In your wildest dreams maybe. 6 physical cores is superior to 4 cores + 4 threads in this case. The i5 8600k WILL beat an i7 7700k in BF1. Not by much, but still, for a much lower price... Now, a Coffee Lake i7 could be another story. Right now it would seem that the i5 8600k is probably among the best Intel chips to play BF1 with. And no, i don't have one so it's not me just trying to justify my purchase. *Edit* Small correction: It would seem that the i5 8600k is in fact quite a bit faster than an i7 7700k according to a few videos i saw...
raf888 this is literally one of the most demanding games going, on the most demanding map. It’s better to have your cpu maxing out and pushing high frame rates vs similarly priced amd chips that don’t max out in cpu usage but bottleneck the gpu.
I've got an 8400 and it's fast enough to last a long while. My 870 quad core ran BF1 great and that's a 10 years old CPU, so I dunno about the 8400 stuttering in the near future.
raf888 1.) 1 year old game 2.) vsync is off and his fps is ove 100, most people still using 60/75hz monitors and when you lock your fps to 60/75 the usage will be like 60-65% max
I have a video request. I have a 144hz monitor and would rather play at medium or high instead of ultra if it gives a decent boost in frames. Would you be able to do an 8400 + gtx 1070 battlefield 1 test at medium and high settings instead of ultra? I would really appreciate it... Even if you don't make a video and just reply with some comparisons between med-high-ultra I would be happy as well lol
speakerlover13 I'm a bit short on gpus at the mo sold my 1070. And my 1070 ti has been returned. so probably won't be able to make the video for a month. But yes I normally lower my setting when gaming to use that 144hz. And medium with the 1070 and 8400 for the most do the job. you get the odd crash bit of gameplay where might dip to 120s but that's expected for a processor at this price.
Prasad Gujar it's normally around the 20 degree mark in using a corsair h55 with a deepcool rf120 rgb fan on it. it's located in the rear 120 fan slot. full specs are in bottom of description tbh the case in using has terrible front air flow.
Dear uploader! I wanna ask something :D I am building my new PC with GTX 1060, but I'm wondering.. i5 8400 OR i5 8600k? is the 8600k worths more money, and better to buy?The FPS in every benchmark is nearly the same, just 1-5 fps difference..what do you think?!
I5 8500 , msi 1060 6gb gamingx oc , 2x8gb 3200 and i cant get abobe 100 fps in conquest ? :/ all cores maxed out at 100% , gpu around 70% , win10 with all the updates , drivers updated , high performance power option + all the useless shit disabled in bios
I'm sorry i'm new to the whole building a pc kinda thing and i'm just wondering how is the i5-8400 running at 3811mhz when on amazon it says that it's locked to 2800mhz?
creeperzzgaming :D we've all been there mate no reason to be sorry. 2.8ghz is its base clock, 3.8ghz is its all core turbo and 4ghz is for a single core. Normally you wouldn't see a 1ghz boost from base to allcore. But I think this was intel covering them selves for if OEMs eg dell hp put it in a super compact small build or aio. Another thing you may like to know if you put it in a z370 motherboard you can also ignore the rated 2666mhz ram speed as they allow much higher memory speeds. As for the rest of Intel's boards you will be limited to 2666mhz. Also as your new even though this is a 1151 socket CPU it will only work in 3xxx series 1151 motherboards.
can some one help me, i have gtx 1060 3gb and i5 8400 but my fps is only 50 to 60, my cpu usage is alway at 100% while my gtx 1060 usage is only around 40%
Alireza Asadi the 1600x is a great all rounder but the 8400 is just a better a gaming cpu. But you can get better performance on ryzen by using higher speed memory pref Samsung b-dies mad setting manual sub timings.
Perhaps you have RAM in single channel. I had 1 stick of 8gb and had dips to 40fps, now got another stick and fps doesnt drop below 60. Ryzen 1600 btw.
Bartlomiej Milewski nope it is 2×8gb stick with 3000mhz speed, the problem was the ram speed! It was on 2133 mhz i set the a-xmp profile to 2933mhz and i have no problem at all getting almost 100 fps without any drops now
I and the odd bottleneck with a 1070ti which is pretty close to your 1080 but that was only 5-15% and it mostly stayed at 99%. May I ask what's your ram config how many modules. Also what are your country clock speeds when gamign are they all turbo to 3.8ghz if there not change your power plan in Windows to high performance.
TheFullSetup Hey thanks for the response! For my ram, I have one 8GB stick of DDR4-2400 ram. My CPU does have the turbo on and runs at 3.8ghz. If it helps, i play on a 1080p/144hz monitor.
SPanunu yeah it's your ram mate battlefield doesn't play well with single channel memory configurations. You will find a lot of games running better with dual channel memory kits.
TheFullSetup oh damn I didn’t know that. Do you know if getting another stick of ram and running it in a dual channel would increase my gpu usage? That’s my main concern
SPanunu yes it should do I speak to a lot of people about bf1 about them getting big frame drops and 9 times out of 10 it's because they just have the one stick if ram. You will still get a bit of a bottleneck at 1080p on the demanding maps but you should see a nice improvement.
Chris can't see any reason why it won't it uses really low voltage to maintain it. And runni g with either mce on or of makes no difference to boost and very little to voltage/temps. if you haven't already seen my video on that check it out th-cam.com/video/qWj0ozJCZuo/w-d-xo.html
3200mhz ddr4 works with an 8400 if it's on a z series motherboard. And the 4500mhz is the gpu memory speed which you times by 2 as it's running at 9Gbps
Kon yes but the 1500x bottlenecks in may games with a 1070 where 8400 doesn't. I'd rather my CPU max out and actually fully use the GPU than not which is the case of the 1500x.
i dont know which games you are referring to ,but i have checked your video about ryzen 1500x gtx 1070 for bf1 and it looks kind of strange ,because , cpu workload is at 70% ,but gpu usage sometimes as low as 85 % . This is not the definition of bottleneck. If cpu usage was 99 or above and gpu usage was below 95 % ,then i would call it bottleneck. Am i mistaken ? th-cam.com/video/72rBuSrf2Rg/w-d-xo.html
Kon a CPU doesn't need to be at max usage to cause a bottleneck. If the game isn't fully optimized to use the CPU fully and the GPU isn't at 99% then the CPU is causing the bottleneck. A great example of this would be something like a 12 core Xeon running at say 2.5-3ghz because most game will only use half of its cores. and the frequency isn't that high even though the CPU is probably only using 20-50% it will still bottleneck the hell out of most modern GPUs. The 1500x is slightly different as it's a quad core at higher clocks but it certainly does bottleneck otherwise the GPU would be at a constant 99%. Also the video you linked is conquest which is less demanding than operations this is a 64player Amiens operations test which is going to hammer any CPU.
This is your video about i5 8400 + gtx 1070 and at 1:18 you can see that i5 8400 does the same thing as ryzen 1500x does , ( 79% gpu usage / 93% cpu workload ) which you call bottleneck . Same with 1:58 and many more moments in the video
Andrej Krav If the 8400 was at 100% then i'd be worried. It's normal for the GTX 1060 to be maxing out at 100%, especially since he has an uncapped framerate and is letting th system pump out as many frames as i wants.

Getting this build in a month when my pay check comes in. So excited
Cant believe this is so smooth. definetely buying this configuration.
damn, Amiens has no mercy lol
Great video, appreciate it
getting this in 2 months cant wait
same im getting exacttly this for christmas
we should play what is your name on steam
Wow, an actual good player! Respect
And know what footage and how to use it to not make it stupidly boring as well! Excellent
Awesone, great combination for gaming.
Amiens really kills CPUs
Florijan Šafar well I never really saw it bottleneck unlike the ryzen 1600 in amiens.
Yea Ryzen also seems like it has these weird stutters/freezes, I can see it on your videos
TheFullSetup Can we see one for the 1600.
Yep..
Nice fps and frametimes
Thanks for this :D
Also, Is there any chance you could test pubg?
I think that the I7 run better in this game because of the 8 threads.
In your wildest dreams maybe. 6 physical cores is superior to 4 cores + 4 threads in this case. The i5 8600k WILL beat an i7 7700k in BF1. Not by much, but still, for a much lower price... without freezes?
pls test i5 8400 and GTX 1060 6gb in witcher 3
This is the first game that i play that keeps my i5 8400 at 100% T_T
Better than a ryzen 1600 oc?
Jenk Meier no ryzen is still faster in bf1
Yes
Kevin, it's not faster than the 8400
static.techspot.com/articles-info/1502/bench/BF1_1080.png
Read benchmarks before you say something
Arckanum rolf
Yes, i5 8400 better than r5 1600 6c/12 but weaker than r7 1700 8/16.
Its hitting 90-100% CPU usage on a 2 year old game. Will it cause stutters in the near future just like the quad cores of today?
raf888 this is literally one of the most demanding games going, on the most demanding map. It’s better to have your cpu maxing out and pushing high frame rates vs similarly priced amd chips that don’t max out in cpu usage but bottleneck the gpu.

Can you make some CS:GO benchmarks with this setup?
Can you do more games with this setup... Plz.. :)
Animon#47 Dr yes plenty more this week.
wil i be able to get these results with a ryzen 5 2600
a few fps lower because game not optimized for ryzen cpu yet
You will get more with much less CPU usage
Ryzen 5 1600 or i5 8400 what should i buy? both have same price and same perfomance!
i5 8400
Md Aadil i5 8400
Md Aadil i went with the i5 8400.
You should get core i5 8400
is this for real THAT GOOD the cpu doesnt cost shit
I have a video request. I have a 144hz monitor and would rather play at medium or high instead of ultra if it gives a decent boost in frames. my ryzen 1600 AF@3.6GHz have same fps in BF1
Do you use the stock cooler?
Thank you for video, i too going do i5 8400 and 1060,bad what z370 very money.
can you test this proc. running with a gtx1060 vs a rx580 ???
Are the results similar with the 3gb version
What about temps with Intel stock cooler?
Max 70-71 °C
What was your room temperature? CPU seemed cool, even when pegged at 100% also what cooler are you using ?
Prasad Gujar it's normally around the 20 degree mark in using a corsair h55 with a deepcool rf120 rgb fan on it. it's located in the rear 120 fan slot. full specs are in bottom of description tbh the case in using has terrible front air flow.
If you had to choose between waiting for the i5 8400 to come back into stock, or getting the i3 8350k now, which one would you choose?
Mr_ Nice15 i5 8400
thanks
wait
TheFullSetup pls do i5 8400 and gtx 1060 6gb on gta 5 pls pls i already subscribed
Thrilling Hazardous don't worry it's on its way.
Mate could you do a gta v benchmark video with the same config ultra with msaax2
can u test in all games 1080p ultra?
What is your monitor?
Dear uploader!
I wanna ask something :D
I am building my new PC with GTX 1060, but I'm wondering.. i5 8400 OR i5 8600k? is the 8600k worths more money, and better to buy?The FPS in every benchmark is nearly the same, just 1-5 fps difference..what do you think?!
Tomi Tomi get the 8400 it's not worth the extra money especially if your pairing with a 1060.
If I'm overclocking then 8600k is better right?
Tomi Tomi yes because the 8400 can’t overclock. If you are good in overclocking and pare it with a 1070, then it will be worth.
Hello, constantly 60 fps on all maps 1080p on ultra ???
What PSU WATTS did you use?🤔
is this 8 generation intel procesor?
Yes, it is this
magična magička С of course
7:38 what gun it is?
It's the Hellriegel.
It can be unlocked after reaching assault class level 10
All ultra? SSAA 8x, HBAO+???
Silvio Andrian: i don’t think ice seen SSAA 8x in action before, what’s it like?
I'm sorry i'm new to the whole building a pc kinda thing and i'm just wondering how is the i5-8400 running at 3811mhz when on amazon it says that it's locked to 2800mhz?

On ultra bf1 uses over 3gb vram thats why
Did you overclock?
Neat Soccer read the description ;)
TheFullSetup do you have to overclock the graphics card to have it run at at least 60 fps
Neat Soccer overclocking GPU generally gains between 5 and 10 FPS depending on game so no you don't have to overclock.
Is game performance changed? I get 40 - 70 fps in ultra with a ryzen 1600x whats wrong?!
Alireza Asadi the 1600x is a great all rounder but the 8400 is just a better a gaming cpu. But you can get better performance on ryzen by using higher speed memory pref Samsung b-dies mad setting manual sub timings.

4k?
probably average 32 or less with max settings 1080p using 1060
You can get 60 fps with low settings 4K.
should I get a 1070 with this CPU or is a 1060 6 gb enough? I'm playing at 1080p 60hz
1060 is enough for 1080p and will be for another year or two
1060 is more than enough
How do you get your GPU usage to be so high? I have an i5 8400 and a gtx 1080 and my GPU usage is only between 50% to 70%

Hey will it run 144 FPS on low?
sure
If i have 2666mhz ram and not 3200mhz will it drasticly change fps?
You gain only 10 to 20 fps at best, and considering the Ram prices are going up, I would spend the money on a new gpu
overclocking the gpu to 2100mhz? is safe or not?
It is safe ,
SAME SPEC WITH YOU I ONLY GET 80FPS...
Change some settings man
And if you have a better monitor it takes more power
is this benchmark true OMG if yes then i gotta say that this 1060ti card is freaking awesome
I think it is fake cuz it is impossible for a 3200 MHz ram run with the memory clock speed around 4500mhz
3200mhz ddr4 works with an 8400 if it's on a z series motherboard.
And the 4500mhz is the gpu memory speed which you times by 2 as it's running at 9Gbps
I see the 100% CPU usage, but i do not see the stuttering...
Hello
Florijan Šafar SUP!
CPU all core running at 80-90% :(
And...? that is bad?
Ryzen 1500x workload is at max 80 % ,whereas intel i5 8400 is between 90-100 % .Not good, intel .On the other hand i5 8400 creates more fps to be fair
Kon yes but the 1500x bottlenecks in may games with a 1070 where 8400 doesn't. I'd rather my CPU max out and actually fully use the GPU than not which is the case of the 1500x.

I meant this ,sorry . th-cam.com/video/QEq6B3psSOY/w-d-xo.html 1:18 / 1:58
pls do this on GTA V pls
1:16 99% Bottleneck with 1060 lol.
Andrej Krav If the 8400 was at 100% then i'd be worried. It's normal for the GTX 1060 to be maxing out at 100%, especially since he has an uncapped framerate and is letting th system pump out as many frames as i wants.
That is not a bottleneck you noob.
You don't know what is a bottleneck lol.
now play pubg on low settings amd you will still only get 60 fps max lol
100% cpu load тебя не смущает? Там полюбому статтеры ещё какие. Выйдет ватч догс3 или длц для того же бф1 с обновлённой графикой, и всё, приехали.
Artemius Stragivari,
wtf 100% CPU in all cores
this is crap
its not 100% if it goes all 100% then ghz will rise to 4,0
@@hannes0000 what!!?
