The Coffee Crisp is among my favorites.
There's some footage that never made a cut about Dermot and I arguing over the rating system. Me saying 'I'd eat it rather than die so it gets a one' is a taster of the conversation we had 😂

Crunchie bars and smarties are UK things that Canadians have access to and Americans generally don't, doesn't make them Canadian (please use wiki or google more often). Coffee Crisp is however Canadian but also shit, just a chocolate wafer thing with a slight coffee taste.

They had Coffee Crisp in a Facts video. It was well received, even by Ryan (!).

I’m Irish-Canadian, and I recently developed a taste for peanut butter. The brand I buy is pure peanut butter with no additives.
Also Canadian, and peanut butter is a staple good.

Dermot - During WW2 after peanuts became a cash crop it was peanuts and peanut butter that filled the void missing without butter and other staples needed during the war. I am sure there are things your family likes with roots in the war too. But that is why it is big over here in the colonies :)

So, peanuts are native to South America & southern North America. And when the Union army burned the south...one of the few surviving crops were peanuts (and sweet potatoes)...which made them a readily available food in the aftermath of famine and devastation. They were a good source of protein, the oil was a good substitute for whale oil...it basically saved peoples' lives. SORRY IF THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU, DERMOT. 😜

I don't understand it, either.
They didn't grow up eating it like Americans did. it's not a common snack anywhere else outside of northern America, so to many people overseas it just tastes weird/gross. Not all hate it though, John Sharpson for example loves peanut butter.
As I mentioned in another comment, Root Beer is also a taste exclusive to North America---Sditto for Birch Beer, etc. Similarly, I can't stand the black licorice called Drop, as it almost vomit from the smell of it.@@elementalchick407

I' agree that Root Beer needs to be served cold, but I remember a Dutch uncle trying A&W Root Beer from a chilled mug when he visited us. Suffice it to say, we were surprised and disappointed that he thought it tasted like cough syrup to him.
Regarding chocolate, I know many Europeans state that Hershey's tastes like vomit, but I think this is exaggerated. Hershey's, to my mind, has a slightly sour taste more suited to an adult palate. Same could be said for Hawkin's Cheezies. Frankly, I find Mars products too sweet for my taste now. @@sekazi

A friend of mine brought Caramel Irish Cadbury when she went home. It was better then any Chocolate we have hear. Another friend brought back Fortnum & Mason Marzipan back & I loved that. So appears, I tend to like European candy then American. I’ve had Swiss chocolate as a child but wasn’t crazy about it but I was around 10 at time. We have Cadbury here for Easter but have never tried it. Irish Cadbury spoiled me so will stick to that!
