Before the city tour, I heard a returning passenger make a derogatory comment about her experience. I totally disagree and wish I could have lived there myself. The extreme cost of living would have made that impossible but the charm and sense of community spirit was inspiring. What a treasure! Thoroughly enjoyed the historical dances and raptor sanctuary. A highlight of my cruise experience there May 2023.
I haven’t been to Alaska yet but, from what I gather, Sitka is heavy on education and museums while Skagway may be more shopper-friendly. Perhaps that person was disappointed in that. Hoping for this year.
I first learned of this place during Covid when I was looking at random radio stations. Since then I’ve made it a bucket list place to at least visit. Would love to live there

I was there 43 years ago when my brother was in the coast guard n my nephew was born there too. It was so beautiful
