Currently dad owns and no issues. It drives beautifully and he loves it. I love that this vehicle looks different than other vehicles on the road. Love all the features (endless) and durability history of Hyundai. As well as the 10year/100k warranty. The third row is super spacious. My 6’ brother fit perfectly. Family loves the futuristic look, feel and user friendly tech. Mom loves the UV disinfecting feature for the phones. Great on gas. I may be getting a matching vehicle soon. Take it for a test drive. Totally worth it.
Great call on the added window tint, such a small detail that makes a huge difference. And good catch on the Durham detail, I'm just outside of Brooklin!
Hey! I only had this one for a week but I ended up putting another 150km on it and was getting exactly what the sticker called for in overall fuel economy
@@CarsWithSteve I'm already ordered one on May, dealership guys said it should come soon in couple of weeks. I was looking for awd hybrid for trips (to sleep inside), saw dozed of reviews of non-hybrid version when started my research, and nobody has tell actual trunk size in inches) Thanks once again!
@@CarsWithSteve for first trip I'd go just with mattres/sleeping pad and then will see what I'll need to spend time more comfortably) I'm just beginning with road trips, which are pretty uncomfortable with my kia soul)
Very detailed video..!!! Great job…. 👍🏻 Do you know if this trim comes with cargo retractable cover…? Also is there puddle light in front door handles?? Thanks.
Thank you! They won't have the cover standard but you can get it from any Hyundai dealer! There are some lights on the handles, depending on the trim level that you're in
Hello, I have a question regarding the top down view camera when parking. I thought that feature was neat and I was wondering what Santa fe trims have that in Canada?
You'd be looking at ones with the 360 camera (Surround View Monitor) to get it... So in Canada you'd be looking at the Luxury or Ultimate Calligraphy trims which wouldn't come as a hybrid
No idea why Hyundai only offer base trim for the hybrids! They are loosing money ! I would had gotten top trim if it were available I had a Tucson hybrid luxury and loved it but I wanted more space and the hybrid has an amazing fuel economy
Canada does technically have the NHL edition which is the USA Calligraphy hybrid equivalent but a more feature packed hybrid would be really nice for us on the north side of the border
I show off using USB audio in this video.. you need to plug in via USB and make sure that you have the data transfer selected. Using the left USB-C port and then make sure the bottom led should be on, if not, press that section to change it from charge only. As for the car color.. no way to change it from what I've seen...
The USB stick I use in my videos is NTFS as well, audio formats are a mix of MP3 and WAV and all seem to play fine. Just to confirm.. there are 2 USB ports, you need to use the one on the left side AND make sure that the light in the square just next to it has the data+charge icon highlighted. If the top charge icon is highlighted, just press that square to change to data transfer mode
It'll be a single electric motor with a 1.49 kWh battery regardless of whether you're front wheel or all wheel drive. Charging comes from the gas engine as you drive and through regen braking!
@@CarsWithSteve I have a 24 Santa Fe AWD Hybrid and I'm confused how when the car is in motion using only battery power all 4 wheels are getting power. How does the single electric motor dish power to all 4 wheels? Thank you for your help! I'm mainly just curious its my first AWD & Hybrid vehicle.
Good question! The battery isn't driving all 4 wheels, just the front 2. At low speed driving or highway coasting the battery will be pushing the vehicle forward but under certain driving conditions like when you start accelerating harder, going uphill, if the battery level is too low or the vehicle recognizes all wheels are necessary then the gas engine will turn on so they can work in tandem This would actually be a pretty neat video.. I haven't done one explaining the difference between ICE, HEV, PHEV and BEV yet
@@CarsWithSteve I definitely agree you should make a video on it! I've searched around YT and Reddit for answers... and didn't find anything. When I drive my Santa Fe I like to have the Driving force distribution 'You can see it on page 4 - 33 of the 24 hybrid manual' graphic up and my curiosity was spinning out of control trying to understand how this was working. 90% of the time power is going to all 4 wheels according to this display. With it being a hybrid and having AWD I can see how the gas motor and electric motor work in tandem. I believed the engine was in an off state and I think that's what was confusing me.
I'm really surprised there isn't more info on how the system works, especially from Hyundai directly. I just found this article from Hyundai EU that summarizes it nicely though - www.hyundai.news/eu/articles/press-releases/hybrid-technology-enhanced-driving-experience-for-tucson-and-santa-fecustomers.html
Id like to know where these fuel figures come from. Same trip following each other with a 2011 6ltr commodore and a 2024 Santa Fe. 500kms round trip. Commodore 6ltr standard 9ltr per 100kms and the looser thirstier Santa fe @10ltr per 100kms??
Canadian numbers are from Natural Resources Canada government site (fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en) and USA numbers are from fueleconomy.gov which is the office of Transport and Air Quality
As always, Steve, your video reviews are both entertaining and informative. (infotaining?) You do great work. So who would you suggest is the target market for the Santa Fe? Hyundai's have always struck me as a sort of occupying an entry-level niche on the market. These days, $40,000 (US) seems to me as slightly above entry level, but not by much.
Thanks Patrick! Infotaining is exactly what I'm shooting for on these ones ;) Just have get more of the entertaining aspect down 😂 That's a good question about the market.. I've personally seen 4 in my local area driven by soccer moms.. which would make sense for the ridiculous cargo space you get in this one. But for overall target market, like with most Hyundai vehicles, it's loaded with tech and has a Land Rover feel so I'd say a budget luxury buyer
My Santa Fe hybrid with the trend pack is $53000 plus tax so I paid $67000 😵💫 No 360 camera No memory seats No Navigation And much more missing features for a $67000 car Oh the gas version has been recall for a defective engine 😵💫
A 25%+ tax is wild! Or did you add in some extras, extended warranty etc? There were 12k units in USA and 800 in Canada that are recalled for a software glitch that might lead to transmission issues, but the recall is not for a defective engine, just a software update. Surprising that the sales rep didn't point out the feature set of the one you bought
Keep doing what you are doing, need to support more Canadian car reviewers
Thanks Jerry!

Always good to hear when people are loving their rides! Is it the first time that the family has owned a Hyundai?
I bought the same color and trim last week. This car is the best choice for a smart and practical person.... like me. haha
Nice! How are you liking it so far? Curious.. what did you upgrade from?
Pick mine up tomorrow!
Nice! What options did you end up going for with yours?
We got the trend pkg and i had them tint the driver and passenger front windows to match the rest.
Your video was shot where I live so you must be a Durham Region guy?
Great call on the added window tint, such a small detail that makes a huge difference. And good catch on the Durham detail, I'm just outside of Brooklin!
Great work Steve, keep it up! Wonder which colour would you go for since you’ve said this magnetic grey isn’t your personal choice😉
Thank you! It would be a toss up between the Terracotta Orange (I love bright colors) or Atlantis Blue with the windows tinted
I bought a calligraphy hybrid awd 2 months ago I love driving again!
I'm in a regular Calligraphy next week so I'm hoping it lives up to the hype! How has the fuel economy been so far?
Hi, Since you have been driving this Hybrid for a while now, how will you rate the gas economy within city and on highway?
Hey! I only had this one for a week but I ended up putting another 150km on it and was getting exactly what the sticker called for in overall fuel economy
Thanks for the video. You reference more indepth videos are in the description, but they are for the Palisade, which is different.
You're welcome! I haven't released the Sante Fe tech videos yet which is why those other videos are listed.. very similar tech between them
Gosh, thank you for the trunk dimensions with all rows folded! None of other reviewers mentioned that...
You're welcome! Have you picked up a Sante Fe or thinking of it for your next ride?

Ah that makes sense. The larger Santa Fe should be way more comfortable than the Soul. Hopefully the new ride treats you well!
Great video, what is the fuel average looking like
Thank you! I found that the fuel economy is bang on what Hyundai was claiming for the hybrid.. 6.9L/100 km or 34 mpg with regular driving habits

That's odd.. what audio formats are you using?

That upper glovebox is NOT a glovebox. It's a UV sanitizing compartment. The real glovebox is below.
The upper box is UV in the higher trims. It's decorative otherwise...
