from Parra again mate . 👍 10lb braid , and 10lb FC leader , I reckon can catch anything .
Always good to see you here Dave! Can definitely put the brakes on a few species with 10lb 👌. Been getting much fishing done lately?
Having a spare spool is too good! Covering all bases. What’s your thoughts on the Tasline?
And also the hat is so cool every time I watch your videos I always wonder how can I buy that hat it is that cool! , do you know where to get it 🙏
Big catch in Bankstown might have some left if you’re lucky! If you’re not close, give them a call and mention my name. They’ll look after you for sure
I use 13lb varivas line. However it is pe 0.6 so it is the same diameter as 6lb but is stronger
I’ve used the light blue varivas in the past and I didn’t mind it at all! Have you landed some good fish on it?
@@TheFinesseAnglerI have caught a few salmon and some big carp
