    "The more you speak French, the more you're going to get mocked by the French." This is a universal truth.

    • @davidray6962
      @davidray6962 4 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      And I mean, really. I had three years of French in high school, another four in college, so I can get by. Also took a semester of Greek, a year of Persian, and accidentally sat in on a few classes for Italian. Greeks get all rapturous if you manage even one mispronounced word in their language. Italians patiently and encouragingly correct you. Iranians carry on in both languages like you understand everything, even when it is patently obvious you do not. But the French merely curl a lip and ask (in almost incomprehensibly bad English) why you don't stick to your own language.

    • @davidray6962
      @davidray6962 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@bobbyhood101 I was taught in high school by a francophone Swiss. My college professors were Quebecoise and French-Lebanese, and they both went absolutely ape whenever one of the Swiss colloquialisms I had learned slipped out.

      Right after I graduated high school in 1990 I went to Europe with a musical tour group that performed concerts across Western Europe. One of the friends I made on the tour spoke fluent French. Both of his parents were French teachers, they hosted French foreign exchange students every year, they spoke as much French in his house as English. But there was one little problem, he grew up in southern Virginia and had a thick southern accent, even when speaking French. People in France, especially in Paris, HATED him. The look on their faces of most people when he would start talking was like someone had just stuck a turd up their nose. I had been studying German for several years at that point and my experiences in German speaking countries was just the opposite. Germans, Austrians and Swiss were thrilled when I spoke German to them and were extremely helpful and encouraging.

      Yyyyeeeeeeeeeeesssss. And then they eat it on rye bread (buttered slightly).
      Mackerel in tomato sauce is also good. Kippers would be good. Both of those can get some mayo on them. Tuna is not great from a tin, it's just dry and boring. It can be so much better. And I wouldn't eat sardines directly, I would add it into my food to add salt and flavor.
      Also make them eat tinned mussels, cause that stuff looks gross. I'd like to see those reactions.

      I know why they aren't fond of 🐟 because in an earlier try video (or probably facts) they were told to try surströmming which as we all know has a very pungent stench to it similar to rotting corpse which has mortified most of the cast members and contributors to ever eat fish.
