Thank you so much Mark for all the useful videos! Just confused with the salary packing, say one employee is having $70000 incl SUPER. Should I put $70000 in the annual salary under pay template tab or should I put $70000/1.105 which is the base $63348.42?
Thanks for this video it was really helpful! Question-I've just started out, if I wanted to pay an employee a sum before the end of the tax year, because they worked those hours, but can't actually pay them until next year, how do I record that on Xero? THANKS!!
Hey Mark, how do we solve Xero monthly payroll issue where monthly rate stays the same, and hourly rate changes depends on working days of that particular month, when a full time employee gets terminated, the annual leave payout varies as payout = annual leave accrued * hourly rate, if hourly rate varies, termination payment changes?
Hi Mark, is it possible if we can manually lodge the new employee to ATO? Our Xero already maxed out to 2 employees and the clients does not have want to upgrade his plan. If yes, I am also concern on how to work on their super besides their tax?
@@mark-and-trina Hi Mark, we will be only using payrun - the new employee be in the draft and when we are going to post it, he will be not included. The super be paid manually to the clearing house. Is that possible?
@@Strawberry-tl2tq For the amount of extra time and effort you put into the workaround solution it might be more cost effective to just upgrade Xero to the next plan.
Thank you for the demonstration. How do I set up an employee on a salary package? Let's say on 60k plus super. Do I add a Earnings line (annual salary ) of 60k or 66k?
Thanks for this excellent demonstration. If I set up a superannuation account option after setting up the employee, can I choose it in the same way as if I had set it up before?
So there is No quick and easy way? Must be okay for office staff that have two large screens and nothing but office work I've managed to add an employee but when it comes to adding a pay run the employee is not listed or available Would of expected it to be like follow the prompts and fill in but it's a maze without instructions Very hard for an owner operator with a laptop and a smartphone Guess I'll be ringing my accountant for a visit again.
Hi there. Sadly there is no quick and easy way to add an employee to payroll because there are so many variables to set up. If you assing your employee to a particular pay calendar (weekly, fortnightly etc) they should show up in a pay run for that calendar when you add the pay run.
Thanks, Mark. One thing I haven't been able to figure out is whether the Ordinary Time includes or excludes SGC. For example, a casual employee's agreement states that their hourly rate is $130 inc. super. Do I enter 117.647058 as their Rate for Ordinary Hours so that they total pay is $130 (SGC is 10.5%)?

The second one.
It appears that Xero has updated some of these screens e.g. the Employment tab looks different but the info looks more or less the same.
Is there an option to get a form that has this information on the we can give to employee so that we have all their details?
I have found if you send them the TFN declaration and super choice form that has all the info you need except their mobile number

How will you pay your employees if you don't use Xero for their payroll?

How do I set up an employee on a salary package?
Let's say on 60k plus super.
Do I add a Earnings line (annual salary ) of 60k or 66k?
You put in the 60k as a salary and super as separate item when you're setting up the employee's pay template.
Hi, how to set up an employee that doesn't require a timesheet when processing the payroll run?
You can just set up a pay template for that employee and not process a timesheet for them when doing your pay runs.
Can the Earnings rate be defaulted for the employee? Getting employee to choose may have a bit of risk.
Which earning rate are you saying the employee chooses?
when i press the arrows , no options showed up , like the payroll calendar , press it and show no options
Which arrows?
?What about subcontractos? how do you add them
Subcontractors should give you an invoice that you pay outside of the payroll system. They should have an ABN too.
Thanks for this excellent demonstration. If I set up a superannuation account option after setting up the employee, can I choose it in the same way as if I had set it up before?
Yes, absolutely

SGC will be added on to ordinary time pay so you are correct.
In hours per week we always need to add 38 hours or we can varry it according to the employee actual working hour.
You can put in whatever number you like.
Xero has changed their payroll set up so much which is such a shame. This video is great but now out dated
