I think Dead Island 2 and Evil West deserve more attention. They are doing anything new and definitely won’t win any awards but they’re just plain fun games. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Kena: Bridge of Spirits deserve more recognition as well.

Psychonauts 2 I recently played this year along with the first game for the very first time. Enjoyed both games. I was especially taken aback how authentically good the sequel was for being a long awaited followup.
I was just put off by the gay wedding they shoved into this whimsical adventure. I mean, why? Not a problem if that doesn’t bother you but a deal breaker for those of us that it does.
@@antiquecardboard TBH, I don’t remember anything significant that happened in terms of representation or what have you. Something like that would go over my head because it doesn’t mean anything for me. Especially in a world of fictional random characters.
@@antiquecardboard The game is about exploring the psyche and minds of different characters and that wedding was a significant part of that character's backstory. I'm not super pc or anything but I don't understand the hate for representation in video games, who cares?It shouldn't matter in most cases or make you uncomfortable.
Sunset Overdrive and Rage 2 were so good! I would also throw Hunt Showdown and Mad Max to this list 🤙🏽

One game I haven’t seen to many people mention is mafia definitive edition. It feels fresh compared to most games today as it’s linear and doesn’t try to be something more than it actually is, the story is really well made and the biggest reason to play the game and one of the most important things is that it doesn’t overstay its welcome by adding filler stuff like most modern games do
Besides the ones you mentioned all of which I've played a bunch, here's some games I'd add to your list. Midnight fight Express, Ruiner, shadow warrior 3, postal brain damaged, the ascent, cult of the lamb, nightmare reaper, severed steel, trepang2, WH40K boltgun, republic commando remastered, the final station, pathologic 2.
Hitman is amazing. One of my favorite series. But it was slow and awkward to get started. Now that it's completely out, it's really fantastic.

The original Rage is actually considered an underrated gem of the PS3 generation.
The new Hitman trilogy and Psychonauts 2 are both incredible. I've spent 500 hours in each hitman game and i'm still not done. Psychonauts is just the most creative and engaging platformer out there. Both worth playing more than once.

Bugsax is one of my favorite games of all time. I don't think I've ever played a game where I love the characters soo much and were invested in their stories. I didn't want it to end. The bugsnacks are very creative and the music is awesome. Love everything about this game. I also love the subtle darkness that creeps out every now and then in it. A hidden gem

After all of that time and hours played, have you even unlocked all of the Trackmania tracks yet? Getting gold on all of the black level tracks can be brutal.
I spent so many hours in each level in Hitman learning everything. It's got replay value out the yin yang.

Spark of hope is amazing. Worth getting on sale. This help introduce me to RPG games and it gave Mario Galaxy vibes. The first Mario Rabbids didn't hook me, but the game play has improved. It was the equivalent of a Like a dragon to LAD Infinite Wealth upgrade.

Psychonauts 2 was a fun game. I played it on gamepass a year or so ago. I don’t think I would’ve ever bought it to play it though.

Why the devs didn't include an ng+ mode in sleeping dogs is beyond me. That would've given it alot more replay value.
I don’t know why but I couldn’t get into Sparks of Hope. Yet, I LOVED the first game. Idk what it was about it. I gave up after a few hours
Great video and great picks. Still angry at the gaming community for hating on Rage 2 (even Tubular Johnathan seems embarrassed to talk about it). It’s a masterpiece of fun game design. Loved every second of it.
dl2 won't ever live up to dl1, but the parkour is so good and it still is a great game. also: sleeping dogs is imo one of the greatest open world games of all time

psychonauts 2 is my fav game of all time. Lacks the weirdness and inventive level mechanics of the first game but in terms of story it's perfect imo.
Deus Ex Human Revolution, Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2, Dishonored 1 and 2, Darksiders 1 and 2 and Torchlight 2 are also extremely underrated imo. Good list though!

Sundered: Eldritch Edition is the best sidescroller I have played since Super Metroid.
Well since you asked for them, I will try and point out some games that I personally found underrated and hopefully you might fight interesting. One of them is Megaton Musashi Wired by the creators of Nino Kuni, a very recent release. Minecraft Dungeons is a game I very much enjoy, though it might be just my own taste. Deathloop and dishonored 2 they are very well recognized but maybe not so much appreciated for just how great they really are imho. Days Gone, one of the most insane zombie games, people really know about it but not everyone loves it. Fallout 4 man I have all the bias in the world for it but it's in my opinion a true Masterpiece and only rarely is being treated as one.

Rage 2 and Dying light 2 are both games I spend a lot of time with. DL2 I feel is somewhat deserving of its mixed reputation because it really is a flawed game in so many ways and the first game was better for sure. Rage 2 is a very fun game and a great FPS, but for the studios it involves it should have been better, it had to be superb but it feels as if the developers just didn't put enough effort into it.Thanks!

No mere FPS, this game will turn you into John Wick the Jedi inside the Matrix.
The open world lets you acquire the abilities and weapons in the order you see fit.
Made by iD software, it’s eggs are all in one badass basket. When this game clicks, and you’re firing on all cylinders, there’s nothing that compares to how much of an ultimate badass experience *_Rage 2_* is.
Psychonauts 2 was tied with my game of the year it takes two. It's that good and if that it's a higher recommendation I don't know what is. I have never tied a game for game of the year ever. I always have a stance that game is special and needs to be played. I have seen on steam it get as low as 10 dollars. Please check it out if you haven't played it.

Yeah it’s very mediocre imo
people claim that blood money is better than modern hitman. I played majority of hitman games and I still find hitman trilogy the hardest, yet the best hitman game. It's MAJOR improvement from old games and absolution with tons of quality of life features.

Yakuza didn't make it on the list because it's not underrated. The series has a decent fan base. If anything Yakuza games live up to the hype.

Tried playing sleeping dogs but the gameplay feels too janky, it maybe was good at that time.
You're list is too good. If you make a dirt-teir list, you can rage bait the passionate into a whole bunch of interaction.
Psychonauts 2 didn't click with me like the first game did. I wholeheartedly LOVE the original Psychonauts... but the sequel lost the bite that the first game had. The original game was both hilarious yet poignant. It balanced the humor with the deeper symbolism and troubled backgrounds of the characters perfectly.
The sequel... veered too hard into activism and felt afraid to step on any toes. I understand they want to portray mental illness with respect, but I feel they tried so hard to not be offensive that the game itself ending up feeling alienating both in terms of its messaging and its creativity.
You can't handle some of these issues with kid gloves. Heck, the very people who suffer from things like social anxiety, inadequacy, alcohol abuse, etc. USE biting humor to help them deal with it. They aren't afraid to laugh at themselves. Psychonauts 2 felt afraid to laugh at anything. Even the levels felt creatively sterile compared to the original game. Psychonauts 2 had nothing like Waterloo World or The Milkman Conspiracy.
Yeah, the gay wedding was too much for me. Didn’t belong in this whimsical adventure.
