    Still have never been to Sitka. Definitely on my list especially after seeing your video. Great capture of the day man and good editing!

    Spent the summers of 76, 77 and 78 in Sitka. Working during high school summer vacation. What an experience that was. The wild stories i could tell about partying with the local high school kids. Oh my lord...hanging out at The Rock, playing foosball. One of those summers was the summer of the Eagles New Kid in Town...boy was that song true...for me. THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!

      Jim Chaypull those were awesome days partying. I graduated in 78 so we probably shotgunned beers from the shared halfrack...

      Sup bro, plan on moving to Sitka... I heard you rarely see the sun... you think I could still pull a decent amount of energy from solar panels from the sunlight given off?

    • @danield679
      @danield679 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FOLLOWER OF GMS I’m afraid I’m probably not the best person to ask, but since you did ask, my impression is that one would have to plan on many overcast, rainy days than most of the rest of AK. Sitka is considered to be a rainforest and it isn’t very sunny there all that often so one would need to plan accordingly. I wish you the very best of success though. I loved it there and am hoping/planning to go back as soon as I can. Look into Prince of Wales Island too, it’s much cheaper and very frontiersman friendly. Sitka land costs a fortune and has been called the “hippie retirement village”. They apparently came up from San Fran in the 80’s and didn’t leave, which is okay by me lol 😆! But they drove up the cost of living apparently quite a lot.

    It is impossible that these images are from 1867. The technology to capture moving images did not develop until the late 1880s

    The oldest video ever recorded was a silent film called "Roundhay Garden Scene" shot in 1888. This is definitely not the real authentic footage. ( 0:30 ) Great vlog tho, keep it up!

      Hi. Thanks for your response. Please don’t be offended but I was watching your video on TH-cam and trying to learn more about Sitka and I suddenly felt my head spinning with all the quick edits and jumping camera angles. I felt I was missing out on seeing the Alaska Day parade properly. I realise we all have our own video styles and you’re quite at liberty to make the video in any way you wish.
